Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Nip It In The Bud
A teardrop fell from her eye as she put on her usual weak appearance.
“My brother just got into university, he can’t continue his studies without my financial support…” Her tears ran free like loose beads as her shoulders trembled. She looked as helpless as she could.
Alexandra looked away with disgust. Her terrible acting skills could only land her the job of a streamer at most. It seemed like any person could get into the company and it was time to tweak the company’s standards.
Alexandra fixed her gaze on Kaiden and waited for his decision!
After all, the company was handed to him and Sasha was his employee. It was his business regardless of what decision he would make.
“Since you know that your brother just got into university, shouldn’t you work hard to be a good example as his sister? You’ve been scheming for advancement instead! Don’t you feel sorry for your brother?”
Kaiden was not affected by her actions. The company’s future would be questionable if a woman’s tears were enough to make him change his mind.
“Save your tears, I gave you a chance but you blew it. You are not fitting for Tweet Streaming anymore. You should leave and find another company.”
He took out a cheque from his office drawer and scribbled it with a pen.
“Here’s a cheque worth 7,000 dollars. Take it as an aid for your brother from me, that’ll teach you.”
“I…”
Sasha took the cheque and stood there at a loss.
She understood that it was impossible for her to stay and her repentance would not change anything.
“Thank you!”
She left the office after thanking Kaiden.
Watching her plan fail again when she thought that everything was going well, Alexandra could no longer smile. She grabbed her bag and left the company unhappily.
“Alex, how was it!?”
Looking at her sisters’ expectant gaze, Alex sighed dejectedly. “What do you think? It’s off!”
“It can’t be! Is he a monk?”
Jazmine burst into laughter because of Yvonne’s comical phrase.
“Stop laughing! What are we gonna do now? Don’t forget that all of us are in this together.”
Looking at Jazmine who was cackling happily, Luna could no longer force a smile.
As the youngest among the sisters, she might be the unlucky one if her sisters refuse to get married to Kaiden.
Besides, only Jazmine and she were of similar age with Kaiden among them.
She knew that the stubborn Jazmine would never agree to get married to a stranger and she would pass the ill fate to her eventually.
“Sis, what are we gonna do now?”
Jazmine was amused to see her sister panicking like a cat on hot bricks.
“Luna, I think that you shouldn’t resist, you and Kaiden are similar in age. Besides, he looked after you a lot when you were young. Perhaps marrying him isn’t a bad thing.” Jazmine could not help but tease her.
Luna’s fair cheeks flushed red instantly as she glared at Jazmine in anger, “Jaz, how can you say that? If that’s how you want to talk, I remember him peeling corn for you!”
Even Jazmine who always held herself aloof became uncomfortable when their past was mentioned.
“I was young! Hey, brat, is this how you should talk to your elder sister?”
As expected, the youngest Luna shut her mouth sadly before turning her gaze onto Alexandra.
“Alex~”
She called out in a soft and pleasant voice, her high pitch causing the others to have goosebumps subconsciously.
“Cough…”
“Well, it’s not fair for either of us to get married, it isn’t fair but we can’t just ignore Mom’s orders…”
Alexandra fell into a daze.
“We have to stay composed no matter what. After all, we can’t be fussy in front of Mom although the decision is hers. We shouldn’t upset her.”
Jazmine’s eyes shone when she heard that. “Von is right! Perhaps Kaiden will lose interest in us if we treat him indifferently like we usually do and he will not insist.”
No one would be willing to marry someone who would not love him back because he would have to face a cold face every single day. Jazmine figured that even Kaiden would not be able to stand it.
Yvonne shrugged her shoulders helplessly as the girls seemed not to understand what she meant.
Looking at her struggling sisters, Alexandra became exasperated and said casually, “There’s still time, let’s just observe him more!”
“That’s right!” The youngest Luna snapped them out of their daze. “We have to observe him carefully to see whether he has some hidden motive or improper conduct! I’m sure that Mom will not force us to marry him if he has any!”
Although a promise was a promise, their mother would certainly have other solutions as it concerned her daughter’s happiness.
Realizing that Luna finally understood her meaning, Alexandra was relieved that not everyone in her family was stupid.
It would be great if the loophole could be found easily.
“Don’t get happy too fast. Don’t forget that he’s in the livestream company and there are plenty of beautiful ladies there. I have been observing him for the past two days but there wasn’t any incident that I was expecting.”
Alexandra’s words caused her sisters to slump again.
“By the way, I spent the whole day with him. Who’s taking over for tomorrow?”
“Hmm?”
Alexandra raised a brow as she stared at her sisters who began to stutter as they avoided eye contact.
“Uh…Alex, I think Jaz should go first!”
“I’m not close with Kaiden, it’d be awkward for us to be together! Besides, he used to bully me a lot.”
