Chapter 116 - Yellow Desert
Feeling the tension in the air, the receptionist immediately took action as she coughed to gather Leon\'s attention.
The other Adventurers were also trying to crowd them as they expected that there might be a fight. Unfortunately for them, the receptionist managed to act in time.
Hearing her cough, Ban does not want to back down at first, but upon seeing that Delo was already quite pale, he finally decided to stop.
Delo immediately looked away as he heaved a sigh as he felt relieved that nothing bad had happened. However, he did not apologize for what just happened. In fact, he was already brewing a revenge plan deep inside his mind at the moment.
Belle saw his expression and she could not help but just to shake her head. She knew that this kind of attitude would only get her in trouble. She was already troublesome to begin with and if her bodyguard was also troublesome, then sooner or later, they would really come into a trouble that even her father would not be able to save them in time.
He was arrogant, and did not like to back down. He also acted on his own wish and sometimes would go against her order.
Just like now for example, if the receptionist did not stop the Gold Rank Adventurer Leon in tims, who knows what will happen next. If a fight happens to break out, she would be lucky if she won\'t be implicated by his actions.
\'I\'ll just change him after this Quest is over!\' Belle thought as she watched the arrogant Delo walking behind her back with an ugly expression.
After the receptionist restrained the situation, the other Adventurers that were about to crowd around them finally started dispersing. They felt it was a shame as they really wanted to see Delo getting into a fight. It\'s not that they wanted to root for him, but instead, they just wanted to see him getting beaten.
Delo was known for his cold and arrogant attitude toward others. He always looked at others as if he was above them and that they were beneath him. If not only for his backing, many Adventurers would surely settle their debt against him.
They were happy that Delo did not disappoint them again this time. He managed to make another enemy again, and this time, it was actually a Gold Rank Adventurer, the same Rank as that of his backer. They wanted to see what would be the result of this confrontation. Too bad the receptionist stopped it in time.
However, rumors about the fight already started circulating around the city. More and more people now knew of Leon\'s existence, a new Gold Rank Adventurer that popped out of nowhere.
Aside from that, there was also another rumor that even Ban was able to encounter yesterday while serving the Adventurers at the Kuys Bar.
Apparently, a Night Worm\'s body was discovered at the Lagom Forest. It was wrinkled as if someone had sucked it dry. The Adventurers were alarmed by this as they did not know whether they should worry or feel happy about the situation.
One of their nightmares was killed, but the killer was unknown. A nightmare was really killed, but they thought that nothing had changed as another nightmare was also born. It even sucked the Night Worm dry, how much more, them.
At first, Ban was nervous upon hearing those rumors. He thought that someone might have seen him during that time. However, upon hearing the \'whole\' rumor, he could not help but find it amusing instead. He just shook his head as he does not plan on correcting these rumors.
The receptionist explained again the requirements of the Quest. It is a high-level Quest that involves a Gold Rank Adventurer and she needs to set all of the details in place as even if she missed a single detail, the Guild Leader would surely reprimand and cut her wage again.
Ban fully understood the content of the Quest and as the issuer, Belle also understood it fully.
After she finished her explanation, the receptionist finally left them alone so that they could discuss things on their own for the Quest.
Belle took a piece of cloth from her pocket and spread it on the table. An illustration of the bird could be seen there, it was the Wood Swallow that she wanted to see being hunted.
"You only want to see one of them getting hunted, right?" Ban asked with the voice produced by the Ant Mask.
"Yes… I only need to observe for now but in the future, I plan on hunting them myself when I already have the capability." She answered.
"Alright, then let\'s go now!" Ban said as he stood up from his chair.
"Okay!" Belle also followed suit and followed behind him as they slowly arrived outside the Adventurers Guild.
Even though Delo was displeased by the situation, as he was getting ignored by Belle, he just ignored it for now as he also could do nothing about it, yet. Behind him was his Summoned Turtle that was trying to keep up on their walking speed.
The Turtle felt mistreated as it expected that it should be carried by its owner. However, it knew of his owner\'s current mood so it could only endure the silent torment. If not for the fact that the Turtle was already an E-Elite Rank Monster, it would surely not be able to cope up with them.
After a little while, they searched for a carriage so that they could be transported to the south side of the city. The Yellow Desert was located there and it is the place where the Wood Swallow and the Boney Porcupine were mostly seen.
As she was the Quest issuer, Belle was the one who paid for their fare.
After a few minutes, the carriage driver dropped them off at the periphery of the Yellow Desert. Belle paid him the right amount and also another extra in exchange for waiting for them here. The carriage driver agreed enthusiastically as it pocketed the Silver Coins that Belle just paid.
Belle was not worried about the carriage driver running off with those few amounts of Silver Coins, she already warned the carriage driver in advance that if he was not there when they came back, she would use her father\'s influence to search for him.
The carriage driver could only gulp his saliva as he listened to the little girl\'s threat. He thought it was just empty but upon recalling that they are Adventurers, he just decided to stay even if what she said was not the truth.
The trio did not waste their time any longer as they walked ahead to search for the Wood Swallow.
The Yellow Desert, just like what its name implies, was a desert consisting of yellow sands. When one observes ahead, they would not be able to see anything other than endless yellow sand.
Belled and Delo took a cloth to cover their whole face from the sands and the sun. Ban already had the mask and the cloak so he was not afraid of the sand entering his eyes or the sun burning his skin.
They slowly covered themselves as they walked towards the location where a Wood Swallow was last spotted.
After a couple of minutes of walking, they finally arrived in a valley of sand. Belle checked the area again and after confirming that it was really the place provided by the information they got, she turns her head towards, Leon and said, "We\'re already here, Mr. Leon. This is the place where my source said that they last saw a Wood Swallow Beast."
Ban nodded his head and went ahead of them a bit. He was already familiar with the Beast\'s behavior so he would be able to tell directly if a Wood Swallow Beast was around.
At the same time, he also checked if there were any Boney Porcupines around.
Although a Wood Swallow was a type of bird Beasts, it actually does not use its flying ability by much as they would always bury themselves on the sands to search for small insect Beast to feast on. The hardest thing about killing one was actually the fact that it could not be located easily.
It also uses its natural ability to dig on the sand to hide and escape from predators.
Ban now somehow knew of Belle\'s purpose on why she wanted to observe someone killing the Wood Swallow. He heard that her father was the head of all the Guards.
With a status like that, she would not need to issue this kind of Quest as her father could just directly provide someone capable of killing a Wood Swallow.
However, what if none of them are capable of locating a Wood Swallow? Even though they have the strength, how can they kill a Wood Swallow if they can\'t even find one?
Ban guessed that the real purpose of her issuing the Quest was just really to know how to successfully locate a Wood Swallow.
Ban crouched down to touch the sand beneath his feet.
Just as he was about to tell them that there\'s no Wood Swallow at their current location, he suddenly felt a huge tremor beneath them.
