MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter

Chapter 255: Dark Grey Valley (Dragon’s Reverse Scale Extra Update 3/10)

Li Yao has continually studied and analyzed; now, the origin of the Mysterious Eye is quite clear.

Reflecting upon the spoils from the convoy raid, Li Yao gained a further understanding.

The convoy was indeed transporting an altar and its corresponding materials, destined to corrupt a certain temple of the Moon God.

However, the problem is that currently, only ancient elves worship the Moon God, and they are much more powerful than high elves.

How sacred and solemn a divine temple can be, and every temple has powerful Moon Guardians protecting it. It would be nearly impossible for the Naga to seize and corrupt the temple.

Upon receiving news, the ancient elves would surely declare a frenzied war at all costs.

Since it can’t be an existing divine temple, it must be the ruins of one.

A millennial catastrophe tore the entire continent asunder, with numerous elven cities submerged. Even the ancient capital of elves sank along with the queen.

There are many places that fit these conditions, especially the high-level seabed version that will be unlocked later.

“But wait, if it’s in the deep sea, then why would the convoy land? And if it’s along the coast, they should be able to transport everything through the endless seafloor, so there’s no need to disembark. It doesn’t make sense.”

Li Yao moved to the data area for the ancient continent, where he started researching old maps.

From studying the data to pinpointing the approximate locations, Li Yao has determined two prospective sites.

One is an underwater ruins in the shallow sea area of human territory, where there’s an underwater city. But Li Yao remembers that in his past life, the Naga only discovered this place shortly after the underwater version was launched. At present, it should still be deep in the mud.

Only when the next grand catastrophe occurs, shaking the entire world, would the city buried under mud for thousands of years gradually reveal itself.

However, he can’t reach this place right now, nor can he clear away the seabed mud by himself.

Then there’s the other target in the West Continent, which Li Yao only thought of later because the convoy was intercepted in the East Continent.

There are many inconsistencies, but the Abyss Divine Temple is the only place that can be confirmed at this stage.

After all, the four-armed Naga is only a level-15 monster and cannot possess items that are too high-level.

The Abyss Divine Temple is a side branch instance in the map of the ancient elves.

This instance was discovered three years after the game launched in Li Yao’s past life. Though it’s a side branch instance, it offered great rewards for professionals who switched to dark-related jobs or specialized in the Priest of Moon.

Therefore, ever since this instance was discovered, it has been bustling with activity.

“Whether it’s right or not, I’ll have to see for myself.” Determined, Li Yao checked his supplies, sold a batch of Shining Fruits, said goodbye to Sister Li, and then boarded the airship to the West Continent.

Li Yao arrived at the Orc Main City, then followed a supply convoy to the Dark Grey Valley.

The Dark Grey Valley is in the northwest of the Orc Main City, and one needs to cross a barren map to reach it.

This is the land of a demigod of nature, who has been killed by a corrupt cop.

The ancient elves and orcs then fostered deep hatred. Since the wood and other significant materials needed for the orc main city can be obtained here, the conflicts between the two sides have become more frequent.

Currently, the two factions are restraining themselves, but minor skirmishes have never ceased.

After the appearance of adventurers, the two factions compete against each other, usually issuing generous bounty missions to stimulate adventurers to fight among themselves.

“Pale-skinned high elf, are you here in Dark Grey Valley to earn military exploits?” The Orc Quartermaster, looking at Li Yao, asked with a frown.

“Are you doubting the fighting power of high elves?” Li Yao responded expressionless.

“You’re really humorless. Well, here is the mission list. You can accept any mission that you are interested in. But, let me warn you, your ancient cousins do not show mercy.” The Orc Quartermaster said.

“Thanks for the warning, officer.” Li Yao took the list and scanned through it with a slight frown.

He’s not here for military exploits; he’s just looking for tasks that can be completed along the way.

He had no interest in any of the tasks: attacking garrisons, hunting ancient elven guards, destroying Moon Wells.

Moreover, Li Yao felt sorry for the players who took on these tasks. The ancient elves were the first race of the Divine Continent, a title even the Dragon Clan recognized.

They are numerous and have the protection of the Moon God; hardly anyone dares to provoke them. Although the ancient elves joined the Light Faction, they only listen to orders when they feel like it.

High elves might live long, but they only live up to a thousand years at best. However, ancient elves, thanks to the blessings of the gods and the Dragon King, can live forever. Attacking their garrisons and assassinating their guards would just be courting death.

Hunt Light Faction Adventurers

Mission Description: The Light Faction adventurers have recently become increasingly aggressive and domineering, not only killing our lumberjacks but also burning our timber, which severely hindered the construction progress of the orc capital, Orgrimmar. But the adventurers are elusive, making it difficult for our troop to exterminate them.

Mission Requirements: Killing 10, 20, 30, 50, 100 adventurers will yield different rewards.

Mission Rewards: Military merit 10/30/60/150/300, experience 5%.

Locate Ancient Elf Command Base inside Dark Grey Valley

Mission Description: The ancient elves were once the masters of this forest. The ancient trees of Dark Grey Valley have existed for over one-thousand years and their roots are deeply entrenched. Until now, we still don’t know the location of the ancient elves’ headquarters in Dark Grey Valley,

Mission Requirements: Locate the ancient elf command base.

Mission Rewards: 25% experience, 500 military merits, 300 guild points, 1 gold coin.

Mission Penalty: -15% experience, -100 military merits, 10 silver coins.

Mission Difficulty: SSS

“The kill task is good, but are you sure you want to take on the task of locating the command base?” The orc quartermaster patted Li Yao on the shoulder, saying, “I don’t mean to underestimate you, but with your small stature, you’ll probably have trouble infiltrating the valley, let alone going behind enemy lines to locate the command base. It’s no secret that over a hundred thousand adventurers have taken upon this task due to its attractive reward. As you would expect, all of them ended up giving up… and penalized for failure.”

“Thank you for the warning, officer. I’ll take on these two tasks.” Li Yao gave a salute to the quartermaster, then turned and left.

“Interesting fellow.” The orc quartermaster took out a military flask and began to drink with delight.

In Dark Grey Valley, the headquarters of the ancient elves are indeed very well-hidden. Not even the players from the Dark Camp, let alone players from the Light Faction—who were right in the headquarters—knew its whereabouts. It’s a very mysterious and eerie place.

Dark Grey Valley is a typical lawless territory with plenty of tasks, ample experience points, generous loot, densely packed monsters, and abundant herbs and minerals.

Many orc and ancient elf players choose this location after they reach level 10.

Of course, as the quartermaster said, it was very dangerous here.

Though most players were disciplined and stuck to their own territories to complete tasks, there were still many players who took on military merit tasks. Killing and being killed was a common occurrence.
