Chapter 436: 435 Take her away
On the bed, Wen Ran’s lips curved slightly in sleep, her serene face as pure and lovely as a baby’s. Mo Xiuchen gazed at her, solidly for a while, placed the clothes on the bedside, and returned to the dressing room.
Five minutes later, Mo Xiuchen emerged from the dressing room again, carrying a large suitcase filled with his and Wen Ran’s clothes.
He put the suitcase on the floor in front of the bed, seated himself on the edge of the bed, lifted the covers, and carefully dressed Wen Ran while she slept in his arms.
Wen Ran was exhausted and was sleeping deeply.
Mo Xiuchen called out to her twice. She didn’t wake up.
A smile tugged at his lips, “Ranran, when you wake up, you’ll find the surprise I have for you.”
A phone on the bedside table suddenly began to vibrate. The color of his eyes shifted slightly as he balanced Wen Ran in one arm and picked up the phone with the other hand to answer the call.
“Hello!”
“Mo General, Wu Tianyi and Xiao Wenqing have escaped.”
Over the phone, Lu Zhiyan’s voice came through, somberly, “He’s always slick. He may have sensed something amiss from Tong Shishi’s words. According to local law enforcement, the scene was empty by the time they arrived.”
The last time, Wu Tianyi and Xiao Wenqing left City B and hid in a nearby city.
Tonight, Tong Shishi called Wu Tianyi, they talked for a few minutes. He was the first to hang up the phone. Although what she said didn’t seem problematic, she was somewhat nervous.
Wu Tianyi would certainly flee at the first sign of danger.
“Are there no clues at all?”
“…I’ve requested that the superior departments issue an arrest warrant for Wu Tianyi and Xiao Wenqing… Guards have been stationed at road entrances, train stations, and airports. We hope to catch them as soon as possible.”
Lu Zhiyan’s voice, mingling with the wind and the chill of winter night, came vibrantly into Mo Xiuchen’s ear. His calm gaze now was filled with layers of storms. This outcome was within his expectations.
Tong Shishi had called Wu Tianyi at noon, and called again at night. Considering Wu Tianyi’s sharp mind and his suspicions, even if he hadn’t noticed it, he would have asked his subordinates left in G City.
When the local police rushed over, it required time, which they could take advantage of to escape.
But now, Wu Tianyi and Xiao Wenqing have become wanted criminals. They’ll either have to flee the country or hide for the rest of their lives, never daring to show their faces.
Having ended the call with Lu Zhiyan, Mo Xiuchen pursed his lips, after dressing Wen Ran, he made another phone call, then lifted her from the bed and carried her downstairs.
Nanny Zhang followed him out with the suitcase and Qing Yang and Qing Feng were already waiting by the car.
“Young master!”
Little Liu stood next to Qing Yang, watching Mo Xiuchen approach with Wen Ran in his arms. His feelings were mixed.
“You don’t have to go to the airport. Go and rest.”
Mo Xiuchen told him, then, bending down, he carried Wen Ran into the car with an extraordinarily gentle and slow motion, fearing that any carelessness would wake her up.
Little Liu wanted to say something. He opened his mouth, but seeing Mo Xiuchen close the car door, he swallowed his words.
Qing Yang glanced at Little Liu, opened the door to the driver’s seat, and got in.
“Go and rest.”
Qing Feng patted Little Liu’s shoulder, watching him get into the front passenger seat, and the business car slowly pulled out of the villa, driving in the direction of the airport.
“There’s still plenty of time, no need to rush.”
In the spacious leather seats of the back row, Mo Xiuchen cradled Wen Ran in his arms, covering her with a thin blanket. Snuggling in his arms seemed more comfortable than lying on the bed. Wen Ran furrowed her brows a bit, gently shifted her position, and found a more comfortable sleeping posture.
Mo Xiuchen patted her on the back, murmuring tenderly: “Ranran, sleep.” Then he looked up and instructed Qing Yang, who was driving in front.
“Okay!”
Qing Yang responded, slightly reducing the speed of the car. Looking in the rearview mirror, he saw Mo Xiuchen looking tenderly at the woman in his arms. The warm scene seemed too serene to disturb.
Mo Xiuchen gazed at Wen Ran in his arms with a focused and tender gaze. Looking at her peaceful and beautiful face, the emotions churning in his heart began to settle.
Earlier, when he heard that Tong Shishi had told Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi about Ran Ran’s background, his first thought was to take Ran Ran away from G City.
Given his understanding of Xiao Wenqing through the years, by early tomorrow morning, Ran Ran’s origins and various rumors would definitely emerge in various forms.
If they stay in G City, he won’t be able to keep the news from Ran Ran, so the only solution is to take her away for the time being.
Upon leaving Tong Shishi’s house, he immediately called Luo Haofeng, Gu Kai, and Wen Jin to tell them that he was going on a vacation abroad with Ran Ran.
At first, Luo Haofeng objected and grumbled. But when he mentioned the reason, Luo Haofeng firmly pledged, that as soon as the scandal broke out, he will suppress it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
As for the company, Mo Xiuchen took advantage of his absence to let Mo Zixuan and Luo Haofeng take over together. This was also a way for him to familiarize himself with the group, so it wouldn’t seem too sudden when he would propose this to the board after he returned.
The reason for letting Luo Haofeng and Mo Zixuan manage together was that Mo Zixuan is not yet capable of making central decisions for the entire group. His current focus should be on the press conference. The other matters needed Luo Haofeng’s help.
The phone in his pocket vibrated again. Mo Xiuchen held Wen Ran with one hand and took out his cellphone with the other. The incoming call was still from Lu Zhiyan.
“Mo General, we’ve found the direction in which Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi have fled. I am currently leading a team to track them. I’ll notify you as soon as there’s another update.”
Over the phone, the sound of wind and car engines could be heard. Lu Zhiyan was on the road tracking Xiao Wenqing and Wu Tianyi.
Mo Xiuchen casually responded, “Okay.” He paused for a moment before adding: “Be careful. With Wu Tianyi now a fugitive, he might resort to desperate measures.”
“Don’t worry, Mo General, I understand.”
There were of course sufficient reasons for the police to put out an arrest warrant for Wu Tianyi. Lu Zhiyan also wouldn’t have been careless enough to overlook the possibility that Wu Tianyi might have a firearm. He proceeded with caution.
After finishing the call, Mo Xiuchen looked at his phone for a moment before dialing another number. He wasn’t sleepy at all right now. Talking to someone and spending some time wouldn’t be so bad.
The phone rang several times before being picked up by a drowsy voice, “Hello!”
