“But, Saleen, I possess the power of a priest and I can already help, can’t I?” Sika did not understand why Saleen had to make her another set of armor. She had enough room for improvement as a warrior priest. At the very least, she would not fall too far behind before Saleen became a grade-9 sorcerer.
“You have to dedicate your life for the power of a priest, Sika. I want you to live, not to sacrifice yourself in battle.”
“A priest will increase their life expectancy too. It doesn’t mean anything to sacrifice ourselves a few times.” Sika forced a smile. Caucasian priests were decreasing in number, because when they fought in a battle, it was inevitable that they had to sacrifice their vitality. She had not known that Saleen would know that.
Saleen did not explain things to Sika in detail. The higher grade he became, the more profoundly he understood the soul. Especially when he had obtained ownership over the winged skeleton, a death creature, the information that he had obtained from the winged skeleton made him scared.
It was not that the soul would not die; otherwise, the death dimension would not have had so many wars. The Caucasians actually believed in a primitive religion, but because there was no god, the priests had to sacrifice themselves to bring power upon their clansmen. In the long run, not only did the priests have shorter lives, but they would completely disappear after their deaths too.
According to the sayings of the Caucasians, the priests would be back to the embrace of the earth, but how could Saleen let Sika finish things that way?
As for god’s left hand, even if it had been a trap left behind by the Myers Goddess, he would have jumped in.
The Myers Goddess was the god of the current dimension but her spiritual fire had been extinguished. Unless there was assistance from a power stronger than her, only the Myers Goddess would be able to reignite the spiritual fire, but there was not any deity who could do so. On the dimension of the Myers Mainland, gods were utterly denied entry. The Myers Goddess could be considered completely dead, with no chance of resurrection.
That was a complicated matter. Saleen did not know what his left hand would bring forth, but at least he could keep Sika alive instead of having her constantly sacrificing herself.
“It’s up to you.” Sika flipped over and faced her back towards Saleen.
Saleen flipped Sika around and looked her in the eyes. “I know I can’t make you go against Caucasus tradition. Since you are not willing to marry me, you have to accept my present.”
Saleen then took off the Ring of Gifts from his finger and put it on Sika.
“Wait until you have obtained slight divinity. Then you will be able to use this ring.”
“This ring, you’re willing to give it to me?” Sika knew what the Ring of Gifts was. It was something the Myers Goddess had left behind. It was mostly likely a semi-godly item, or even a godly item.
“Why would I find it hard to? When I first met you, I just wanted to abduct a stupid Caucasian. Sigh, back then…”
Sika smiled when she heard Saleen talking about the past. She said, “I thought you were amazing. I did not know that you were being chased after so disastrously. The village chief told me that a mage is the presence of power. Look at you, when have you ever been powerful?”
“I will be in the future,” Saleen replied confidently.
Saleen’s achievements could be attributed to the luck brought about by the Ring of Gifts. The ring had been won when he gambled with Baron Minghui, and he had not spent a single penny. But the ring had changed Saleen’s fate entirely.
If not for the Ring of Gifts, it would have been impossible for Saleen to own spatial equipment when he was merely a grade-1 mage. It would have beenimpossible for him to enter the ruins of the Myers Goddess’ temple, and he would not have gotten Nailisi. His harvest after that could not be forgotten either. Without those items, Saleen would not have known Aini, and he would not have known his future direction.
Saleen had given Sika the Ring of Gifts as a gift, and Sika did not say anything. Even with her character, she nearly cried. Mages never spoke verbally of love or gods, but they would exhibit things through their actions. Saleen gave his most important item to me. At least I didn’t pick the wrong guy.
With Saleen’s assistance, Sika started learning the holy prose on the Ring of Gifts and signed a contract with Saleen. The contract was actually just a connecting contract, but it was very important. If there had not been absolute trust between the two of them, they would not have signed that contract. The contract meant that Saleen and Sika had both added eternal coordinates to themselves. No matter how far apart they were, they would be able to find each other.
Saleen’s left hand would be able to provide Sika with the power required to cast spells.
The borrowing of power was not restricted by distance, but their current grades were not enough for them to disregard the problem of distance. However, at least within the range of a few hundred miles, Saleen did not need to worry about the problem. When he reached the level of a grade-9 sorcerer, as long as Sika did not leave the dimension, the contract would be able to provide them with accurate coordinates.
