Chapter 139: Evolution?

There was nothing Ark could do to stop it, and he could only watch as a large stream of mana flowed into the bodies of Atar and Ephine.

As the mana entered their bodies, the burning light only grew stronger and stronger. But a change occurred. The light switched colour. From the original white light, it became blue, then red, then black, and it kept switching colours. At first, Ark was confused, until he realised the colours were the same colours that corresponded to his elements. When he saw that, he got an idea of what was happening.

He had no idea what the meaning behind giving someone a name was in this world, but so far, it seemed like it was something extraordinary.

From what he could see so far, it looked like giving someone a name would give them some of your power. This was something that Ark was actually pretty happy about, as it seemed like they would be a step closer in the future. Ark had always wanted a family, or something that he could call a family, and if nothing went wrong, then he might actually get just what he was looking for.

He was skeptical in the beginning, but after thinking about it, he was beginning to grow hopeful. He really hoped that nothing would go wrong, and that they would be able to inherit some of his power. If they did, then he wouldn\'t need to protect them in the future if he ever disappeared, not that he was planning on doing something like that.

Nonetheless, it was a really good thing if they became more powerful.

After some time passed, the numerous different colours started to intertwine with each other, and blend together. Vortexes of dazzling colours formed above the, no longer just sucking in the mana from Ark, but also from the surroundings.

Ark didn\'t want any other magical beasts to interfere with this phenomenon, so he used what mana he had left to create a large barrier to keep any magical beasts or humans away.

Even though he didn\'t know it himself, Ark had undoubtedly saved all of their lives in doing so, as magical beasts from all over the forest were beginning to gather around them. But none of them were able to get past the barrier, as Ark had spent a lot of time and mana to make is as strong as absolutely possible.

Some magical beasts certainly had the strength to contend with the barrier, but they were too vigilant to do such a thing. What if the barrier was just something this magical beast had done casually? Then they would certainly be doomed if they tried to do something shady.

Not only that, but they would expose themselves to a counterattack if they were the first to attack the barrier, and no magical beast really knew what was going on anyway, they could only feel weirdly compelled to find out what was going on, it was almost as they were drawn to whatever was going on inside the barrier.

As Ark watched the vortexes growing bigger and bigger, devouring everything in their way, he was beginning to grow tired. His heavy use of mana was making him a little dizzy, and he felt like he needed to desperately sleep. The thing was, he didn\'t feel comfortable just falling asleep without knowing what was going to happen to them.

Therefore he just walked away a little, and rested a little against a tree.

His rest was certainly needed, as just resting five minutes was enough for him to get a little clearheaded. Which was something that he would desperately need, as the vortexes that had been growing steadily for all this time, were beginning to shrink down again. As they did, the energy they gathered started to accumulate inside of Atar\'s and Ephine\'s bodies.

At this point, Ark wasn\'t even able to see them anymore, as they were completely submerged inside of the blinding light.

The vortexes suddenly shrunk down to an infinitely small size, before disappearing in the blink of an eye. The enormous amount of energy flooded Atar\'s and Ephine\'s bodies, surprising Ark a little in the process. Even though he believed in them, he wasn\'t sure if their bodies would be able to handle such a large influx of energy, without any real preparation.

In reality, their bodies had actually already been prepared to handle the energy, which was the burning white light\'s job.

Of course, Ark had no idea about this, and he was thus worried for nothing. Minutes later, the white light started to slowly dim down. It took almost 5 entire minutes for the light to dim down enough for Ark to be able to focus on it intently. As he did, the light slowly disappeared, only to reveal two lone figures. Before he could rejoice that they were alive, Ark was shocked beyond belief.

What he saw was not the bodies of two wolves as he had expected. On the ground in front of him, laid two humans. Neither of them had any clothes on, but Ark was able to quickly realise who they were. He wasn\'t entirely sure how this had happened, but he guessed that it was because of his ability to turn into a human that they had turned out like this.

He wasn\'t able to watch them closely though, as they didn\'t have any clothes on, and he was feeling really awkward.

He had no idea how he was supposed to react to the situation, before he noticed that they were beginning to wake up. Since there was nothing else to do, Ark just waited a little. Surely enough, they both woke up seconds later, and they sat up. Or at least they tried to, they had no idea how they were supposed to control their newfound bodies, and both of them kind of just flopped over.

Ark wanted to help them, but it was suddenly like they both seemed to realise something, and they just sat up. After inspecting their bodies a little, they both turned their heads to look at Ark.

Ark still had a hard time looking at them, but as he saw Ephine\'s eyes, he lost all concentration. All he was able to see were those mesmerising eyes, nothing else seemed to matter. Even if her body was different, her eyes stayed the same, and Ark still loved them like crazy.
