Chapter 50 - Change In Plans
"But I have never even heard of him before this. All I have heard of was the red wolf, who had killed hundreds of thousands, and of the sweet and beautiful vampire who became a celebrity in the mortal world. The rest of them are just side characters.", Azar said with disbelief.
"Angela? She is just famous. Nothing more. Well, Praneeth is different. He never stood out because no one who stood against him ever opened their mouth. Praneeth is probably the definition of a good boy. He is quite irritating, and he only goes against people who he thinks are against the right.", she said.
"You are saying that he will be facing us on every step of the way.", Azar said.
"Yes. He will. Now, regarding Lucas. How is he behaving. Are his eyes red still?", she asked.
"Like a tomato.", Azar grinned.
"Good. That is good.", she said.
"But that is beside the point. If we cannot kill this Praneeth guy, what is your plan with him? I know you enough to know that you will never leave an enemy of yours comfortably above ground.", Azar said.
"Then you know me very well.", the marquess said. "Killing him will be the next step after taking care of releasing all of Loki\'s children, as well as killing all of Ra\'s apostles.", she said with a cold voice.
"What are you talking about? What is this new part about killing Ra\'s apostles? That was not a part of our agreement before.", Azar looked surprised.
"Don\'t worry. I am not going to make you idiots do it. I will do it myself. So far, all you have done is almost give away our plans to the gods by almost getting caught when tampering with Ouroborous\' chains.", she said.
"What do you expect? They constantly have that place monitored. What did you even expect us to do? We are so much weaker than those that you wish for us to stop.", Azar said.
"Just leave me. I will do what I need to do, and you will have to do what you people do. That is all. Why are you people even afraid of death? You can\'t even be serious right?", she scoffed.
"Because Yama hasn\'t and never will agree to Apophis. He is on the righteousness side and more such bullshit. If Yama is the one that has jurisdiction over me, then I am completely screwed.", Azar said.
"And you are not in India. You are in New York. Use your brain.", she said.
"All of that does not matter. Who knows what could happen? Not everyone dies and goes to hell every other day."
"Are you criticizing me?", she said.
"No. I am not.", Azar hastily said.
"Now tell me. What the hell is taking Dr.Marianno so much time? I thought that he would be done by yesterday.", she asked.
"That? It is taking more time because the simulations went a little wrong. It will be another two hours before that, whatever will come out. Well, the werewolf experiment did not work out well though. That vampire with a flaming sword could easily kill it.", Azar said.
"Why would you even want to compare a failed product with the real thing? Just make sure that he is done before Lucas gets to the seventh floor.", she said.
"Fine. I\'ll tell him.", Azar grumbled.
"Now get out, I have more stuff to do.", she barked.
"Stop treating us like we are your slaves.", he muttered.
"Oh and wait. One more thing. Where the hell is Peter? Why is he still alive?", she said.
"We used him as bait to bring Lucas here. He is currently on the fifth floor. He is, well, almost dead. Nothing in the world will be able to save him.", Azar smiled.
"The fifth floor? Okay.", she nodded.
Azar left the room and closed the door behind him. The room was enclosed in complete darkness and silence. What the marquess was doing was only barely visible because of the light from outside.
"So many problems. Who would have thought that Praneeth would have thought about everything and tried to keep them all together? When I saw them separate Raphael, I thought that all would fall under the plan. I should have just killed him when I had the chance.", a sharp glint appeared in her eyes.
"Where are the council members now?", she asked to seemingly nothing.
"They are on the third floor.", a voice came from a corner of the room.
"Who is guarding the floor?", she asked.
"The minotaur."
"The minotaur? I thought that you would keep that for later when they separated Lucas from the group. What the hell is going on? I thought that you would follow my instructions to the dot.", the Marquess said, clearly enraged.
"After Meredith gave her word that she was confident in keeping Lucas in the second floor longer than the rest of the members, Erath put the Minotaur in the third floor in hopes that they would face at least one causality.", the voice said.
"One causality? A joke. Send a few others there immediately. I still need more time. Stall them longer. We should wait longer until Lucas can no longer handle it. And then, he should- just make sure that they stay in the third floor. Do whatever you have to do.", she said.
"Yes. I shall instruct Erath.", the voice said. A swish sound came, and the door was slightly open after.
"This is why I wanted to take care of everything on my own. Who would have thought that everyone would be so stupid and sub-par.", the Marquess sighed as she took a seat.
