Chapter 57 A Mission, Finally
I sighed, "Yes I know"
"Good," Jonah replied, as if finally satisfied with my response
It didn\'t take us long to reach the Jonah\'s place.
It was a gated community. If I had to place living there in some financial range, from the outside looks I\'d say they were definitely on the semi luxurious side.
Like the houses on the start were definitely mansions meant for millionaires or billionaires, but as we went further in, there were 5 floor apartment buildings on each block.
One of those buildings was Jonah\'s home.
"Wanna come in?" She asked while getting out of the car.
"Nah, I want to go home for now." I answered.
suddenly the system window popped up,
[ Sub mission (optional)
Time: 48 hours ]
[ Discover Jonah\'s secret ]
[ Reward: Algorithm shover ]
[ Failure: Stub your toe, when you least expect it ]
\'Really system, why couldn\'t have you given this just a second ago, when she just asked me if I wanted to come in?\'
[oops]
I took a deep breath, hopefully waiting for her to ask me again, or say something along the lines of \'really?\' or \'please\'.
But she just shut the door behind her and through the window she said, "well thanks for dropping me then."
I had to make my choice, fast.
"Hey! uhh... could I get some water?" I asked politely.
Jonah chuckled, "Come on in, then."
I got out of the car, and we walked into the building together.
Jonah searched through her pockets for a silver credit card sized card, and touched it on the display of the elevator.
In just a few seconds, the door opened up to a medium-sized elevator, which had the third floor automatically set as its destination.
Upon reaching the floor, Jonah unlocked the door with her card.
She held the door for me in a gentlemanly fashion. "Guests first."
"Sure," I said and walked in without hesitation.
"come on, at least pretend to be a gentleman" Jonah groaned as she walked in, shutting the door behind her.
"Do you believe men and women are equal?" I asked Jonah.
"I see where you are going with that," She chuckled and continued, "I was mostly raised by a single mom, so, I know women are weaker than men in some places and stronger in others, but what I do believe that apart from their biological differences they should have equal rights." She concluded, giving the perfect answer to the woman\'s red flag detector question.
"My bad young lady, this toad couldn\'t recognize the beauty of the jade swan." I said in a cringy Victorian era voice.
Jonah laughed, "where did you even get that from?"
"A badly translated Chinese novel," I replied with a smile.
she gave a small puff as she walked to the kitchen area, while I solidified my seat on the couch in her living room.
While she was gone, I could only think about what could even be Jonah\'s secret.
I didn\'t even bother thinking about what the reward was going to be.
The quest only popped up, \'after\' Jonah asked me to come in, which could possibly mean that discovering her secret has got something to with her home.
I scanned the living room, but in just a second Jonah came in.
Of course, it didn\'t take her long to get just a glass of water.
I drank down the water in a single continuous sip.
Putting the glass down, and coming to the conclusion that discovering a secret, knowing nothing about said secret, is going to be next to impossible.
Hence, I decided to be somewhat direct.
Let me rephrase that,
I asked her, "Hey, it\'s just the two of us. You got any secrets to share." I said a flirty voice.
Past me would have definitely been choking on embarrassment and cringe right now.
But the new me was barely swallowing the cringe and embarrassment right now.
