Chapter 88 - 88: 088 They punished me by making me drink three cups
Xiao Wenqing stared at the medicine bottle in Wu Tianyi’s hand, her face slightly changing in surprise.
Wu Tianyi squinted and stared at her for a moment before laughing out loud. However, the laughter sounded eerie to the listener.
He twirled the medicine bottle in his hand and said calmly, “This is a poison that can kill untraceably and without detection. Just add one pill to MO
Jingteng’s water every day, and in less than three months, he will…”
Wu Tianyi made a gesture, and Xiao Wenqing turned pale with fear. “That’s not good, killing someone demands a life in return,” she said.
“Wenqing, it’s amusing that you say this. It’s not like you haven’t killed before.”
Wu Tianyi’s sudden change in tone left Xiao Wenqing speechless, her head lowered and refusing to meet his gaze.
“Wenqing, you’re not reluctant to hurt MO Jingteng, are you? Don’t tell me you’ve actually fallen in love with him over the years?
Wu Tianyi grabbed Xiao Wenqing’s chin and forced her to look him in the eyes.
Facing his menacing stare, Xiao Wenqing shook her head repeatedly, “No, no, how could I fall in love with him? When I seduced MO Jingteng and stayed by his side, it was all for you. Wu Tianyi, you are the only one I love.”
“Yet, you bore him a son.”
Wu Tianyi said through gritted teeth, the thick loathing in his eyes piercing as he looked at her. His greatest miscalculation in life was allowing the woman he loved to carry another man’s child.
In his fury, he tightened his grip unconsciously, and Xiao Wenqing winced in pain, crying, “Tianyi, it hurts!”
Wu Tianyi let go of her and walked away from the bed to gaze up at the night sky by the window.
After touching her bruised chin, Xiao Wenqing put on her sleeping gown, left the bed, and went to comfort Wu Tianyi, “Tianyi, that was an accident. If it wasn’t for complications during Zixuan’s birth, we could have also had our own child. It’s all Jiang Hui’s fault.”
Jiang Hui caused her to lose the chance to become a mother again, and for that, Xiao Wenqing made her pay with her life. But what stung the most was that she failed to get rid of Jiang Hui’s son.
Wen Ran did not expect MO Xiuchen to return home so early.
She had just returned home from the hospital and was in the middle of a phone call with Bai Xiaoxiao after taking a shower, when she heard footsteps in the hallway. She said ‘goodbye’ to Bai Xiaoxiao and hung up, jumped out of bed and quickly went to the door.
As she opened the door, she found MO Xiuchen standing straight and tall, raising his hand to grab the doorknob a second too late.
“You’re back so soon!”
Their eyes met as Wen Ran greeted him with a bright smile in her chipper tone.
MO Xiuchen squinted at her enchanting eyes, and casually asked, “What’s making you so happy?
“Huh?”
His question left Wen Ran startled. Realizing she might have been overly enthusiastic, she blushed and touched her nose, saying,
“No, nothing in particular. I’m just surprised you’re back so early. I thought you would come back in the middle of the night like you did the last two nights. Did you drink a lot tonight?”
The strong smell of alcohol filled her nostrils, causing Wen Ran to step aside a bit and her brows to furrow slightly.
The previous night, he had also been drinking, but not as much. Tonight, the smell of alcohol was even stronger.
MO Xiuchen nodded, stepped into the room and explained, “I had to leave early, so they made me drink three glasses as punishment. But that’s fine, I can handle it.”
“You left early? Is that allowed?”
Surprised, Wen Ran followed MO Xiuchen into the bedroom.
After handing over his coat to her, MO Xiuchen loosened his tie, unbuttoned the top button of his shirt, and undid the buttons on his sleeves. “My father is still there, and so is Ah Mu. It’s okay if I left early. The dinner is almost over, and they will move on to the next event soon.”
Such social gatherings were never limited to simply eating.
“Did you eat anything? Do you want me to make you something to eat?”
Although he didn’t say outright that he came back early because of her, Wen Ran felt that his early return was definitely because of the phone call she made in the afternoon. A warm feeling stirred in her heart as she looked at him with concern.
The gaze of MO Xiuchen flickered, and he said lightly, “I haven’t eaten much, Nanny Zhang is preparing a meal for me, I will go take a shower first. Could you find my pajamas for me?”
“Okay!”
Wen Ran quickly agreed without hesitation. After hanging his coat, she headed to the dressing area. Watching her slender figure, a warm smile curled at the corner of MO Xiuchen’s mouth as he headed into the bathroom to shower.
After delivering the pajamas to the bathroom, Wen Ran didn’t idle around. Instead, she went downstairs to see if Nanny Zhang had finished cooking.
“Nanny Zhang, let me carry that!”
As Wen Ran entered the kitchen, Nanny Zhang had just finished cooking the noodles. Hearing Wen Ran’s voice, Nanny Zhang turned to smile at her, “Young mistress, let me do it, don’t scald yourself.”
Wen Ran shook her head, walked over to the colored glaze counter, and took the bowl from Nanny Zhang. As Nanny Zhang let go of the bowl, she couldn’t help but admonish, “Young mistress, be careful, don’t scald yourself.”
“Rest assured, I won’t.”
Wen Ran carried the bowl of noodles back to the master bedroom just as MO Xiuchen was coming out of the bathroom. She set the noodles down on the coffee table in front of the couch and called out cheerfully, “MO Xiuchen, you came out just in time, the noodles that Nanny Zhang cooked smell so good.”
MO Xiuchen stood a few steps away, his gaze lingering on her with deep affection. The light from the chandelier illuminating her creamy skin, and her beaming and alluring expression filled the room with enchantment.
His alluring lips unconsciously rose slightly, ever since she moved in, the oppressing silence in the room had been replaced with warmth ripples in the air.
“Are they really that delicious? It’s just a bowl of noodles.”
There was an unknown pampering look in MO Xiuchen’s eyes as he strode to the couch and elegantly sat down, pulling her down next to him.
“Their taste is indeed fantastic. Even my brother has praised Nanny Zhang’s cooking before.”
Wen Ran moved the bowl of noodles forward, nudging herself slightly to the side.
“I heard you had dinner at the hospital.”
MO Xiuchen looked at her and picked up the chopsticks to have his meal.
“Yeah, did Little Liu tell you that? Nanny Zhang prepared a lot of food for my brother, and he couldn’t finish it all. So, I accompanied him and had dinner at the hospital while discussing some things.”
“Oh, what was that thing you mentioned in your afternoon phone call?” MO Xiuchen swallowed the noodles in his mouth, his tone shifting, and his gaze deepened as he looked at her.
Caught off guard, Wen Ran blinked, “There’s something, but let’s talk about it later after you finish your meal.”
“You can tell me now, and I will listen while eating.”
His calm tone left no room for refusal, quite the domineering command in MO
Xiuchen’s words..
