Chapter 185 - Unrequited Love
?You, do you remember me?
Like, I remember you
Do you spend your life, going back in your mind to that time?
\'Cause I, I walk the streets alone
I hate being on my own
And everyone can see that, I really fell
And I\'m going through hell
Thinking about you with somebody else?
Zhang Han\'s voice was so mesmerizing and hypnotic that everyone present there was in awe of his voice. Their eyes were glued on his gorgeous face as if they couldn\'t look anywhere but just at him.
But his eyes were fixed on the only person who was sitting tables away from where he was playing with the band. She was the one he was singing for tonight but only if she knew.
The chords elicited by the guitar sent a shiver down Fan Bing\'s spine. The music was making people cry for the love that was left behind. And his voice? It was magical. It was hauntingly beautiful.
Her eyes were fixed on her hands. She didn\'t dare to look at him. Though she was not looking in his direction, she could feel his unwavering gaze on her face.
Zhang Han\'s and Fan Bingbing\'s equation unbalanced one night when she was drunk out of her mind.
Fan Bingbing was not an alcoholic, but she could drink more than anyone else she knew. However, the current circumstances had been affecting her so much that drinking to oblivion that one night was the only option she could see as far as she tried. Zhenyi had taught her about every problem that could be drowned in a bottle of whiskey. So she drank to lessen the pain. To forget about all the problems. To forget, a second that life was not slipping out of her hands. To forget that her unrequited love would always be left unrequited.
She always wanted to make Sam see that her feelings for him had always been real and very much serious but she failed to do it. Her story of unrequited love ended that night when Sam called and asked her out or it was what she had initially thought.
And that moment, she felt that it was the happiest moment of her life but all her dreams and beliefs shattered once she met him. It was as if someone had hit the mirror.
He was leaving and it was his final goodbye to her. He was not coming back. Well, technically he would be returning to the country for his family but not for her.
?Somebody wants you, somebody needs you
Somebody dreams about you every single night
Somebody can\'t breathe, without you it\'s lonely
Somebody hopes that one day you will see
That somebody\'s me
That somebody\'s me?
Zhang Han\'s voice broke her trail of thoughts. She finally glanced at him and just like she had predicted he was gazing at her. The intensity of emotions in his eyes was bewildering.
He was pursuing her as he had announced one day. Of course, Fan Bingbing immediately refused. She was not ready for a relationship with anyone right now. But Zhang Han was a very persistent being but he understood where she was coming from.
However, tonight he persuaded her to come out for dinner with him. She didn\'t want to but she couldn\'t refuse either as she owed it to him.
Now call it cliche or whatever, drunk Fan Bingbing might have pounced on the poor Zhang Han, but like a gentleman he was, he saved her chastity from being stolen, and not only that he also took care of her drunken mess.
She looked at him again and got lost in his voice. It was as if he was bleeding out his heart before her. His music was beautiful but equally sad too. She had never heard anything like it. Though her relationship with him was completely platonic yet she couldn\'t help but get emotional as she kept on listening to him.
The man was wearing his heart on his sleeves. It was dangerous and she was all too familiar with it.
Once he hit the last note, a round of thundering applause broke out in appreciation for him. People started surrounding him. Some shook their hands with him. Some patted his shoulder. And some just recorded his performance on their phones. Soon, their phones would be confiscated because he was a public figure now and his manager wouldn\'t let him get in any kind of trouble.
He returned the guitar to the original owner and thanked him and headed towards their table.
"So?" Zhang Han smiled as he took the seat next to her.
"You really have a very mesmerizing voice," Fan Bingbing returned his smile and took a sip of her wine.
"Thank you."
A waiter came and refilled their glasses. None of them spoke for a few minutes. Fan Bingbing was trying to cut short the dinner but she didn\'t want to make him feel that he was not deserving of having dinner with her but still she didn\'t want to lead him on. She knew exactly how it felt like.
"Stop overthinking," Zhang Han murmured as he looked at her fidgeting.
"Umm..yeah?" Her eyes widened funnily but she managed to school her features immediately. Benefit of being Zhenyi\'s assistant for years. She was not the one to ever get intimidated by anyone but the man sitting in front of her was affecting her in a very odd and confusing way.
"Nothing," He said with a smile. He didn\'t want to make the night more difficult for her than it already was.
\'Why does he have to be so understanding?\' She inwardly thought. It was making her feel like an empathic bitch but what could she do about it?
That Sam, the ultimate bastard, had ruined her good for any other man.
