Chapter 67 - 91: Could it be male?
Yao Rong suddenly jumped up and darted forward, but unfortunately, the little fox was extremely quick and burrowed into Gu Chuyan’s arms right away.
“Could it be male?” Yao Rong let her imagination run wild.
The more she thought about it, the more possible it seemed. She leaned in close to examine Gu Chuyan’s fair face, and asked in a low voice: “It’s not attracted to you, is it?”
Gu Chuyan was taken aback. She reached out and poked Yao Rong’s forehead:
“Yao Rong! You fujoshi, you’ve been reading too many of those novels, your imagination is wild.”
Upon hearing this, Yao Rong pouted: “Alright, alright! Take good care of your darling! It’s too cold, you should hurry back, or your rich guy will be worried.”
What exactly was her relationship with Xiao Mohan? She wasn’t really clear on it herself! He had saved her a few times, treated her really well! Ensured her living expenses, and she…they even seemingly had a marriage certificate.
“What does blushing signify?” Noticing this, Yao Rong was all over it, not wanting to pass up this opportunity.
“Yao Rong,” Gu Chuyan pretended to be upset.
Yao Rong backed away a few steps, called a cab, and after getting in, stuck her head out of the window to blow her a kiss: “Hurry back!”
Gu Chuyan was standing there as she flagged down a taxi: “Could you please take me to the mid-hillside, thank you.”
“Mid-hillside? Miss! Are you sure? Cars can’t go up the mountain.” The driver frowned upon hearing this, clearly reluctant, but seeing that she was a young lady alone, he relented: “Alright, I’ll take you to the foot, and you walk from there?”
“That works,” Gu Chuyan responded.
The taxi dropped her off at the foot of the hill, and she walked towards the Xiao Family Pavilion in little steps.
Behind her trailed a fluffy little thing, bouncing along, now and then darting into the bushes to catch bugs and occasionally rolling out, keeping a distance from her.
“I must be crazy, actually bringing it back,” Gu Chuyan laughed at her silliness.
She was jogged before she realised how far it was to the mid-hillside. After walking for a full hour, she finally arrived!
With her breath coming in gasps, Gu Chuyan leaned against the wall to catch her breath before entering.
The doors automatically opened and the lights in the hall came on, revealing an empty house.
“Xiao Mohan, I’m home!” Excited, she ran upstairs hoping to see that familiar figure. Unfortunately, no matter where she looked in the entire mansion, she couldn’t find him.
She took off her coat, sat on the sofa, and picked up her cell phone to call him:
“I’m sorry, the number you have dialled is switched off.”
After some thought, she tried calling Han Changqing. Also switched off!
“When are you coming back?” She sent him a message then rummaged in her handbag. She pulled out 900 yuan (spent 100 on the taxi), held it high up.
The light shone on the red notes, she kissed the money, jumped up to take a bath, came down to get some food!
She waited till late in the night, sleeping alone on the couch!
The next day, he still wasn’t back! His phone still off, the next two days, no sign of his presence, the fourth day, fifth day, the sixth day!
An entire week passed, it was as if Xiao Mohan just evaporated from the face of the Mortal World!
Gu Chuyan stood on the slope, overlooking the whole of S City. Yet for some reason, she felt an emptiness in her heart. No matter what she did, that emptiness just wouldn’t fill up.
“Xiao Mohan, where on earth have you gone? Don’t tell me you don’t want me anymore?” She fell on her knees on the ground, looking ahead in confusion. He had said that no matter what, he wouldn’t leave her!
Was he lying to her too? Gu Chuyan kept shaking her head, believing that Xiao Mohan wasn’t that kind of person! Definitely not!
