Chapter 212 Crossing Swords for the First Time

Chapter 212 Crossing Swords for the First Time

As the Spear of Holy Light slowly was condensed in Xiao Feng’s hand, Firestorm Tyrant suddenly had a bad feeling. He immediately ran away without looking back. He didn’t even dare to start kitting.

Xiao Feng was in hot pursuit, and he kept rubbing the Spear of Holy Light in his hand. The two of them ran through the chaotic battlefield with one of them in pursuit while the other one in flight. The battlefield became more chaotic as a result of their movements.

Firestorm Tyrant was brown. But his skin was so tanned that it looked more striking than the skin of black people. It seemed that he had a high reputation in the Joint Theater. The players in the Joint Theater had retreated to somewhere he didn’t go lest they accidentally got injured.

“Take that!”

The Spear of Holy Light finally finished its channeling. Xiao Feng bent his body backwards at the waist, and then hurled the spear forcefully. The Spear of Holy Light turned into a beam of flowing light and shot towards Firestorm Tyrant like a bolt of lightning.

Firestorm Tyrant looked back while juking frantically. He relied on his high agility attribute to make all kinds of evasive movements.

However, the Spear of Holy Light seemed to be equipped with an automatic aiming and tracking device which was locked on to the landing site of Firestorm Tyrant.

“Hit!”

“-72!”

A stifled moan escaped Firestorm Tyrant’s lips as his chest was impaled by the Spear of Holy Light. In an instant, his torso was pinned to the ground where he suffered the effects of Paralysis. He couldn’t move his body at all.

Although “Paralysis” was considered a control effect, it wasn’t as potent as Vertigo and Freeze. Even so, Xiao Feng was satisfied with what it did.

“Hey! I have caught a big one! Allow me, your big brother to help you!”

Xiao Feng was just about to approach Firestorm Tyrant to deliver the finishing blow when he heard a voice. A shadow suddenly appeared from the side and was now charging straight at Firestorm Tyrant. Xiao Feng realized that it was just Shangguan Aochen who had appeared out of nowhere. From the looks of it, Shangguan Aochen had probably just arrived at the Bonus Area.

Xiao Feng felt happy as he heard the voice. He was worried about the Firestorm Tyrant would escape. When Xiao Feng was about to move forward and launch a converging attack against Firestorm Tyrant with Shangguan Aochen, a sudden bolt of sword aura shot towards Xiao Feng.

“Eh?”

Xiao Feng stopped short. That sword aura was not directed at him, but blocked his way. Its warning was strong.

Xiao Feng immediately turned around and found that Ximen Chuixue was holding a sword and stood 10 meters away. He held a sword and pointed it at Xiao Feng. Obviously, that sword aura was Ximen Chuixue’s doing.

“Ximen! He is my big brother! Don’t mess around!” Shangguan Aochen shouted loudly.

Shangguan Aochen who was attacking Firestorm Tyrant somehow found the time to glance backwards and shouted immediately..

But Firestorm Tyrant had managed to free himself from Paralysis’ effect by then. He fled crazily with the remaining of his Health Points. Shangguan Aochen glanced to the left and then the right. With his teeth clenched, he chased after Firestorm Tyrant while casting anxious looks at Xiao Feng and Ximen Chuixue.

“Anyone who offends the Antiquity Guild must die.”

Ximen Chuixue had a plain appearance, but when he spoke, his voice was cold and his face was impassive.

“Come on, then.”

Xiao Feng smiled nonchalantly. Shangguan Aochen had already warned Xiao Feng about this when he killed Murong Yun last time. It seemed like this battle was unavoidable.

Although Xiao Feng hadn’t actually seen Ximen Chuixue’s true strength, he had heard a lot of rumors about him. Xiao Feng expected Ximen Chuixue to be a master. Nevertheless Xiao Feng didn’t have a bit of retreat. Instead, his eyes were full of expectation.

He was a genius in his family. Xiao Feng had heard a lot stories about Ximen Chuixue, but he didn’t know which state he had reached.

“Master Healer! Master Ximen! Please don’t get into a fight! Everything can be settled through discussion! Don’t let other theaters take advantage of it!”

Xiao Feng chased Firestorm Tyrant until they reached a place not too far from the Dynasty Guild. When Lao Xu, who was hiding in some unknown place, saw what was happening, he quickly stepped in and tried to mediate between the two masters.

