Chapter 214 - Phantoms
After a few hours, Long Jie reached London airport where Feng Siyan\'s subordinates would be taking him to the hospital where Lord Tang was getting treatment. He had left Zhenyi in the bed with a heavy heart but what could he do when his soul was leaving his body bit by bit.
Two of the most important people to him had been injured in just a short time. First, Zhenyi and now his brother…
He just prayed for Lord Tang\'s well-being.
"Young master Jie," Feng Siyan uttered as he saw Long Jie approaching him, followed by his loyal assistant, Gu Tian. He nodded at Gu Tian in greeting after Long Jie.
Long Jie left all the subordinates - senior courtesy and hugged Feng Siyan. They were brothers first. They had seen each other\'s bad days more than anyone.
Feng Siyan didn\'t avoid the brotherly embrace. He may not know it before but he really needed it.
When he heard of Lord Tang\'s hospitalization, he was hamstrung. He didn\'t know what to do and who to call for help, and then Long Jie\'s name rang in his mind. And he didn\'t disappoint him.
"Ah-Siyan, how is brother?" Long Jie asked him in concern.
Long Jie had now reached the hospital. They had entered the private wing of the hospital. It was constructed by the team.of Lord Tang in the name of public welfare but only some knew the real reason behind it.
"He is now out of danger but his injuries are quite serious. He won\'t be conscious for the next few hours," said Feng Siyan in a monotonous voice but Long Jie could feel the trembles. He paused and the invisible trembles became naked. "Ah-Jie, it was close...so close. We could have lost him…"
They could have lost him, and it was enough of a thought to send all of them into the pit of despair.
"He is fine, isn\'t he?" Long smiled a sad smile. "Ah-Siyan, he always slays. He has always been like this for the last fifteen years, hasn\'t he?"
The men had known Lord Tang for about fifteen years of their life and it was enough of a period for them to build a connection which no-one would break.
Feng Siyan nodded. "We need to have a serious talk right now."
Indeed, a serious conversation was needed, but it was not the appropriate place.
Long Jie gave a look to him and Gu Tian, who followed them to an empty room in the same wing of the hospital. They entered the room and were surprised to see that the ordinary-looking room had a secret suite built inside it. Perhaps, Long Jie didn\'t know what wonders this ordinary-looking room was capable of.
"Who was behind the attack, Feng Siyan?" Long Jie asked the question without wasting any seconds. He knew that the story behind the attack was not as simple as it seemed.
Hearing Long Jie\'s question, Feng Siyan\'s face darkened and a vicious look entered his eyes.
"The Phantom council. "
The name was enough for causing Long Jie and Gu Tian\'s eyes to widen in disbelief.
"How is it possible?" Gu Tian asked the question in horror.
"Exactly. No one knows what Lord Tang looks like. They don\'t even have any idea about his gender. Then, how is it possible that they sent assassins to assassinate him?" The question came from Long Jie. Lord Tang was an enigma and a real phantom.
How could you kill a ghost?
Therefore, it was quite startling for both Gu Tian and Long Jie to accept the unacceptable.
Feng Siyan let out a sigh, resigned that it was what it was. He initially thought the same when he had heard that his master was taken to London for treatment, and when he inquired about the one behind the attack, he was more than just startled. However, his doubts were resolved when he came here and met Cyrus.
Cyrus was a feared and respected name in their world. He didn\'t work for anyone. His infamous slogan was \'I\'m my own boss\'. So, it would be astonishing for Long Jie, and other men to know that Cyrus was aware of Lord Tang\'s identity.
"And Cyrus saved Lord Tang," added Feng Siyan as if the information he first dumped on Long Jie was less of horror.
Long Jie sighed a long sigh and rubbed his hands all over his face in exasperation. "Cryus? Are you kidding me, Ah-Siyan? Since when did he start working for brother? He was at war against Longs for as long as I can remember and for whatever reason only he knew."
Long Jie glanced at Feng Siyan again and asked," He really worked for brother?"
"Everyone works for Lord Tang," was the only reply Feng Siyan could give.
Behind Gu Tian snickered inwardly at Feng Siyan\'s narcissism.
"Alright. I get it," Long Jie reacted, a suspicion jumped into his head. "How did The Phantom Council figure out the infamous Lord Tang?"
"They didn\'t," Feng Siyan replied. "And they didn\'t send assassins to end him either, they wanted someone else and...master cherished that someone more than anything else in the world. He went to save someone, Ah-Jie, but got injured in the process."
One must be wondering what The Phantom Council was? It was an organization that was ruling the underground market of Europe for the last six decades. The people from the organization were really like the Phantom as the name itself suggested. They were in the government organizations, the terrorist organizations, and also in the elite class. They consisted of the rich and there was no scarcity of poor either.
They had no real motto for existing other than creating trouble for the peaceful world. These people were the same who would take initiatives for protecting the environment and these people were also the same who would plant bombs in any developed country and cause an economic problem for their own entertainment.
No one knew how they ruled and what they were ruling exactly. But it could be said that Phantoms (members of the Phantom council) were a group of sick twisted people thinking for the welfare of the world or it was what they were telling its members for as long as they existed.
The Phantoms considered themselves as the true patriots but it was far from true. The mentality of the people joining the organization was that they were serving their respective countries and people but just differently from the rest.
For instance, many years ago a case was made public but it never reached the true public as it was suppressed before it could reach the public domain by the Phantoms itself. The reason for its suppression was that one of the core members of the council was killed by the army of that country. And why he was killed?
Well, it was a story of another time.
The Phantom council was untouchable. But only until the White Knights didn\'t emerge.
The White Knights originated in China with a different name around three decades ago, it dominated Asia in the first decade, and in the next decade, it slowly started spreading to East Europe. The Phantoms were of the view that it was yet another mob, but they failed to track down its real history and records. It was the biggest mistake on the part of The Phantom Council as there came a day when The White Knights became a force to be reckoned with.
They were undefeatables now.
Long Jie along with many other core members of the organization called The White Knights had no idea about its founder, but they did know that a teenager emerged out of nowhere claiming to be the next Lord of the organization known as Lord Tang led the organization fifteen years ago to the position where it was now.
Both of the giants had many bones of contention between them but the current unresolved issue between the two organizations was proving to be more fatal with each passing day.
"Is this someone related to brother\'s family?" Long Jie asked. He had heard about Lord Tang\'s family.
Feng Siyan nodded. "Phantom\'s got wind of our German project. Unbeknownst to us, they have planted a spy among us, and the spy managed to leak some of the major and sensitive information, especially the one no one was aware of."
Shit. It was more serious than he could fathom. Long Jie knew what the German project meant and if Germans got the information about it...then, it meant that the sick group of so-called patriots were ready to destroy another country.
They were no saints either, but still, destroying a country for nothing meant a sin to them, sinners, too.
