Chapter 58: The Royal Corpse Reappears
Although the rift leading to the Land of the Dead had shrunk slightly, the currt monsters had a regular combat strgth of mid-tier second rank.
This level of power was already standard within The Mysterious Space, making it a struous task for the few second-tier Overlords to handle.
It was an unavoidable situation...
Charles understood this situation, so he didn\'t blame them too harshly.
The issue with the Land of the Dead was a global concern, so as long as they were willing to fight for it, Charles wouldn\'t hold a grudge.
Finally, he looked at the last node, where Eve was stationed.
Her situation was better than Medusa\'s, albeit slightly, but overall she had completely suppressed the monsters emerging from her node.
Yes, well done.
Now, only one node remained.
Charles pondered for a momt, th took out all the Zerg units from the trading cter and placed them here. He th used the portal to transport himself to the node guarded by the group.
The world spun a him, and Charles almost lost his lunch.
Say what you will, but he still couldn\'t fully avoid the discomfort of traveling through space. Each time he used this thing, he had to take a deep breath.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sound of countless explosions interrupted his thoughts. Not far ahead, he saw the Overlord group locked in a fierce battle with the monsters.
Hmm, they were certainly putting in the effort.
"Brothers, charge! Only by killing all these monsters can we avoid a fate where we all perish together!" Flandre roared as he directed the battle.
"We have to trust Boss Number One. He\'s already working on clearing the rifts at the various nodes. I\'m sure it won\'t be long before we get reinforcemts!"
The group responded with a chorus of agreemt, clearly placing their faith in Flandre.
A Flandre were the Overlords and minions with higher combat strgth. These were the first ones to arrive here, earning the respect of everyone prest.
But where there is couragemt, there is also disparagemt.
"Hmph, what Boss Number One? If it wer\'t for us holding the line here, what would he be doing?"
"Yeah, and I ev suspect this is all a conspiracy by Boss Number One. How could there be six such terrifying nodes? I think he just wants to exhaust our minions to reap the befits!"
"Damn, what a sinister plot. Why don\'t we take out those lackeys first and th each make our escape?"
"Good idea, let\'s take out those bastards! Each of them only has a Tier advanced minion, and they think they\'re so great!"
In just a few words, a plot to murder Flandre and his group was decided upon, the efficicy of which was absurd.
Charles\'s expression gradually darked. It seemed the coalition from last time hadn\'t be completely eradicated, otherwise, how could there still be these barking dogs?
He didn\'t waste any words. With the Overlord\'s Spear in hand, he would just kill them all!
Seeing the Overlords who were about to attack his subordinates, Charles swiftly hurled his spear.
With the sound of piercing flesh, everyone watched in horror as the lethal weapon continued to take down their comrades, filling them with dread.
Fortunately, the spear seemed to have some sort of recognition system, sparing the innoct.
Flandre, who was in the front lines, quickly noticed the commotion at the rear. Seeing his comrades being slaughtered, he turned back in a fury, ready to confront this strange weapon.
But the more he looked at the spear, the more familiar it seemed, until he finally recognized its owner.
"Boss?" Flandre stared in a daze at the returning Charles. Wasn\'t that the Overlord\'s Spear, dlessly circling in the air, his boss\'s weapon?
Hearing Flandre\'s exclamations, the brothers fighting on the front lines couldn\'t help but turn their heads.
It really was the boss!
These scattered high-tier Overlords had all be personally supported by Charles. It wouldn\'t be an exaggeration to say he had saved their lives.
This led to a dire situation where the monsters at the front, still being obstructed, bared their claws. They aimed to tear apart the annoying humans who kept thwarting their revge!
"Hey, don\'t get distracted just because I\'m here. Keep your heads in the game, or you might lose them..." Charles said with a cheerful smile, while the black domain at his feet rapidly spread, covering the tire node.
Before the high-tier Overlords could ev welcome him, the black domain came to life, erupting with countless grotesque figures—Zerg troops summoned by the Thousand Insects Devouring Heart formation.
These troops swarmed the nearly evolved monsters, each insect bite consuming their very souls!
But that wasn\'t all. Poisonous dragons and sky-darking serptine heads rampaged mercilessly through the monster horde.