But as soon as he emerged, he was hit on the head by a fireball which came out of nowhere. He died on the spot before he even knew what hit him.

The 17-year-old Archer who was supposed to protect Lao Xu stood nearby, and was too stunned to even do anything. He beheld the scene before him as if he had just came face to face with the God of Plague. After that, he turned around and walked away.

“Hum!”

However, neither Xiao Feng nor Firestorm Tyrant was the slightest bit perturbed by what just happened. Instead, they turned a deaf ear to everything. Ximen Chuixue’s cold hum marked the formal beginning of their confrontation.

“Swish!”

Ximen Chuixue launched the first attack with a Dashing Stab, followed by a Double Slash. Then his long blade sliced through the air to produce a burst of light in the shape of a cross. From the air, the light charged towards Xiao Feng in an attempt to cleave him.

It was like Xiao Feng didn’t possess the awareness to avoid close quarters combat at all as a priest usually did. In an instant, he cast four buffs on himself and replaced the therapeutic scepter in his hand with the Golden Bull Totem. Instead of retreating, he charged forward and swung the mace-like Golden Bull Totem forcefully. His strike met the cross-shaped light head-on, smashing it apart. Xiao Feng kept the momentum going, charged forward again and aimed a smashing blow at Ximen Chuixue’s skull.

“Block!”

Ximen Chuixue parried the Golden Bull Totem with an upward slash. Ximen Chuixue took advantage of that by making a sweeping slash. A beam of ice blue sword aura flew towards Xiao Feng’s waist.

Xiao Feng made a sudden leap into the air. While in the air, he held the Golden Bull Totem tightly with both hands. The Golden Bull Totem was raised over his head and a Golden Giant Hammer which was twice the size of Xiao Feng was condensed. From above, the Golden Hammer struck down at Ximen Chuixue.

The body of Ximen Chuixue was light. With just a light tip of his toes, his body spun away in a series of backflips as if he was dancing in the air. All it took were two light tips of his toes on the ground to move his body a few meters away from where he had been moments ago. Now, he was outside of the skill range of the Hammer of Judgement.

“Miss!”

The Hammer of Judgement had missed. Ximen Chuixue’s long sword vibrated slightly the moment he found a stable footing. He rotated his wrist and spun his sword around, creating a flower-shaped pattern in the air. Four, maybe five, half-moon shaped sword auras shot towards Xiao Feng. The sword auras were cold, sharp, and swift. Xiao Feng could feel its chill even from afar.

Xiao Feng’s body was still in mid-air. The lack of leverage meant that it was impossible for him to evade the blow. A Spear of Holy Light had been condensed in Xiao Feng’s left hand at the same time as the Hammer of Judgement missed. The Spear of Holy Light flew out of Xiao Feng’s left hand and shot towards Ximen Chuixue.

“-37!”

“-32!”

“Miss!”

“-40!”

“-73!”

Several damage indicators floated above the heads of Xiao Feng and Ximen Chuixue successively.

The damage indicators that were less than 50 points were dealt by Ximen Chuixue. Xiao Feng could tell that Ximen Chuixue had allocated most of his attribute points to Agility. Ximen Chuixue’s attack power wasn’t very strong. The fact that Ximen Chuixue could even deal damage to Xiao Feng was due to the quality of his equipment.

The 73 damage points were dealt by Xiao Feng’s Spear of Holy Light. If it weren’t for the fact that the Spear of Holy Light was only Level 1 (Xiao Feng had only just learned it), Xiao Feng’s terrifying Attack Power would have allowed him to seckill Ximen Chuixue.

All that action had happened within a short period of time. Only ten seconds had passed from the time they began exchanging blows in close quarters to the time they separated from each other. Everything had happened so fast that it was impossible for the onlookers to keep up with their movements.

But the result of this brief bout could already be seen from the expressions of the two people.

Feeling a bit amazed, Xiao Feng lowered his head to look down at his body. There were a few frozen crystals on his clothes. They were all left behind by Ximen Chuixue’s sword aura.

This surprised Xiao Feng. He didn’t expect that Ximen Chuixue’s ranged attack power was so strong and able to deal cold damage. The effect of the cold damage could overwhelmingly restrain characters of any profession.

Even so, Xiao Feng’s expression appeared very relaxed. He shook his clothes lightly, and the layer of frozen crystals fell off his body. With the crowd control reduction effect of the Dragon’s Skull, freeze and speed reduction effects were almost useless against Xiao Feng.

