Beast Taming: I Can Evolve Indefinitely

Chapter 126 - 125: Discovering the Secret Realm Tower

Bai Qiucha looked at Zhou Yan, who was excitedly distributing number plates, and couldn’t help but speak up, “I say, Yan sister, are we really okay doing this?”

“Call me Big Boss!”

Zhou Yan glared at Bai Qiucha and replied, “The instructor only said that we only need enough points topass, he didn’t specify how, so what’s wrong with it?”

Lu Qing adjusted her glasses, her gaze never leaving the book in hand, and interjected, “I agree with Zhou Yan on this. Our method is indeed the most efficient, the process isn’t that important.”

“Hmm, hmm.”

Gu Shan also nodded, quietly pocketing his own number plate.

“Alright then.”

Bai Qiucha exhaled resignedly after shooting a glance at Bai Qi, who was snickering on the side.

He was raised to face challenges head-on and had hardly ever considered taking shortcuts.

Ever since he met Bai Qi though, this was the second time he was doing so.

First, he had given up on the Tower of Gratitude and then they had formed this street gang, god knows what was coming next…

Beep, beep, beep, beep…

Just then, an alarm sounded in the cave. Two figures appeared on the screen.

“Is that… Xiao Yuan and Li Mu?”

Zhou Yan leaned in for a closer look and immediately recognized the two.

“Why are they together?”

Lu Qing responded, “We grouped up, so other people would naturally do the same. It’s quite normal.”

Zhou Yan understood and then excitedly exclaimed, “Perfect! We’ve been bullying weaklings for the past few days and it’s gotten boring. A couple of Four-Stagers will be more interesting.”

With that, Zhou Yan made a move to rally everyone for a fight.

Lu Qing quietly turned a page in her book and said calmly, “Sorry, I’m only at the third stage. I don’t want to challenge a higher stage like someone here.” Zhou Yan glanced at Gu Shan upon hearing this. Gu Shan silently held up two fingers and glanced at Lu Qing. His attitude was evident.

“That’s a bummer. Second Boss and Third Boss, come patrol with me.”

Bai Qi and Bai Qiucha looked at each other and sighed quietly.

They had initially thought that by recruiting Zhou Yan and the others to their side, they wouldn’t have to worry about being robbed. Bai Qi could then stay here peacefully for seven days.

However, things didn’t go as planned. Zhou Yan seemed to revel in her role as Big Boss and was keen on leading them on raids!

Although they gained quite a lot, their reputation had utterly tanked.

Ah, my good reputation…

The duo followed Zhou Yan out of the cave somewhat reluctantly. Meanwhile, Xiao Yuan and Li Mu had already reached the entrance.

Seeing Bai Qi’s emergence, Xiao Yuan couldn’t help but laugh, “Bai Qi, I knew it was you. I told you Zhou Yan isn’t smart enough to think of gang mugging as an efficient method.”

Bai Qi’s eye twitched slightly at Xiao Yuan’s words.

His reputation as bandit ‘Second Boss’ was now set in stone…

“Xiao Yuan, what are you implying? Looking for a fight again?”

Zhou Yan’s veins were pulsing as she prepared to battle.

Xiao Yuan shrugged, “Sorry, we’ve fought 534 times and we’ve drawn 498 times. The rest just didn’t finish, so I don’t plan on wasting time.”

“Then what did you guys come here for?”

Zhou Yan inspected the two curiously. Xiao Yuan stepped back and said, “Li Mu wanted to talk to Bai Qi, that’s it. I’m just here for the ride. Don’t mind me.”

“Li Mu?”

Zhou Yan was taken aback. She glanced at Li Mu, then back at Bai Qi behind her, seemingly understanding something.

“Uhh, what did I do this time?”

Bai Qi was clueless as everyone’s eyes suddenly shifted to him. Li Mu stepped forward and stared at Bai Qi intently.

“Bai Qi, as of today, you’re my love rival!”

Love rival? What the hell?

Bai Qi was even more confused. Meanwhile, Bai Qiucha came up to him and whispered, “Li Mu and Lu Qing are from the same city. They are childhood friends. He probably has his sights set on you.”

Lu Qing, buddy, we have talked less than ten times total. Don’t be so sensitive.

“Um, maybe you’ve misunderstood something?”

Bai Qi sighed and was about to explain when Li Mu waved his hand dismissively, “Don’t worry. I won’t overpower you with my higher level. Since you excel in runes, I’ll defeat you in that regard and prove that I’m the most suited for Lu Qing.”

With that, Li Mu turned around and left, not giving Bai Qi a chance to refute.

“Is this guy always like this?”

Bai Qi looked exasperatedly at Bai Qiucha. After receiving confirmation, he kept silent.

So, he was indeed fooled by Old Qin’s flattery.

Where were the resources that would make all masters and legends jealous? He gained an unwelcome ‘love rival’ for no reason. He hadn’t yet seen the benefits of the training, but had had to endure quite a bit of inconvenience.

“Well, as long as they’re not here to rob us, it doesn’t matter.”

Seeing this, Zhou Yan dispelled her battle stance and patted Bai Qi on the back sympathetically, “But you have to be careful Bai Qi, Li Mu always keeps his promises. He’ll surely give you a hard time.”

Bai Qi remained silent as Zhang Shan’s long-missed voice then rang out in their ears.

“Time’s up. This training session is now over.”

Just as Zhang Shan finished speaking, Bai Qi felt the world spinning around him. They were back in the assembly hall.