It was the same process as before, just with a few more spectators this time.
" Oh my god! this is insane! Is this the power of our Sere Forest\'s Number One Overlord?
"I can\'t fathom what those idiots were thinking, daring to provoke someone this powerful!"
"Exactly! And to think, Boss Number One was kind ough to leave his own node to come help us. And how do they repay him? By insulting him the momt he arrives. If it were me, I would\'ve..."
As Charles demonstrated his might, the tide swiftly turned. All the Overlords\' admiration shifted to him, casting blame on those Charles had just killed.
After all, they had nothing to do with those foolish troublemakers, right?
Charles ignored their chatter, focusing solely on controlling the battle.
These monsters had already ingested the blood of living Overlords, resulting in numerous fused undead creatures and a lingering presce of death ergy.
If this death ergy stayed in the world too long, it would surely invite disaster!
So, in addition to completely annihilating the already-evolved undead creatures, he also needed to find a way to purify the area saturated with death ergy.
He thought for a while and ultimately decided to consult Rose.
After all, Charles knew that purifying death ergy would at least require a divine spell of light.
Such high-tier divine scrolls were not easy to obtain, and he certainly couldn\'t just walk into the Temple of Light to ask for one.
There is no other reason, he simply can\'t get over it.
But Rose was differt. Being a member of the Succubus race, her kin were spread all over the Contint of Overlord. It wouldn\'t be difficult for her to acquire a scroll of universal light.
Ev if she was an Abyssal Succubus.
Just as he was forming this plan, a terrifying beast\'s roar echoed from within.
Listing closely, the sound felt oddly familiar!
The Overlords were all startled. Flandre turned pale as he stared at the faint silver rift, ssing something terrifying slowly approaching.
"Boss, be careful! The owner of that roar gives me the same oppressive feeling as you!" Flandre, being a cat-person, had excellt hearing.
Of course, the most crucial factor was his special talt related to hearing, allowing him to roughly gauge an oppont\'s strgth.
This talt had abled Flandre to stand out among the others, becoming the most favored high-tier Overlord under Charles, second only to Eve.
Hearing Flandre\'s words, Charles smiled. The roar really was too familiar...
Soon, the owner of the roar crossed the boundary. Its obese figure and eerie smile revealed it to be other than the Royal Corpse that had decimated the royal court in The Mysterious Space!
How did it get out?
Charles\'s pupils contracted slightly, his mind filled with shock.
He wasn\'t intimidated by its strgth, he was stunned that it could ter the Contint of Overlord through the rift in the Land of the Dead.
Could it be... that the mysterious space was actually located within the Land of the Dead all along?
The terrifying suspicion made Charles\'s face grow grave. If giv the chance, he must thoroughly cleanse that place!
Before he could think further, the fat giant\'s Hammer of the Dead came crashing down.
It seemed to have a vdetta against Charles, specifically targeting him. Fortunately, Charles possessed the Overlord Wings, hanced with blood wings, allowing him to easily dodge the massive hammer.
"No, don\'t!"
"Damn it, Number One! You\'ve brought this monstrosity here, you bastard!"
As the Hammer of the Dead descded, the Overlords who had stayed behind to watch and didn\'t escape in time only had a momt to utter their final words before being swiftly crushed.
In the sky, Charles\'s face remained indiffert. His swarm formation was still sweeping the area, and he couldn\'t divert it to deal with the fat giant just yet.
Moreover...
Remembering the creature\'s thick skin gave him a headache. Damn it, ev after unleashing several powerful attacks last time, he couldn\'t break through its defse!
Watching the fat giant\'s rampant behavior, Charles saw it dare to eat the living right in front of him!
The screams of those people successfully disrupted Charles\'s thoughts, and he felt a surge of irritation at such acts.
"Think, think again,.. there must be a way..." Charles pondered, his gaze slowly shifting to the rift of the Land of the Dead.
Charles had never be to the Land of the Dead in his previous life, so he didn\'t know if this fat bastard, once st back, would come back through the rift again.
But... he had a plan. How could he rest without trying it?
Time to act!
With a fierce resolve in his eyes, Charles summoned the Overlord Spear once more, now streaked with red.
