Vol. 7 - Chapter 385 - Pamela’s time - the debut of super-rare weapon!

<Meowrrior> was known to drop both the blade and the armament so if it had been a <Gold Chest>, it would have been a significant boost to either Rika or Pamela\'s combat abilities. Having not a way to fight field bosses repeatedly was a really a frustrating, Though, it wasn\'t like I was without any means.

Afterwards, we activated the 10th floor teleportation circle and registered everyone, unlocking the direct shortcut to here for everyone.

While there were no shortcuts to the deepest boss room in the dungeon, there were shortcuts to the Field Boss. I have made my mind, when we have time later, we will hunt down <Meowrrior> and continue to do so until it drops enough <Gold Chest> to fully upgrade Rika and Pamela. They would be a force to reckon then, ahahaha!

Bosses residing in the deepest floor were easy to grind, but dropping from the final shortcut to the 10th floor was a time-consuming journey.

Field bosses, on the other hand, reside near the teleportation point so it was just a matter of cleaning them in jiffy and returning back. It was quite handy for quick hunts during players free time. These are field bosses for you.

In the game, all of my free time basically revolved around hunting them. <Meowrrior> was one of my most frequent bosses. After all, sword was one of the weapon categories that rarely drops in the <Dungeon Activity> so <Meowrrior> was the popular choice for it.

Moving forward, from floor 11th to 20th, we would be facing two cat-type monsters at the same time. No, to be more precise, one can say it was one after another, wasn\'t it?

To give a general idea, a cat would appear when you\'re walking down the path and while you\'re busy dealing with that cat, another cat would appear—yes, reinforcement.

That was quite challenging in fact and by chance if they ambushed from behind, it could lead to healers unable to fight and subsequently pushing the party at the edge of being wiped out. And since the paths in this dungeon were one-way routes through the forest instead of plains where players could move freely in any direction, this means no chance of escaping.

However, I have prepared countermeasures for such a situation. We had the two teams to counter it.

"Leave the <Wild Meow> to us. Come here kitty, <Taunt>!"

"We will handle the support! <Blessing of the Guardian Dog>!"

"Alright. Take care of that side! ------We, the Team A, will handle <Chamisen> here!"

"Lulu understands! and here comes Lulu\'s <Rolling Sword>!"

As predicted, <Wilde Meow> showed itself from the behind just as we were fighting <Chamisen>. But I had already taken it into account.

Sierra behind used taunt skill to attract its target toward herself. This way, each time now had one opponent to take down. It was basically the setup as we were acting on the upper floors.

After the battle was concluded, I held a meeting with Sierra.

"The monsters of Intermediate-mid dungeons are really formidable. It\'s surprising that monsters will use such a tactic."

"Well, Int-low was like a buffer period for those who have just come out of the beginners dungeon with some parts resembling them as well. However Intermediate-mid dungeon is where you will see that you can no longer beat down the opponent so easily. Though <Cat-Dun> is one of the difficult among other Int-mid."

"I see. That explains the significant shift in difficulty. So the two teams are because of the same reason?"

"Yeah. It\'s possible to clear it with one party, but the usual safe choice is to challenge <Cat-Dun> with two parties. You have already seen how strong these monsters here are."

"I see. By the way, weren\'t there a lot of upperclassmen on the first floor? I am surprised we didn\'t run through them on deeper floors."

"First floor is a zoo---maybe it would be better to call it a cat\'s garden, huh? Well either way, even upperclassmen should be finding it hard to deal with two opponents from the 11th floor."

It was the same situation as <Jurapa>. Though <Cat-Dun> was famous for different reason, it was one of the unpopular dungeon when it comes to exploration.

What were those upperclassmen doing on the first floor? If you asked them, they might say something like, "We came for relaxation!" Well, maybe <Dungeon Activity> like that had its own appeal.

Just as I was thinking so while discussing with Sierra, Karua soundlessly appeared next to me.

"Zephyr, I have something to report."

"Eeek! Why are you sneaking around for god\'s sake, you startled me. What is it? What\'s the matter?"

"I discovered a monster with golden light."

"What are we waiting for then, we are going right away."

The report was about a rare monster. Hurray! I swiftly replied to Karua and quietly, but quickly, headed towards the location.

The other team members also went silent for a moment and followed Karua after lowering their voices. They communicated in a hushed voice.

"Oh, Karua."

"Hn, everyone is here."

On the side note, when I asked about it later, apparently, the one to discover a rare monster was Lana, again! Did she come with an automatic rare monster detector or what!? No, I really began to suspect that might be the case.

