Chapter 598 - Game On!
Chapter 598: Game On!

As the chaotic battle in the Purge Tower neared its final stage, some among the remaining players (about ten of them) finally approached the Frost Coffin at the center of the tower while others were still weighing their options.
“Sigh, we have come to this point somehow.” Qin Ruo was a little upset. However, he willingly cast away the Frost Coffin covering him and exposed himself to the final twelve survivors inside the tower. The remainders were no weaklings, so the mysterious Frost Coffin would do little to deter them. To continue blocking their line of sight would just infuriate them further and made himself an appealing target for others to be poked at.
He took a glance and confirmed the identity of the few final contenders—three Elementalists, four Warriors, two Summoners, and two Shadow Priests. Qin Ruo hastily made up battle tactics in his mind for each of the remaining twelve contestants.
That’s right. Twelve contestants.
Although other players inside the tower might have thought that they were only facing eleven opponents, Qin Ruo had never forgotten the Tier 5 Bandit who disappeared straight away as soon as the battle ensued.
Bowmaster was the first Class that was being swept out from the tower.
It was due to the coordinated efforts of the players and NPCs that this battlefield had become a favorable territory for the Bandit to thrive in—Without the eliminated Bowmaster, none of the remaining Classes had the ability to detect the Tier 5 Bandit’s whereabouts with their naked eyes.
“If that is so...”
Qin Ruo slanted his Enchanted Frost Witch’s Rage and detonated all of his six Frost Ramparts at the same time.
Zing! Zing! Ziing!
Six blasts of ice flakes materialized at both of Qin Ruo’s flanks simultaneously. This made the Electromancer halt to a standstill. He was apparently stunned by Qin Ruo’s abrupt, unexplainable movement.
Others were equally shocked too.
They wondered who the mysterious Aquamancer was targeting? There was no one within thirty meters around him.
‘For show?’
‘Trying to display dominance?’
‘Too bored so try to waste some MP?’
This was when a shriek trembled the entire Purge Tower and that refuted their guesses.
Bloop!
Bloop!
The floor vibrated slightly as a chubby white bear paced heavily out from the Frostburst area and entered their vision. This brought on a chilling sensation into the already tensed atmosphere inside the tower.
All twelve players inside the tower couldn’t help but to roll their eyes.
‘Why all the fuss just for summoning a Pet?’ They thought of the Aquamancer’s broadway-styled Frost Coffin a while ago and immediately linked him to one word after seeing another imposing action of his—Affectation.
Not only that...
Just as the Electromancer mocked the pretentious effort and decided to continue his march, the nearly six meter tall Frost Bear made a move that had almost everyone inside the tower flinching.
The seemingly fat and dumb giant bear first walked out leisurely from the Frostburst, then suddenly turned around and held its back against the Electromancer. It slapped its fat paw on its unattractive butt to taunt the approaching Elementalist.
The Electromancer was speechless.
Prince Noodle, meanwhile, could literally feel his face twitching. ‘This fat chunk of meat has some sense of humor!’
Everyone else had no words for what they had just seen too.
***
The Electromancer, Lightning Chen, actually relaxed instead of feeling insulted by the giant Frost Bear’s taunting action.
To be honest, the long-standing Frost Coffin placed by the Aquamancer at the middle of the tower since the very beginning of the contest had brought him an invisible dark heavy bout of pressure.
After all, Lightning Chen had sheer confidence over his own capabilities.
Even with his status as a renowned Field Commander, he only dared slide to the edge of the arena at the beginning and slowly eliminate his opponents with his back secured by the solid wall. He would never imitate the Aquamancer’s actions but chose the center of the arena so boldly to begin this contest. From his perspective, it was no different from suicide as the center was where one would face the most enemies and face the highest risks.
However, to his disbelief, the Aquamancer had survived the enormous threat and lasted until this point.
None of the six Frost Ramparts had been removed from him, not even one.
This alone was solid enough to deter him from making contact with the caster of the six Frost Ramparts. At least on the surface, he could tell a few of the opponent’s traits.
Firstly, his confidence!
Secondly, he was super rich! (Maintaining six Frost Ramparts at the same time was equivalent to casting a Tier 3 or Tier 4 Spell continuously for 10 minutes. This would definitely be not sustainable by any random player with limited MP or supply)
Finally, he was a Tier 5 player (detected through Elemental Perception).
These three telling characteristics were enough to sufficiently overwhelm most of the Tier 4 and ordinary Tier 5 contestants, rendering them useless in making any moves against the Frost Coffin.
As time passed, the weak ones were gradually disqualified while those who lasted were the ones that had shown above average battle abilities.
This was when the Electromancer had gathered enough courage to test the player that was hidden inside the coffin and attempted to break the deadlock.
The appearance of the Frost Bear though, had greatly boosted his confidence.
He thought to himself, ‘What a short-tempered guy. I have just entered your perception zone and you already can’t wait to summon your Pet...’
