Chapter 484: I Don’t Have Money
Chapter 484: I Don’t Have Money
“No, how am I rich in any way? Your husband is her son but instead of paying for her medical expenses, he wants his niece to pay instead. Is your family crazy?”
Chen Yulian immediately sat on her knees and began to cry out loud.
“Oh God, what sins has my mother-in-law committed in her last life to deserve such an unfilial granddaughter…”
Her crying was so loud that it caught the attention of the family members of a few patients and the medical staff on that floor.
“My poor mother-in-law is seriously ill, and her granddaughter, who has always been the apple of my mother-in-law’s eyes. However, after she became rich, she turned her back against us and refuses to pay her grandmother’s medical expenses that have amounted to a million yuan. My mother-in-law is so pitiful! If her late son and daughter-in-law were to find out, they’ll definitely drag this unfilial daughter of theirs down with them…”
Two nurses came over to stop Chen Yulian from kicking up such a fuss but the latter stubbornly refused.
She was certain that Yan Jinyi would not dare to resort to violence in front of so many people. Thus, she started winking at her children while weeping.
Her youngest son was extremely prideful and didn’t want to be embarrassed so he stood far away from them. Having learned her lesson since the previous incident, Liu Yaxi didn’t dare to act presumptuously.
However, when she thought of the fact that Chen Yulian had promised to buy her a genuine designer bag after she got some money, she suddenly knelt onto the ground and began sobbing as her shoulders twitched. “Jinyi, Grandma is so pitiful. I’m sure you know what my younger brother is like. We really can’t afford to pay the bills. Jinyi, please save Grandma!”
The surrounding outsiders were all women and after hearing those words, they were immediately filled with righteous indignation. Thus, they started to help Chen Yulian and Liu Yaxi rebuke Yan Jinyi.
“How can there be such a heartless little ingrate? She should have been strangled to death right after she was born?”
“Exactly. Look at what she’s wearing, she must have earned lots of money. Yet, she can’t even bear to pay for her grandmother’s medical expenses now that her grandmother is seriously ill and on her deathbed. If I were her grandmother, I would have long been angered to death.”
An older woman came forward and glared at Yan Jinyi with great displeasure. “Young lady, you should be doing more merit and show your grandmother filial piety while she is still alive. Otherwise, you will regret it when she’s gone in the future.”
“Exactly. Look, even your cousin is more understanding than you are.”
Yan Jinyi particularly detested nosy parkers who liked reprimanding others without getting their facts right.
“If your grandmother is ill, do you think you should look for her son for money first or her granddaughter first?” Yan Jinyi asked rhetorically.
The old lady frowned and said, “As her granddaughter, you ought to pay. Can’t you see that your uncle’s family is struggling to make ends meet? Thank God you’re not my granddaughter. Otherwise, I’ll definitely beat you to death.”
Huo Qingyuan was just about to stand up for Yan Jinyi but Yan Jinyi suddenly slapped her thighs and cried out loud too. “Three million yuan! We’re talking about three million yuan! I worked so hard, scrimped and saved every penny I had for more than two decades but your entire family cheated me out of all my money. Now…now you’re still expecting me to sell my kidney for Grandma’s treatment? Have you got a conscience at all?”
Chen Yulian and Liu Yaxi both stared at Yan Jinyi with astonishment.
She was very pretty and now that she was weeping miserably, she did look rather pitiful.
“Is there still justice in this world? You married my uncle as a divorcee with two children and cheated me out of my three million yuan. What else do you want? Are those three million yuan not enough for my grandmother’s surgery? Is it that hard to pay for her bills when you have so much money? Have you got a conscience at all? I paid for the tuition fees of both your son and daughter. I even had to go around finding money to pay for the down payment of your house. Are you people out to kill me?”
Yan Jinyi was getting out of breath while crying.