"Monster is there."

"Ohhh, it\'s really <Golden Meowr-Meowr>."

Near the end of the curved road, where Lana pointed out, was a cat with ock-patterned fur radiating golden light from its body. It was undoubtedly the rare cat monster <Golden Meowr-Meowr>.

I must secure it at any cost! Fortunately, the path wasn\'t a straight one. Because of the curve, we were out of its sight and it had yet to notice us as well.

Other girls from the group sent me eager glances saying \'we also want to see it\' so for now, I had them look at it in turn while I held a strategy meeting.

"What do we do?"

"We are going to hunt it, of course."

I nodded firmly to Sierra\'s question. After all, choosing any other option would be going against divine providence!

"I am not asking that. I mean, how are we going to defeat it?"

Ah, sorry Sierra. It was foolish of me to doubt you. Well, of course. I should have expected so. The only question in this scenario would be how are we going to take it down.

On the way, some even seemed to be clamoring, "It\'s too cute to hunt."

"Shall I do it, Zephyr?"

"Ah, you shouldn\'t do it, Hannah."

Hannah approached with <Canon: Spear> in her hand. Unfortunately, she was bound by the restriction of bracelet. I am happy just with your feeling.

But, rest assured. I have a way to handle this. In fact, this was just the perfect chance to try that.

"Pamela, Karua. Come here."

"I?"

"Hn?"

I called out to Karua and Pamela in a hushed voice. This time, the key was Pamela. I wanted her to succeed no matter what.

I explained my plan to Pamela, who found it odd that I was calling out to her in this situation, and Karua, who was brimming with enthusiasm.

"What do you think? Can you guys pull it?"

"I won\'t know until I try, but I\'ll give it my all-desu."

"Hn. Can do. Will give it my all."

After conveying the plan, Pamela made a troubled expression. Well, it\'s her first attempt, so I could understand her apprehension.

In fact, if it was taking down the monster, Karua alone could have done it with high efficiency. Her unique skill was just that fast. However I was entrusting the role of landing the finishing blow to Pamela. That was because of the ability of a certain weapon she had equipped. Even if the success rate dropped, it was worth having Pamela deliver the finishing blow. Well, this might buff the status of <Golden Meowr-Meowr> since both of them were in different teams, but I still want Pamela to deal with it.

"Relax. I know both of you can do it, Trust me."

"Understood-desu!"

"Hn. Will do my best."

"Why do I feel like Zephyr-kun is just following his desire rather faithfully......"

I encouraged both Karua and Pamela and sent them forward. I think Hannah just said something, but I must be just that excited. Yeah, it should be..

All the members backed down and opened the path for Pamela and Karua to step forward. Both of them gazed at their target from the blind angle of curve.

"It\'s still there-desu."

"Hn. It\'s basking in the sun. What a life."

"Please pay attention, can you?"

"But sunbathing is also a double-edged sword. The moment it rolled over will be its game over."

"Ohh. I didn\'t get what you mean but I understand-desu. I will leave the timing to you-desu!"

"Hn. Let\'s go!"

"Huh, already-desu?"

"Unique skill <Number One Sonic Star>!"

As we watched over them, Karua activated her unique skill and disappears from that place almost instantly. It was as if they teleported from their place. Even when I tried to trace the shadow of Karua, it looked as if there was only one beginning point and one endpoint, and no in-between.

When using this skill, she could carry at least one person with herself. This time, this person happened to be Pamela.

The instant <Golden Meowr-Meowr> rolled over and showed its back to us, Karua\'s eyes shone as she used unique. In an instant, they appeared behind the <Golden Meowr-Meow>, their timing and the position flawless.

<Golden Meowr-Meow> also noticed them as it showed a flustered appearance, however its fate had already been sealed.

"Forfeit your life-desu! <Splitter>-desu!"

"Grg-nya!?"

Pamela released her <Tri-Tree> skill which stuck directly at <Golden Meowr-Meowr>. The HP of rare monsters were so low that even if they get a buff, their HP would still be worth nothing.

Unsurprisingly, its HP bar dropped to zero as it submerged into the pool of golden particles. And what was left behind was \'two\' drops.

Pamela\'s weapon was the drop from the rare boss in the Extra Dungeon we had challenged before, <Food and Livestock Dungeon> — the <Demolition Sword>.

Its ability was to \'double the amount of loot drops from normal animal category monsters\'. And rare monsters also fell under the category of regular monsters.