If the Aquamancer was more patient and called out the Pet only when they had started fighting, it might have worked wonders to disrupt his battle rhythm. But since he exposed his Pet so blatantly...
‘Humph. Prepare to lose!’
Lightning Chen made a long laugh and no longer hesitated. He hastily flanked the Frost Bear with his Pet, a Two-Headed Horned Python.
‘He walked right into my trap.’
Qin Ruo smiled satisfyingly.
As soon as the Electromancer made his move, the Frost Bear also charged forward under Qin Ruo’s order.
Under normal circumstances, the Level 54 Frost Bear might not have been a formidable opponent in the face of a Tier 5 Electromancer. But in this Purge Tower where all players damage were halved, the tanky Tier 5 Bear would be extremely tough to beat.
Wham! Wham! Wham Wham!
With all four of its claws on the ground, the giant bear exerted its limbs and marched on with incredible pace. It charged confidently and quickly shortened its distance from the Electromancer to under thirty meters.
Suddenly, a stroke of purple lightning tore the sky apart!
Crackle!!!
A giant pillar of electricity fell abruptly from the sky. The spell directly hit the dashing Frost Bear and paralyzed it. At the same time, the ten-meter-long giant python of the Electromancer suddenly burst into speed.
The serpent twitched in a serpentine form and slithered in rapidly. A majestic magical surge suddenly exploded from within the python.
Blood-red flames splattered and sprayed from the python and soon the blazing flares consumed everything within thirty-meter radius, including the Frost Bear and Qin Ruo.
Tier 5 AoE Spell—Raging Blaze.
The heatwaves had also momentarily taken away all forms of Elemental Perception within the tower.
“Eh?” Two others Elementalists bellowed a questioning exclamation after their perceptions were interrupted by the thundering spelling. The Tier 5 Water-Type AoE Spell Frozen Realm did not manifest as they had expected...
‘The mysterious Aquamancer did not try to rob away the Electromancer’s Elemental Perception! But why?’
Others who were observing the fight also had the same question.
‘Maybe the guy is not Tier 5 after all. But that does not make any sense!’
The Aquamancer had sealed himself up inside the Frost Coffin from the very beginning. This clearly indicated that he owned the perception ability. Otherwise, he would not have barred his own vision in such a dangerous situation.
But no veteran Elementalist would allow his opponent to maintain good visibility in this type of tight battle either.
‘Is the guy stupid or what? Why the simple mistake in such a dire moment?’
Just as everyone was thinking whether the Aquamancer was faking his predicament to lure the Electromancer in, the Raging Blaze that ravaged the battlefield dissipated quickly and disclosed the situation within it to the eyes of the concerned bystanders.
The Aquamancer was tightly entangled by the Twin-Headed Horned Python. The split heads of the python hissed ferociously and kept gorging on its target’s Barrier with its red crystalline horns.
The Electromancer, meanwhile, was standing within twenty meters to the Aquamancer. One after another of Electric-Type Spells were landed on his prey’s collapsing Defensive Barrier at a high frequency.
Every player inside the tower could feel how dreadful the Aquamancer’s situation was, being trapped by the Horned Python.
This was one of the killing techniques Lightning Chen had in hand.
The Two-Headed Horned Python’s skill—Bind.
This was especially effective against an Elementalist. Blinding could completely block off the enemy’s vision. Combine it with a Tier 5 AoE Attacking Spell and it will leave the trapped opponent with only two feasible choices—Either defeat the Horned Python first or attack the Electromancer with a ranged AoE Spell.
But, of course, the damage from an AoE spell was not much of a threat against an Elementalist in this Purge Tower.
So the only way the Aquamancer could get out from this predicament was to quickly take down the Horned Python before his Barrier shattered.
Unfortunately, it was easier said than done to kill a Horned Python with at least 4000 HP. It would be almost impossible to escape the entanglement in time under the combined attack by the Horned Python and the Electromancer.
Besides, the Horned Python was highly resistant against Water-Type Spells, meaning that it could last longer while trapping the Aquamancer.
The Aquamancer would be finished soon. This was the conclusion made by almost everyone inside the tower bar one, Qin Ruo.
None of them would have ever guessed that Qin Ruo had actually already grasped most of their and their Pets’ abilities as he was observing them closely in silence for more than ten minutes. Of course, this did not include the mysterious Bandit who hadn’t yet shown up.
Hence, Qin Ruo was more than ready to take on the python’s assault.
He had seen the same tactic a while ago and was expecting it.
‘This is not going to hold me back. Humph!’
Qin Ruo snorted. ‘So what if this is an Advanced Monster that is resistant against Water-Type Spells? It changes nothing. Enjoy my appetizer.’
He recited the spell in his mind and soon, a powerful magical fluctuation ascended rapidly within the python’s entanglement. A Divinity-like, diamond-shaped ice core manifested on Qin Ruo’s palm. He grasped on it and made no delay in piercing it into the body of the Horned Python.
