Chapter 81 - Investigation (ii)

\'Where was he all this time?\'

\'Did he know Layla and I were alive? Or did he think we were dead?\'

\'Did he know we were sent to that shit hole which was worse than our old home?\'

\'He was nearly seven years old at that time, so it\'s not like he was stupid to understand. He has always been the smarter one. Mother always favored him over me.\'

\'Maybe he purposely left me and Layla behind so that shit (Ryan) would kill us?\'

\'What if he was into the deal with the mafias and the president? Otherwise, how is he alive?\'

Leon\'s thoughts were going off the roof. He was trying his best to imagine against Liam to find an excuse to hate Liam, and it was understandable. He never trusted anyone, so he would obviously think of bad things about others.

\'But… if Liam knew everything, then he should also know that we escaped that shit hole. He should know our house address. Even if he didn\'t remember it, he could easily get them from the government database.\'

\'And if he truly knew everything about us, then he should have already made his next move to kill us, right?\'

Leon Banged his head on the table and thought, \'There is no way he is innocent!\'

"Excuse me!" an officer approached Leon and said, "Would you mind not making noise?"

Leon stopped and let out a deep sigh, but he didn\'t say or even look at the officer.

The officer left and went to the chief\'s U.B\'s office to show his reports on Eren\'s case.

Leon sharpened his hearing senses and listened to all the conversations going on near him in the 5-meter radius.

"Sir, here are the reports on Eren\'s case," the officer said to the chief.

"Did we find the Eren\'s gun— the murder weapon?" the chief asked.

"Yes. We found it dumped near the city hospital."

"Did we get the footage of that area?" the chief asked.

"No. Just before the gun was dumped, the culprit broke the camera," the officer answered.

"This is getting ridiculous," the chief sighed and asked, "What about the witness or the suspects? Anyone saw the killer getting in or out of the apartment?"

"No, sir. We still can\'t figure out how the killer managed to enter and leave Eren\'s apartment. But we are interrogating his neighbor— Ida Iki, who lives in the right apartment next to him."

"How is the interrogation going?" the chief asked.

"Well… she has been yelling ever since she got here," the officer replied.

"What about the other neighbor of the left apartment? Are they not available?" the chief asked with a confused look on his face.

"We knocked on the door, but they didn\'t answer," the officer replied. "We are waiting for the warrant to be issued so we can break into their house."

After a brief pause, the chief asked, "What about Eren\'s family? Are they doing okay?"

"Well…"

"Hmm?"

"His mother filed a case against the department to sue us. His father is trying to get his second son— Eren\'s brother, to drop out of the police training. And his girlfriend, who was in a long-distance relationship, turned out to be cheating on him with his best friend."

"..wow. People show their true colors as soon as they have nothing to hide…" the chief sighed and said, "How is L handling? Eren was his best friend."

"He is trying to look okay, but I don\'t think he is okay. Especially when Eren\'s body was found in such a bizarre condition."

"Yeah. How could someone be that heartless?"

\'You tell me,\' Leon uttered inwardly.

After a while, Ida walked out of the room and walked past Leon. She made her way to a certain room and came out with her son in her hands after a few seconds.

Mr.L was interrogating the next person, so he hadn\'t come out yet.

An officer approached Ida and said, "Miss, you have to sign this paper before you leave."

"What\'s it about?" Ida asked with an annoyed look on her face.

"It\'s the proof that you were interviewed."

"Alright," Ida sighed and uttered, "Can you hold my son while I sign?"

The officer backed off and raised his hands before saying, "I am not good with kids."

Ida frowned her face and glanced around to look for someone or something. Her gaze fell on Leon, but she ignored him because Leon was staring at Ida.

However, everyone else in the department was busy with their work, so Ida had no option but to ask Leon for help.

She walked to Leon and said, "Can you hold my son for a minute."

"Sure."

Leon took Ida\'s son in his arms, and as soon as he did, her son started giggling for some reason.

Ida shot a glance at Leon while signing the paper, as though she was surprised to see her son giggling in the arms of a stranger. She had no idea that Leon was no other than the killer who railed her senseless for hours.

After signing the papers, the officer left.

Ida walked to Leon and smiled after seeing her kid enjoying Leon\'s company.

"It seems he likes you," Ida commented.

Leon got up and stood in front of Ida. He stared at her for a while and then moved his gaze to her milky breasts.

"I think so too," Leon replied without taking his eyes off Ida\'s chest.

Ida noticed Leon staring at her breasts, so she covered them with her purse and said, "Can I have my son back?"

"Yes, of course." Leon handed Ida\'s son back to her. But in that process, Leon groped and squeezed Ida\'s breasts with his other hand.

Ida slapped Leon\'s hand and glared at Leon with a frowned face.

"Did you just—"

Ida stopped when she noticed Leon was squeezing her other breasts with another hand.

She wanted to stop Leon, but something inside her didn\'t let her.

Ida squinted her eyes at Leon and uttered, "Are you… are you the— the…"

Ida wanted to ask, \'Are you the one who fucked me?\'

Of course, she couldn\'t ask that because she was afraid. If her guess was false, she would be embarrassed, and if her guess was accurate, she would be scared because Leon had warned her not to speak of the incident.

However, Ida truly wanted to confirm her suspicion. So she went with the cliche pick-up line.

"Have we met before?" she asked.

"I wonder," Leon replied with a grin on his face.
