Chapter 223: 222 You are so domineering

Chapter 223: 222 You are so domineering

She noticed his eyelashes fluttering and his hand moving under the covers.

She hadn’t been outside chatting with Gu Kai for too long, but when she returned to the ward, he was leaning against the head of the bed reading a newspaper, looking perfectly alert, not like someone who just woke up.

From all the time they had spent together, she was familiar with his habits, so she could basically guess that he was already awake then.

Could it be possible that he created opportunities for Gu Kai to chat with her and knew about Gu Kai and Shen Yuting appearing at her home that day, accompanying her while shopping?

MO Xiuchen calmly raises his eyebrow and says, “Of course, it’s like that,

Ranran. Don’t overthink it and don’t let a single mistake of mine weigh on vour

mind.”

“Did you ask your brother what the exact cause of Zhou Mingfu’s death was?”

The sudden change of topic caught Wen Ran off guard and after a moment, she shook her head, “I didn’t ask. I haven’t called in these past two days. I’ll ask when I go to the office tomorrow.”

“Hmm, that’s a good idea. When you go to the office tomorrow, why not let your brother listen to the recording by Little Liu?”

Right after the TV show he was watching ended, MO Xiuchen picked up the remote and casually changed the channel.

His gentle gaze, however, did not fix on the LCD screen, but fell softly on the woman beside him.

Wen Ran shook her head and said lightly, “No need, I can just tell him. Zhou

Mingfu is already dead, what Cheng Jia said is of no significance to us.”

MO Xiuchen agreed with her but still raised his own points, “I know Zhou

Mingfu is dead, and the despicable things he did won’t matter to your brother. But if those things were not just done by Zhou Mingfu alone, then it would still be useful.”

Wen Ran pursed her lips, her mind quickly turning gears before she said softly,

“Unless you go yourself, Cheng Jia won’t tell the truth.”

“Ranran, I’ll make Cheng Jia tell the truth, don’t worry, I won’t be gentle or compassionate towards her.”

MO Xiuchen said with certainty. This matter not only relates to her and Wen Jin’s enemy, it also involves him. Zhou Mingfu and Xiao Wenqing’s underhanded dealings were clear as day.

And Xiao Wenqing is the murderer who killed his mother.

He might also be the murderer of Wen Ran’s parents, but now he is not in a hurry. The truth will eventually come to light. He wants to thoroughly enjoy the process of unravelling the truth.

“Alright, then this great and arduous task is up to you. You not only have to get Cheng Jia to spill what she knows but also make her fall for Little Liu quickly and bear him children.”

As she finished speaking, a glimpse of a smile flashed in Wen Ran’s eyes. Under the brilliant crystal light, she looked charming and lovely. The thought of Cheng Jia bearing children for Little Liu, and raising them filled her with amusement.

She didn’t notice when a quick flash of emotion swept over MO Xiuchen’s deep gaze. He smiled and said, “Surely, you just wait for the day to toast at their wedding. Unless Cheng Jia remains single for her entire life, she can only marry Little Liu!”

Wen Ran laughed and said, “How domineering, Cheng Jia may not listen to you.”

“Of course she won’t listen to me. Just like when she was cornered by the reporters that morning, she had no choice but to make a decision.”

MO Xiuchen spoke casually but his tone was filled with confidence and certainty. If Cheng Jia heard this, she would certainly feel desperate.

Wen Ran laughed and ended that topic, returning to the previous one, “Enough about Cheng Jia, tell me about Older Brother Gu and the Gu Family.”

MO Xiuchen’s eyes flickered and he readily agreed, “Alright, what do you want to know about? The Gu family is a century-old medical family, his father, grandfather…”

His words were interrupted by the sudden vibration of the mobile phone on the adjacent sofa.

MO Xiuchen turned around, picked up the phone he had thrown on the side, turned off the ringtone, but the buzzing vibration seemed even more attention-grabbing.

“It’s a call from Shen Yuting. Should I answer it?”

MO Xiuchen turned the phone screen towards Wen Ran, the flashing name caught her eyes. She furrowed her brows slightly and said indifferently, “If you want to answer, then answer it, it’s not like she is looking for me.”

“Shen Yuting doesn’t usually call me. maybe it’s something important.”

After MO Xiuchen finished speaking, he pressed the answer button with a long finger and lazily said ‘Hello’. Whether intentional or not, he didn’t put the call on speaker, so Wen Ran couldn’t hear what Shen Yuting said. She didn’t want to listen to his phone conversation with others, so she stood up and left for the restroom.

When she came out of the restroom, MO Xiuchen had just finished his phone conversation. The faint furrow in his handsome brows suggested something was going on, “Ranran, I have something to attend to, so I may not come back for a while. You should rest early by yourself.”

Wen Ran blinked lightly, looking at MO Xiuchen a few steps away and said calmly, “Go ahead!”

MO Xiuchen walked up to her, gave her a kiss on the forehead, and affectionately tousled her silky hair. Then he turned around, headed to the cloakroom to change his clothes and left.

“Xiuchen, what’s the matter? Why did you ask me here?”

In the bar, by the time Gu Kai arrived, MO Xiuchen had already finished one drink and was playing with the glass in his hand.

He sat down in front of him, picked up the other glass of wine, emptied it in one gulp, and stared at him intently, “Did you not manage to settle the matter in City C? Is the worker’s family unwilling?”

He knew a little bit about the matter in City C and assumed MO Xiuchen was bothered about it.

“It seems I said something wrong.”

MO Xiuchen looked up at Gu Kai, then lowered his gaze to the empty glass in his hand, and replied irrelevantly.

Gu Kai frowned, “What do you mean, what did you say wrong?”

“Are you having more? If not, we can go to the car to talk.”

MO Xiuchen really did jump topics. If it wasn’t for Gu Kai knowing him well, he certainly wouldn’t be able to keep up with his pace. As soon as he finished speaking, Gu Kai laughed and reached for his wallet to pay the bill voluntarily.

After paying the bill, the two left the bar together. Gu Kai followed MO Xiuchen into his Aston, passed him a cigarette, and lit it for him.

MO Xiuchen took a heavy drag from the cigarette, blew out a string of smoke through the half-lowered window, and held the cigarette between his fingers.

He looked out at the night scene outside the window, took a slow breath, and said, “That night, seeing Wen Ran and Wen Jin being too intimate, I impulsively said some things that I shouldn’t have.”

A flicker of surprise passed through Gu Kai’s eyes. He was not sure what inappropriate things MO Xiuchen had said, but it surely wasn’t anything pleasant or else he wouldn’t be so remorseful.

“You’re jealous of Wen Jin? Xiuchen, although Wen Jin isn’t Ranran’s real brother, they’ve lived together for over ten years. The bond between them as siblings can’t be replaced..”
