Chapter 670 - The Final Battle
Chapter 670: The Final Battle
“I’ll head to the capital right away.” Ling Chuxi thought of Mo Kongyuan’s situation, which was steadily worsening, and could not stay there any longer.
The second elder noticed Ling Chuxi’s exhaustion from traveling and wanted to ask her to rest for a while, but he understood how critical the situation was. Mo Kongyuan’s side was weakening, and now that Ling Chuxi had returned, she would undoubtedly be his greatest aid. The second elder could only sigh and relent: “Chuxi, you need to be very careful this time.”
“Yes.” Ling Chuxi nodded solemnly. If Mo Kongyuan hadn’t protected her, he would not have been injured so badly. Ling Chuxi felt distraught and enraged just thinking about Mo Kongyuan struggling with his existing injuries while that despicable Chu Fengyun dragged on the battle. She had to go to Mo Kongyuan’s side as soon as possible!
Soon after, the servants finished preparing the fastest horse and dry rations for Ling Chuxi.
“Old Su, I entrust the Ling family to you,” Ling Chuxi called out to Su Yizhi as she mounted her horse.
“Don’t worry, the Ling family is in good hands,” Su Yizhi replied honestly, his concerned gaze silently wishing her luck.
The sun was setting in the west as horse and rider took off, leaving only dust and the sound of hooves behind.
‘Mister Mo, you must hold on.’ Ling Chuxi gripped the reins on her horse tightly and silently prayed.
Under the golden rays of the setting sun, the contour of the capital appeared before her.
At the Iron Stone Fort that was three hundred miles away from Nan Xia capital, the sounds of battle rang out as corpses piled up like mountains. There was the thick, cloying stench of blood in the air.
Not far away was the most famous mountain peak outside Nan Xia Capital: Cloud Watching Peak. Atop the peak, Chu Fengyun stood with a hand behind his back, looking at the tragic scene before him.
No one could tell how many would lose their lives in this bloody battlefield, or just how many had already lost sons, husbands, and fathers. Nonetheless, Chu Fengyun’s expression remained cold and detached as he observed the corpses and the injured who were crying out in pain. He sneered in disgust, looking down on them as if they were brainless insects to be disposed of.
“Great Worshipper, do we take action?” An expert of Wu Feng Hall asked respectfully.
“Go, but don’t get entangled with the experts of the other party. You can attack all the ordinary citizens and soldiers.” Chu Fengyun waved his hand dismissively.
“Ordinary citizens and soldiers?” The expert faltered. To be a cultivator at the realm of Great Fulfilment, and yet kill ordinary citizens and soldiers who could not fight back against those with cultivation, was extremely shameful for them.
“That’s right. The aim is to draw Mo Kongyuan out of hiding, then wear him out with fighting. Once this battle ends, Nan Xia Country will be included in the map of our great Ding Lin Country,” Chu Fengyun murmured indifferently as a manic light shone in his eyes.
“Yes.” The man hesitated for a moment, but finally bowed in agreement. He understood Chu Fengyun’s meaning—drag the fighting out until Mo Kongyuan died. Although it was an unscrupulous and detestable method, he did not have the courage to go against Chu Fengyun.
“When all of you have taken turns exchanging blows with him, do help me invite him to a stand-off. Just tell him that I want to have a final battle with him at Cloud Watching Peak,” Chu Fengyun casually told the Wu Feng Hall expert. Chu Fengyun had delayed this long enough, and he could wait no longer. Mo Kongyuan’s injuries should be affecting him greatly by now, and seeing how things were going, he should be able kill off Mo Kongyuan soon.
