Chapter 220: I understand, young master.
Chapter 220: I understand, young master.
In a suburban villa, MO Xiuchen and Wen Ran sat together on a couch in the living room, while Qin Mu sat alone on another couch, his arms casually spread out. Little Liu sat nervously across from MO Xiuchen and Wen Ran.
Nanny Zhang brought in coffee and water, respectively setting the drinks in front of Qin Mu, MO Xiuchen, and Wen Ran.
“Young Master, here’s what Cheng Jia told me, all of it’s here.”
Little Liu pulled out his phone, respectfully handed it over to MO Xiuchen, surprise flashing in Qin Mu’s eyes, he clearly didn’t expect Little Liu to be smart enough to record their conversation.
“I was afraid that I would misinterpret Cheng Jia’s words or fail to completely understand her, so I directly recorded her. Young Master, Madam, please listen. ”
MO Xiuchen slightly curled his lips in satisfaction. “Not a bad idea,” he said. “Cheng Jia is calculated and knows how to seduce men. Being naive as you, you could easily fall into her trap.”
“From now on, as long as it’s something that I should know, you can use this method.”
Qin Mu chuckled, picked up his cup of coffee, and asked, “Little Liu, do you understand what the Young Master means by ‘something that I should know’?”
Although Little Liu was somewhat simple , he understood the hidden meaning in MO Xiuchen’s tone and the teasing in Qin Mu’s words. His face turned slightly red. “I understand, Young Master. I won’t do anything to betray you.”
“Pfft!”
Qin Mu spit out his coffee.
Wen Ran couldn’t help laughing. MO Xiuchen glared at Qin Mu distastefully,
“Clean it up yourself.”
“I’ll clean it up, Young Master. It’s not Qin’s fault. Little Liu is just clumsy with his words and inadvertently caused misunderstanding. ”
Nanny Zhang, who was a few steps away, immediately came over.
Little Liu’s words truly led to misunderstandings, especially considering his tone, as if he and MO Xiuchen were involved and that sleeping with Cheng Jia would be a betrayal to him.
Qin Mu elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth with a tissue; MO Xiuchen started playing the recording on Little Liu’s phone. “Get yourself a voice recorder in the future. It’s more convenient than using a phone. Your recording
can be interrupted if you receive a call in the middle of it.”
‘Yes!”
Little Liu felt embarrassed after the misunderstanding earlier and hardly dared to speak again.
As the recording started, the first voice that came out was Cheng Jia’s, “You’re here. Come in.”
“Say whatever you need to say right here.”
Little Liu’s voice was hard, showing no emotion. He might have had a relationship with Cheng Jia, but there was no trace of sentiment in his tone. Possibly, he already knew her true intentions.
“Why are we talking at the doorstep? You’ve been inside my house before, what are you afraid of now?”
Cheng Jia spoke rather irritatedly, then turned and entered the house. There was silence for a minute, only the sound of footsteps and water pouring could be heard. “The water is not poisoned, you can drink it.”
“Didn’t you say that you have something to tell the Young Master? What is it?”
Instead of drinking the water, Little Liu looked directly at Cheng Jia. He took the Young Master’s advice to heart—Cheng Jia was cunning, and he was naive; the best way to deal with her was to be indifferent, avoid her tricks.
“In fact, it’s not about Young Master MO directly, but about Wen Ran. I believe
Young Master MO would want to know.”
“What is it?”
“The accident that orphaned Wen Ran, it was Zhou Mingfu’s doing.”
“Do you have evidence?”
“I don’t, I overheard it. Zhou Lin and Zhou Mingfu’s father-daughter conversation. He confessed to murdering Wen Ran’s parents. He knew Wen Ran and Wen Jin would seek revenge. The kidnapping in F City was also his doing. He feared that Wen Jin would confront him after the hospital discharge, so he intended to destroy Wen Ran and thus kill Wen Jin as well!”
Cheng Jia spoke slowly, her tone containing a hint of contempt and resentment. It seemed regrettable to her that Zhou Mingfu failed to ruin Wen Ran, who till date remained unharmed and by MO Xiuchen’s side.
Wen Ran’s complexion subtly changed.
MO Xiuchen promptly held her hand, passing on the warmth from his palm. Wen Ran looked up to meet his piercing gaze, bit her lip, and suppressed her emotions.
“Why didn’t you say earlier if you knew all about it?”
Little Liu’s voice carried a hint of doubt and anger.
Now that Zhou Mingfu was dead, it was as if her revelation served no purpose.
“How could I have informed her when I despised Wen Ran so much? I wished Wen Ran and Wen Jin never knew who their parents’ murderer was.”
“Why tell us now?
“Now?”
Cheng Jia gave a self-deprecating laugh. Resignedly, she answered, “Now I’m cornered. Xiao Wenqing believes I’ve betrayed her, and Young Master MO doesn’t trust me either. I’ve to show my ‘sincerity’. The news may not be directly related to MO Xiuchen, but I believe he’d be more interested in matters involving Wen Ran than in his own matter.”
Cheng Jia’s last statement was indeed correct. Qin Mu resembled a smirking face as he glanced at Xiuchen. MO Xiuchen looked cold, his eyes unfathomable; his inner thoughts remained a mystery. Wen Ran also had no emotion on her face, but her mind was filled with doubt. She wasn’t sure whether to believe Cheng Jia’s words.
After the recording, MO Xiuchen returned the phone to Little Liu. Qin Mu casually said, “Even if Cheng Jia’s words are true, they seem too conveniently advantageous for her.”
MO Xiuchen spared him a glance and said coldly, “Whether her words are true or false, one thing is sure. Zhou Mingfu is undoubtedly involved in those incidents. However, whether he acted alone needs further investigation.” Little Liu earnestly asked, “Young Master, is Cheng Jia still lying? Didn’t she say that telling you all this was a sign of her sincerity?”
If Cheng Jia was still lying, that would be too awful.
“She did tell us, but she’s concealing something.”
Wen Ran continued, the crisp and cold tone of her voice reflecting the chill of the season, “It’s strange that she didn’t mention this earlier, but only after Zhou Mingfu’s death confirming that Zhou Mingfu was the instigator. It raises suspicion, did she intend to shift all the blame onto Zhou Mingfu?”
“If that’s true, she must still be in contact with people outside.”
Qin Mu nodded in agreement.
Cheng Jia’s attempt to take advantage of MO Xiuchen had failed instead and he even made her admit her liking towards Little Liu in front of the media. She couldn’t possibly accept this outcome.
She had cooperated with Xiao Wenqing for so many years; the two of them couldn’t possibly sever their relationship so easily.
“Little Liu, go ahead and do what you need to do. You don’t need to worry about Cheng Jia, she’ll contact me by herself.”
There was a hint of chill in MO Xiuchen’s eyes. Cheng Jia intended to please both sides.
Even worse, she was still thinking about stirring a new storm; he was going to sit back and see just how capable she was..