Of course, the coordinates were dangerous too. If Sika were to be captured and the person who held her captive was a mage that was grade-5 or above, he would be able to find Saleen through the coordinates. It was very dangerous for Saleen because the people from Holy See would find a way to kill him. Once that happened, Saleen would not be able to escape even if he wanted to. The Holy See would only need to send a high priest who was on the level of a deacon and Saleen would be revealed.
After signing the contract, Saleen then told Sika the problem. “So, don’t stay too far away from me and don’t get captured by our enemies. Otherwise, I’ll be in big trouble.”
“Even if you were to marry Lex, you’d still want me to follow you?” Sika asked playfully.
“I’m not marrying her.”
“Don’t be so sure. I won’t marry anyone but I won’t control who you marry. After you marry Lex, you can receive the management rights to a kingdom with a big army.”
“I am a mage,” Saleen replied solemnly. Sika was not willing to marry him and that left him helpless. But he understood that tradition and beliefs were equally important to Caucasians.
“A mage, so what? No one specified that mages had to be single.”
“Okay, I’m not going to talk to you about that. Stand up and let me measure your body.” Saleen did not want to continue that topic since it made him upset. Lex liked him, but not to the point of marriage. Since everyone knew that marrying Lex meant owning half of the prefecture, Lex’s marriage was not just a personal matter.
There was no use. No matter how nicely Lex treated Saleen, the upper house and the king would stop anything between them. Lex, of course, could opt to ignore them, but that would make her lose the kingdom’s support entirely.
Lex might not have cared, but what about the people around her? There were thousands of people following Lex and she had to consider them too.
There was nothing certain between Lex and Saleen. Sika bringing it up only upset Saleen further.
Sika stood up and her athletic body glowed gently under the magic light. Saleen had no time to appreciate the sight but started scanning her with his mental strength to note down her measurements for the armor.
When the Myers Goddess was still alive, although the temple did not have many high priests, there were many temple warriors. According to the standards of the Holy See, the Goddess of Nature’s temple was too backwards and had no control over its believers. The Myers Goddess’ code did not restrain her believers. The high priests did not spread religious teachings, but mostly treated human diseases and shared knowledge.
The temple warriors held a special status. They were fanatic believers of the goddess. They admired the goddess, received the goddess’ blessings, and owned the armor given by the Goddess of Nature.
The armor was passed down but the attributes on the armor had disappeared after the goddess passed. So, it could only be displayed in a collection since the practical value had diminished.
However, Saleen had the leaf from the Tree of Life which contained divinity left behind by the goddess, and that could be used to activate the goddess’ divinity. With the assistance of the divinity, the armor would regain vitality and become more outstanding than any other magic armor.
The armor of the goddess was not only strong because of its defenses, but it also contained a self-mending ability. The speed of its self-mending was impressive. The armor itself was nearly indestructible, and it also healed the warrior.
Saleen did not have any ready-made armor, but he had blueprints. The blueprints had not been worth anything but now came in handy.
Saleen took out the tiago’s veins and started making a bra for Sika. As the armor of the goddess was not a fully enclosed suit of metal armor, besides the bra, there would only be some leather armor and bone armor which were affected by divinity. Then, it would be a complete set of nature armor.
Saleen made Sika’s bra using the demon suit as a model. The contractions of dragon veins were similar to the performance of the demon suit in that they would not affect combat if worn. The firmness of the dragon veins would be able to resist arrows better than dragon skin. A suitable dragon vein could only be obtained from an adult dragon. That was why there was no soft leather armor that was made of dragon vein on the mainland. Even if there was, it would be difficult to find someone suitable to make it.
Water flame alchemy was not a common skill. It was considered the esoteric lore of the mages on Sregl Island.
Every detail of Sika’s body was flowing in Saleen’s mind. His demon suit had actually been remade so that it suited his body. With his experience, Saleen did not waste too much time making Sika’s bra. The blue water flames were burning as tall as a human, with Saleen throwing in materials that could only be found on specific types of dragon. Magic runes were flowing rapidly in the water flames. Saleen did not add a divinity spell but added in some magic for Sika.
The Chunlin spell, a level-4 water magic in the healing category.
Adding this magic reduced the magic chords that Saleen had nearly recovered. If Saleen had not controlled the three kings, he would not have dared to use them so extravagantly. Luckily, the Chunlin spell was a level-4 spell so Saleen would only need three months’ time to fully recover his magic chords.
After three months, Saleen would return to the city base just in time. On the ship, Saleen did not think that he would face any major danger.
Then, Saleen started making the soft leather section. This section required more complicated materials. The most crucial part was the belt. Saleen took six dimension stones and threw them into the water flames.
