Chapter 331: I Think I’ll Go And Meet This Playboy Myself…
The two maid sisters didn\'t understand the words spoken by their Queen.
Was she not supposed to be infuriated at their failure??
However, it didn\'t take long before Marina herself answered their doubts.
"I hoped you could succeed," she began with a tired expression. "But if my daughter was anything like I was when I was younger, then she had surely gone after a man who was beyond exceptional."
Her eyes gazed off into the distance before she continued, "And it turned out that my fears had come to fruition"
"What do you mean, My Lady?" Sapphire asked with a puzzled look on her face.
Had their Queen expected them to fail from the very beginning? Then what was the point of them even being sent out?
"..." Azure had similar thoughts to her sister as she waited for an explanation.
"Ha" Marina sighed a little before she looked at the two confused maids and said, "I\'m sorry, Azure and Sapphire, but I had used you two as a test for the boy."
She announced such information with a slightly apologetic tone as she scrutinized the changes in expression on their faces.
Marina expected them to hate her for using them as guinea pigs, but completely against her expectations, they thought over the events that happened after they got their mission before they replied, "We understand, My Queen."
"???" Now Marina was the one who was confused.
She had most definitely clarified that they were used as test dummies, and they were smart enough to figure out the hidden meaning behind her words, so why did they respond like everything was okay?
Marina was confident in their loyalty, but if anyone knew the two girls best, then she did. And something was definitely not right!
Her cold eyes gleaned into their souls, attempting to understand the truth; however, she couldn\'t discern a single thing even after a few seconds of trying.
So, instead of forcefully extracting the information she wanted to know, her inquisitive tone reverberated out as she asked, "What happened after you met this \'Azmond\'?"
"..." "..."
Azure and Sapphire knew that they had been caught red-handed by their perceptive Queen, and they knew they couldn\'t lie to her, so they went on to tell her the entire truth of what happened after they left for the mission.
-
"So what you\'re telling me is that the boy not only slept with you, but he also had a young, pretty catkin girl following him around?"
Marina\'s voice came out in a tone colder than the North Pole, as her expression was anything but pretty.
In the beginning, she had wanted to use Azure and Sapphire to gauge whether the boy was capable of protecting her daughter from the FireGod Empire.
But after learning of this \'information\', she changed her mind.
"I think I\'ll go on a little trip to meet this playbody who had stolen my daughter\'s heart only to play around with it like puddy," she said with a tone laced with enormous amounts of killing intent.
RUMBLE!!
An immensely regal, cyan-colored aura exploded outward from Marina as the entire castle and even the surrounding areas were completely enveloped!
FWIP!
Following such an eruption of energy, she had disappeared from her throne as she blurred toward the south of the Kingdom of AquaRing.
Azure and Sapphire got up from their kneeling positions as they realized something.
"We screwed up, didn\'t we?" Azure muttered.
Sapphire looked to where the Queen once sat before she mumbled, "Yes... Yes we did."
The both of them could only hope that Azmond could make it through the calamity that was speeding his way in one piece.
*****
In a far-off location at the very top of the twentieth floor of the Luminous Grounds, three figures were seen walking atop a vast barren desert. And above those three figures, there was a large black sphere that hovered in place.
The land they walked on was blood-colored and stretched on for millions of miles in every direction; however, there was nothing but the lifeless ruby-like sand that surrounded them on all sides.
"Azmond?" Calista murmured as she tugged on his long, flowing white robes.
"Hmm?" Azmond looked down at the girl, who looked no older than 14 years old, as he responded, "Yes?"
"Are we almost done walking through this place?" She asked with her misty gray eyes staring up at him.
It seemed like Calista had gotten tired of walking around aimlessly on the Twentieth Floor, and her lethargy made sense, considering that they had already been on the Twentieth Floor for over three weeks.
Three weeks of nothing but each other and the arid landscape that filled up the entirety of the Twentieth Floor. That was what they had to work with as they traversed through millions of miles of dry, red desert.
Azmond had the ability to move at lightspeed after reaching the Mid-Rank Quantum Nascent Soul Realm a few days ago through the assistance of his Primordial Yin Impripts; however, in actuality, he couldn\'t move anywhere near that speed with Calista and the black sphere tagging along with him.
He thought about ditching the ball and putting all the Monster Queen\'s, the gazellekin, and Spiritflame inside his storage ring while he traveled to the end of the Twentieth Floor. But he scratched that idea when he thought about how little he knew of his storage ring.
There were, of course, the women that he had \'collected\' from the Goblin encampments over a year ago; however, they were either mortals or far weaker than the Monster Queen\'s, so he didn\'t want to risk them dying due to some unknown security measure in the storage ring.
And he couldn\'t exactly test out whether they would die without killing one of them, so in the end, he opted for taking a slower trip toward the Extreme North of the Twentieth Step.
Such a plan was going quite good until a certain catkin girl got tired of seeing the same lifeless scenery all day long...