While Ximen Chuixue was staring at Xiao Feng’s Health Points with a solemn look on his face. His brows were tightly knitted.

After casting a round of skills, it seemed as though Ximen Chuixue had dealt a lot of damage. However, Xiao Feng’s HP was as high as 800. The damage dealt by Ximen Chuixue’s attacks only managed to reduce Xiao Feng’s total Health Points by a slight amount, which was about a tenth of Xiao Feng’s total Health Points.

On the other hand, although Ximen Chuixue had only received one blow from Xiao Feng, he had already lost a third of his total Health Points. Right now, he only had slightly more than half of his Health Points left.

This was also Ximen Chuixue’s first time experiencing just how scary priests could be throughout his entire gaming career. Like most players who had crossed swords with Xiao Feng for the first time in the past, Ximen Chuixue was stunned.

In the minds of all players, priests were the weakest among all the other professions in the game. Everyone thought it would be easy to trample all over and bully priests. Other than healing and applying buffs to their teammates, priests were like sitting ducks, waiting to be slaughtered. In team fights, priests were always the subject of ridicule. They were always the first to be killed off.

However, those who had fought against Xiao Feng knew how terrifying priests could be.

At this moment, Ximen Chuixue had the same feeling. It was also his first time to fight against a priest who could actually withstand his attacks. The priests he had encountered in the past were all delicate players whom he could decimate with a single blow.

Ximen Chuixue glanced at the Health Points on Xiao Feng’s head with a solemn expression. He felt pain in his gums. He realized for the first time that once the healing ability of priests reached a certain level, they could actually boost their defenses and Health Points by leaps and bounds.

But when Ximen Chuixue checked his own Health Points and saw that it was now down to half, he was once again puzzled. How could Xiao Feng’s attack power be this high?

Was this still the delicate profession that everyone thought? Xiao Feng’s buff had boosted his attributes by way too much. He had completely disrupted the balance between professions!

Ximen Chuixue was silent. He felt depressed. It was only then that he could fully appreciate the truth behind the saying, “No matter how powerful you are, there’s always someone better who could cut you down in a single strike.”

He knew that he wouldn’t be able to kill Xiao Feng even if he attacked tens of times. Because aside from applying buffs, priests had the stronger ability to heal and regenerate Health Points.

Ximen Chuixue was even more certain of his defeat when he considered the fact that his equipment was inferior to Xiao Feng’s. The attributes of artifacts were not to be trifled with, otherwise they wouldn’t be known as artifacts. If it weren’t for those artifacts, Ximen Chuixue would never have fallen behind the Master Healer in the various rankings of the Huaxia District.

Ximen Chuixue was not confident at all that he had the ability to kill Xiao Feng, who wielded two artifacts.

The gap in the damage was too large. None of his attacks would even cause a scratch on Xiao Feng. On the contrary, he wouldn’t even receive two blows from Xiao Feng. For the first time in his life, Ximen Chuixue was clenching his teeth so hard that even his gums hurt.

This was so f**king unfair!

“Come on, keep fighting!”

Xiao Feng looked completely relaxed and at ease. He was confident in his own tankiness as well as his high attack points. To Xiao Feng, it seemed that he was driving a tank while his opponent was sitting in a miserable little bumper car. Right now, Xiao Feng was taunting Ximen Chuixue in an imposing manner as though he was trying to teach Ximen Chuixue a lesson.

A cold look formed in Ximen Chuixue’s eyes at Xiao Feng’s taunt. He felt upset at the moment. In the blink of an eye, priests became the toughest profession to go against from the weakest profession in the game.

But that didn’t mean that he was going to back down! In fact, it only added fuel to his fighting spirit.

“Come on, then.”

Xiao Feng charged at Ximen Chuixue. However, this time around, Ximen Chuixue had learnt his lesson from the disadvantages he had suffered earlier. He would not be foolish enough to engage Xiao Feng in melee again. Instead, he retreated and made consecutive cuts with his sword. One after another, sword auras slashed at Xiao Feng. As a swordsman, he was supposed to be engaging in melee combat at all times, and yet, with the way he was playing now, he might as well be a mage who specialized in ranged attacks.

“Boom!”

Just when the two adversaries were about to clash again, a ball of explosive fire exploded between them.