“Damn it, I haven’t collected my equipment!”

As soon as Bai Qi landed and was about to complain, he noticed dozens of eyes on him.

Of course, it was all hostility.

Well, it hadn’t even been ten full days of training, and it seemed that enemies were everywhere.

Bai Qi sighed heavily, instead, calming down and openly accepting the icy stares raining down on him.

He was already knee-deep in a sea of hostility. Having a few more enemies wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Zhang Shan also noticed the gazes fixed on them. He glanced at Bai Qi but didn’t add any comment, only proceeding to announce the names of those who passed.

According to the original system, only a quarter could pass the training. Because of Bai Qi, the number was even fewer now, so Zhang Shan finished the announcements quickly.

“You have a day off today. Report back tomorrow on time for theoretical classes.”

Zhang Shan packed up the results sheet, turned around, and walked away, leaving behind a group of sobbing Beast Masters.

Finally, someone thought of handing out the course schedule early.

Could the instructor please slow down? They hadn’t had a chance to lodge a complaint yet.

“Phew… we can finally rest for a while.”

Bai Qi stretched lazily. These past few days, apart from ‘robbing’… er, ‘exchanging friendly banter’ with Zhou Yan and his classmates, he’d been researching on enhancing Husky. But due to limitations in his environment, he couldn’t proceed with modifications and could finally tinker around with it properly.

Zhou Yan came up to Bai Qi, draped an arm around his neck, and asked, “Second in command, are you free this afternoon?”

Big sister, weren’t you taking the role-playing a little too seriously? And your eyes were scaring me…

You aren’t planning another ‘raid,’ are you?

This isn’t training, robbery is a crime.

Bai Qi replied, “I’m a little tired. I want to go back and rest.”

“Rest? Don’t be so weak, young man.”

Zhou Yan disdainfully scanned Bai Qi and said, “Good. I know a restaurant.

They are very skilled at nutritious meals. I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll treat you to a good meal.”

After finishing her sentence, Zhou Yan didn’t wait for Bai Qi to refuse. She turned her gaze to Bai Qiucha and the others, saying, “Third in command, white-paper-fan, you should come too.”

“I refuse.”

Lu Qing closed his book and said, “I need to report to the teacher about the recent situation. You guys go ahead.”

“Also, stop calling me white-paper-fan.”

After finishing, Lu Qing left the hall without looking back.

“So boring. That’s why I don’t like reading.”

Zhou Yan puckered her lips and looked at Gu Shan, saying, “Then, Gu Shan, you come. It isn’t fun if we are short by one.”

Upon hearing her words, Gu Shan obediently followed behind Zhou Yan, showing no signs of resistance.

After spending a few days together, Gu Shan had essentially become Zhou Yan’s follower, someone who would do her bidding without question.

“The restaurant Zhou Yan mentioned is indeed good, Bai Qi. You can give it a try.”

Bai Qiucha added, “We often interact with the Undead Department. We should take care of our health.”

Upon hearing these words, Bai Qi couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

Who needed to take care of their health? They were talking polite nonsense, but they were taking it too seriously. Once he leveled up to the fourth stage, he would see who beat whom!

Songlin City.

Suburbs.

Songyue Building.

Zhou Yan led Bai Qi and the others to the restaurant with familiarity. The owner seemed to be very friendly with Zhou Yan, leading them directly to a private room.

“Miss Zhou, the usual order?”

Zhou Yan nodded and said, “The usual, but double the portion. I’ve been starving recently.”

The owner nodded and left, while Zhou Yan turned to Bai Qi and the others, explaining, “This restaurant is quite old-fashioned, with inherited culinary skills. Besides the good taste, their food can also improve one’s constitution. While still in Songlin, you might want to come and eat here more often.” Improved constitution? So that meant all the ingredients were from ferocious beasts, right?

Understanding this, Bai Qi looked forward to it.

Their meals over the last few days had mostly been provided by Zhou Yan. While her cooking was decent, they had been eating barbeque for seven days straight. It was about time for a change, and the decor of the restaurant was indeed exquisite, located by a lake, a reminiscent of the famous buildings from Bai Qi’s past life.

“Oh, by the way, they also provide food for beast pets. Do you want to let your beasts come out and try?”

At Zhou Yan’s words, Bai Qiucha was somewhat torn between laughing and crying.

The only beast he had was a Skeleton Dragon. What could it be looking forward to eating here? Harvest souls directly?

As for Gu Shan, his beasts were all normal, but he had four of them and was a little embarrassed to call them all out.

Seeing that neither of them made a move, Bai Qi didn’t feel like summoning Husky out for a free meal either. But before Zhou Yan could persuade them further, Husky took the initiative to jump out.

This glutton, he shouldn’t have given it the permissions to enter and exit the secret realm.

Seeing Husky squirming out of the realm, Bai Qi was about to send it back, when Beta started sniffing the ground earnestly, seemingly looking for something.

“What’s wrong with this guy?”

Seeing Husky in this state, Zhou Yan and the others were puzzled, but it seemed Bai Qi had a rough idea.

This scene appeared to be somewhat familiar…

Just then, Husky suddenly stopped at the window and started to bark wildly at the lake outside.

Woo! Woo! Woo!

Then, to the astonishment of everyone, a tall tower began to slowly rise from the bottom of the lake, mysterious runes faintly visible on its surface.

The Secret Realm Tower!
