Chapter 898 Without Resistance

Chapter 898  Without Resistance

Gripping onto their weapons as tightly as they could, all of them kept an eye on the young man, all waiting for the right moment to strike.

Seeing how the attitudes of the orcs had immediately changed in response to his action, Valyr had a faint smile on his face as he reduced the size of the water surrounding his head.

Closing his eyes for a bit, he then dispelled the Water-based spell entirely, feeling that the headache tormenting him had subsided to a level where he could somewhat tolerate it.

"Alright." Conjuring an orb of Azure Energy just in case, Valyr cleared his throat, catching the attention of all the orcs looking at him. "I have no idea who sent you here to patrol this place, but what I do know is that you\'ve come here to kill me."

"Now, humor me for a bit." Tossing the orb of Azure Energy back and forth between his hands, the young man looked at the orcs, flaring out a bit of his aura in the process. "Did you kill the four that came before me?"

At those words, the orcs looked at each other before talking in murmurs, their language sounding like a mix of both gibberish and grunting to the young man.

Fortunately, after the orcs had talked for a bit, one of them stepped forward in front of Valyr before speaking in an aggressive tone. "Why should we tell you that, you puny human?!"

Hearing that, Valyr merely smiled. "You didn\'t have to."

Of course, that caught the orc slightly off guard, not understanding the young man\'s thought process.

Then again…

There was no reason to.

"In any case, thanks for letting me know who among you could speak the language."

Saying those words, the young man continued to adorn a smile as he flared his aura in its entirety, leaving many of the orcs frozen in place as they shuddered in fear.

Though, to those that were less affected by the aura, those orcs immediately charged towards Valyr, hoping to land an attack on him before he could on them.

But of course, the young man wasn\'t going to let that happen.

"[Refined Mana Barrier]."

Just as the orcs were only a couple of meters away from the young man, an azure barrier had appeared to separate the two groups, making some of the orcs bounce back as the barrier reflected their momentum.

Now understanding what they were truly up against, the other orcs finally snapped out of their previous states and helped the orcs that made a move first in breaking the barrier.

"Graah!"

"Ngah!"

Letting out grunts in frustration, the orcs struck against the barrier with all their strength.

While that was happening, Valyr continued to amass more and more Azure Energy on his hands, activating an all-around buff on himself in the process.

"[Limit Break: Second Verse]."

Sensing the aura from the human immediately ascending to a higher level of strength, the orcs began to strike the barrier with greater fervor, with some of them having even decided to escape before catastrophe struck.

"It\'s too late, either way," said Valyr to himself as he looked at the escaping orcs, flinging the orb of Azure Energy he\'d amassed up to the skies.

"[Four Paths Azure Magic Arts]."

"[Azure Phoenix\'s Lament]."

Screech!!!

Within seconds, a massive cloud of energy appeared before Valyr and the orcs as it let out a screech that caused most of the orcs to freeze in place.

Just as the orcs understood then and there that they had no chance of even fighting Valyr, the cloud began to rain down small azure phoenixes onto the orcs, transforming the area surrounding the stone structure into a field of azure flames.

At that moment, the orcs had instantly lost all will to fight against the young man, instead choosing to escape from the hell that had appeared before them with their lives intact.

Unfortunately, even though they were able to deflect the azure phoenixes that were raining down on them, more azure phoenixes continued to rain from the cloud, leaving them no choice but to flee as fast as they could.

In the end, a few of the orcs were successful in leaving the hellish field Valyr had created, though they suffered injuries that would\'ve been more than enough to kill a normal human on Earth.

However, most of the orcs had become of victims of the azure phoenix\'s wrath, succumbing either to the bombardment of azure phoenixes from the cloud up above, or the field of azure flames that scorched below.

"I think I\'ve done more than enough to catch the attention of the others." Satisfied with the performance of his newly obtained skills on the actual battlefield, Valyr soon dispelled everything that had to do with [Azure Phoenix\'s Lament].

With the area more or less returning to the state it was before, the young man then began to manipulate a bit of energy, prompting a large cocoon containing an orc stricken with fear to appear before him.

Continuing to control the cocoon, he then removed part of the cocoon that covered the orc\'s head, allowing the orc to freely speak.

"Why… did you this?" To no surprise, a bombardment of questions immediately left the orc\'s mouth. "What… have we even done to you?"

"You\'ve done nothing to me," replied Valyr as he shook his head, the expression on his face slowly becoming serious. "But you might have done something to those that came before me."

"We… did not." The orc frantically shook his head. "The four that came before you were able to return safely… the first two that came out even wiped out half of our patrol squad…"

"Is that so?" Hearing those words, Valyr inwardly smiled in response, glad for the fact that both Faulus and Loreina were able to fend for themselves, a stark contrast to how they were at the beginning of their journey.

"Yes…" Seeing as the young man went silent after that, the orc nodded as he mustered up the courage to continue asking. "If I might ask, why did you spare me? Why did you kill all of them? They haven\'t even done anything to you yet?"

Hearing those questions, Valyr looked at the orc directly in the eye, causing the latter to feel a slight chill throughout his body. "What\'s your name?"

"Z… Zaurog," the orc responded, the fear that he\'d pushed to the side just earlier returning with greater force.

"Zaurog… I\'m sure you know the situation we\'re in," said Valyr. "We\'re in a war. I\'m sure you know why I spared you. I\'m also sure you know why I killed them when I had the chance to."

"Now… say if I weren\'t as strong as I am right now, if I was weaker than the four that left before me…"

"Do you really think you lot wouldn\'t have killed me?"

"…" Listening to those words, Zaurog fell silent, the spark previously in his eyes now having lost their light.

Sensing the slight resistance the orc was still putting up now crumbling down to pieces, the young man scratched the back of his head for a bit in response, not knowing what to do.

Mulling over the current situation for a bit, the young man took a look around the area, wondering if the ruckus he\'d caused was enough to attract the attention of other humans.

Seeing that there were none after looking around for a bit, Valyr glanced at Zaurog for a bit before coming to a decision.

"You\'re coming with me."

"Huh?" Unsurprisingly, Zaurog looked at the man in confusion, expecting not long ago that he would be slain now that he\'d served his purpose. "But… why?"

Though he heard the orc\'s question, Valyr did not respond to it whatsoever.

"[Azure Dragon Movement Arts]."

"[Flight of the Azure Dragon]."

Instead, he began to soar through the skies, dragging Zaurog along with him.Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn
