Chapter 68 - 92, All Gone
But they seemed to have completely disappeared. Were it not for the existence of this mansion, she would have thought she was in a dream, and he was a figment of that dream! So clearly there, yet so unreal.
The wind was strong, and at dusk, snow suddenly began to fall!
She sat on the grass, growing more and more lonely. Atop the entire mountain, she was the only person!
“Xiao Mohan, have you run into trouble?” Gu Chuyan muttered, her heart raw with grief, as if pierced by something. She was so sad, so very sad.
She had thought that she and him would be together for a lifetime!
But why had he suddenly left? He left her, even abandoning his mansion.
Gu Chuyan turned around and ran towards S City. She searched many places, trying to find some trace of Xiao Mohan online but the man seemed to have vanished into thin air. Not a trace of him could be found…
“Wen’ange? Yes, I should go to Wen’ange.” She remembered Xiao Mohan had mentioned it once. She could look for Wen Shui there. But, after several hours, she only found an empty courtyard resembling a palace. There was no one!
Exhausted, Gu Chuyan leaned against a wall and slowly slid down to sit on the ground. Watching as the snow fell heavier, she felt hopeless, as if she’d been abandoned.
“Mrs. Gu, I heard that recently, you’re planning to sponsor a fundraising campaign for a poverty-stricken area, is that true?”
“Mrs. Gu, I heard that Miss Gu is planning to enter the entertainment industry, is that true?”
At that moment, Lian Zhenzhen’s face appeared on the large building’s silver screen across the street. She was followed by bodyguards and looked radiant, the perfect picture of a ‘Madame’.
Gu Chuyan stood up, watching this scene amidst the freezing wind.
“Mrs. Gu? Miss Gu?” Gu Chuyan muttered, finding the situation incredibly ironic! What on earth was going on in the world?
She stood there, clutching her phone for a while,
“Hello, Yao Rong.” She took the initiative to call Yao Rong. Upon hearing her voice, Yao Rong was startled, “Chuyan, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to ask you if I could borrow someone.”
“who?”
Gu Chuyan took a deep breath. Snowflakes fell on her, but she didn’t seem to feel the cold. She took a few steps forward, kicking at the snow beneath her feet.
“You mentioned before that your uncle is a private detective, right?”
The video she just watched had been very upsetting. She had been pretending not to care about everything that had been happening, but the more she pretended, the more others tried to corner her, to break her. She couldn’t continue like this.
“Yes, that’s correct!” Yao Rong listened, puzzled, and wondering why she was asking this.
“Please have him look into both Gu Miaoting and Lian Zhenzhen. I want to know everything about them. The past, the present, everything! As for his fees, I’ll pay him once I’ve earned the money.” Gu Chuyan said.
By how these women were now openly displaying their ambitions, one could guess they might have had a plot in mind when they first moved into the Gu family home.
“Also, if possible, could he help me find out where my brother is?” Her voice was bitter, as if something was stuck in her throat, keeping her from speaking.
“Don’t cry! Where are you? I’ll come to you.” Yao Rong sounded panicked upon hearing her distress.
She tilted her head back, blinking rapidly, forcing herself to smile. “I’m okay! It’s snowing now, don’t come out! I’m going home.”
“Alright then, just be careful.” Yao Rong thought she was going to find Xiao Mohan, so she didn’t insist any further.
After hanging up the phone, Gu Chuyan put away her cell phone and moved forward, staggering a bit before realizing how extremely cold it was..
