Chapter 78 - 78: 078 will check it clearly
On Monday morning, on their way to the pharmaceutical factory, MO Xiuchen informed Wen Ran that he had sent Qin Mu on a business trip, and that she would be responsible for managing the company for the next few days.
Wen Ran paused slightly, laughed indifferently and said, “Now that my brother is awake, he can help me whenever I don’t understand something, you don’t need to ask Assistant Qin to assist me anymore.”
MO Xiuchen fell silent for a moment before responding simply, “That’s good!”
Wen Ran purposely convened a factory-wide meeting to share the good news of her brother’s recovery. Most of the employees were uplifted and full of confidence about their future with the factory. However, Zhou Mingfu was seething with resentment.
A glint of viciousness flickered in his eyes as he stared at Wen Ran, solidifying a certain dark thought in his mind.
Wen Ran caught a glimpse of Zhou Mingfu’s gloomy face out of the corner of her eye. She snorted to herself before turning to Li Qian and saying:
“Sister Li, to celebrate my brother’s recovery, please prepare a red packet for each employee…”
Li Qian smiled and nodded, announcing the news to the audience through the microphone, which instantly triggered a burst of applause.

MO Xiuchen, leaning back in his high-back swivel chair, gazed indifferently at Cheng Jia, who was standing in front of his desk. “You have no idea what happened to you that night?” he asked.
Frowning in confusion, Cheng Jia blinked and replied softly, “I don’t know. I just remember feeling really hot and uncomfortable last night. Young Master MO, how could I have acted like that? I looked it up on Baidu and it seems like I might have been drugged?”
Moving to sit up straight, MO Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed sharply. Cheng Jia couldn’t bear his penetrating glare and consciously avoided his gaze. She lowered her head and whispered, “Young Master MO, it was my first time at your house, and to have encountered such an incident… I’m just thankful it was you who found me, otherwise I don’t dare to imagine the consequences…” The implication, of course, was that he owed her an explanation.
MO Xiuchen’s handsome face took on a frosty expression, and he said seriously, “Rest assured, I will get to the bottom of that incident and seek justice for you.”
Seeing him harden his face, Cheng Jia hurriedly explained, “Young Master MO, I’m not blaming you; under those circumstances, I appreciate that you threw me into cold water to lower my temperature rather than…employing other methods.’
MO Xiuchen’s attractive eyebrows creased slightly, and his cold demeanor softened a bit. He spoke lightly, “You saved my life; how could I let anything happen to you, especially when Liu was there to take advantage of your unconscious state?”
At this, Cheng Jia turned pale and her eyes widened. Meeting MO Xiuchen’s penetrating gaze, she swallowed back her words.
“You don’t look very well. You don’t have to work today; take a day off to recuperate. Have you fully recovered from your cold?”
MO Xiuchen did not wish to continue the discussion and indirectly showed her the door.
As he said this, Cheng Jia immediately feigned a headache, “Young Master MO, my head hurts so much, could you take me to the hospital?”
“Wait for me on the sofa.”
MO Xiuchen glanced at her and spoke calmly.
“Okay!”
Just as she joyfully thought MO Xiuchen was accompanying her to the hospital, he picked up the phone on his desk and dialed the security room. He then instructed the person on the other end, “Send someone to my office.”
Two minutes later, a young security guard knocked on the office door and respectfully greeted, “Young Master MO!”
MO Xiuchen’s eyes swept over Cheng Jia sitting on the sofa, and he commanded in a low voice, “Miss Cheng is unwell due to a cold. Please take her to the hospital and make sure she gets home safely afterwards.”
On the sofa, Cheng Jia’s face changed suddenly as she sprang up and asked, “Young Master MO, you’re not accompanying me?”
“I will be meeting an important client later.” MO Xiuchen explained simply, then looked towards the security guard. Understanding his intent, the guard walked over to Cheng Jia, who had turned pale, and asked, ‘Miss Cheng, can you walk, or do you need help?”
“No, I can walk.”
With a tight-lipped smile, Cheng Jia walked away in her three-inch heels.
At four in the afternoon, Li Qian came in with the documents. Her face was glowing with a bright smile as she excitedly announced,
“Ranran, I have some good news for you.”
“What is it?”
Surprised, Wen Ran looked up from the documents at Li Qian.
“I just heard that Zhou Mingfu had a car accident.”
Wen Ran’s clear eyes widened in shock, and she asked in disbelief, “I thought Zhou Mingfu went to see my brother in the hospital, how did he get into a car accident?”
With brisk steps, Li Qian moved to the desk and placed the documents onto it, she explained cheerfully, “Apparently, he got into an accident on his way back from the hospital. I heard he broke his leg. Ranran, why aren’t you happy? This is karma.”
“I’m not upset. How did you find out?”
With a slight smile, Wen Ran admitted that the word ‘accident’ reminded her of the incident not too long ago when she lost her parents.
“I heard it in the procurement department. He will call you soon.”
Zhao Chengnan from procurement was Zhou Mingfu’s man. It wasn’t unusual for him to know this first. As Li Qian finished speaking, Wen Ran’s cell phone started ringing. She pulled out her phone and indeed, the caller was Zhou Mingfu. “Hello!”
“Ranran, I just had a car accident. I need to take a leave of absence for some time.”
The voice on the phone, Zhou Mingfu’s, seemed to hold a touch of pain and lingering shock from the accident. It was different from his usual tone. Wen Ran feigned surprise and asked, “Uncle Zhou, how did you get into an accident? Where were you hurt? Is it serious?”
“It’s embarrassing—I crashed into a flower bed on the side of the road because of my carelessness. My right leg is broken and I need to rest for a while.
Ranran, please take care of the factory business for me.”
“Uncle Zhou, your health is what matters most. I will take care of the factory.
Don’t worry.”
“I was originally planning to accompany you to the medicine trade conference this Friday, but it looks like I won’t be able to make it. I’ll let Ah Lin accompany you instead.”
“Let’s decide that later.”
Wen Ran’s forehead creased slightly and she replied, half-heartedly. After comforting Zhou Mingfu for a bit, she hung up the phone.
“Ranran, what did Zhou Mingfu tell you?”
Seeing that Wen Ran’s face had paled slightly, Li Qian asked with concern. Wen Ran signed the document and said mildly, “Zhou Mingfu said he needed to
take some time Ott due to the accident. He can’t make it to the medicine trade conference on Friday and wants Zhou Lin to come with me.”
“Ranran, since he can’t make it, you mustn’t accept his proposal to have Zhou Lin come with you.”
Wen Ran’s brows furrowed slightly. She found something off and asked in confusion, “Why did Zhou Mingfu suddenly have a car accident and voluntarily request time off for recovery? Something feels off about this..”
