Chapter 120 - To Bully with One’s Might
Chapter 120: To Bully with One’s Might
Bao Qing Restaurant was the best restaurant in White Stone City. Ling Chuxi especially liked their sweet and sour fish and roasted duck. As it was the first day of school, Ling Chuxi used the occasion as an excuse to celebrate them all completing the first official day of their studies at White Stone Academy with a good meal. Ling Yichen found it funny and yet felt helpless to argue against it. What kind of reason was this? It wasn’t a proper one, it was simply an excuse to go out for a meal, that’s all.
Bao Qing Restaurant’s seating was divided into private rooms located upstairs and general seating on the ground floor. The rich and noble people usually sat upstairs. Since the fifth princess was with them, the waiter showed them to a private room on the upper floor. Under normal circumstances, Ling Chuxi didn’t like the fifth princess using her status to intimidate others. However, during such a time as this, one needed to be decisive as to when to utilize a “bullying people with one’s might” energy. This way, they would naturally get the best seats and such good food will be served to them as a priority.
“Master, master. Please have this duck thigh.” Once the roasted duck arrived, the fifth princess quickly picked up a duck thigh with her chopsticks and placed it in Ling Chuxi’s bowl. Then she flashed a brilliant smile with her pearly-white teeth showing.
The corners of Xia Zhuoyi ‘s lips twitched as he observed this situation unfold. The fifth princess was so obedient in front of Ling Chuxi. It was as though she was a little kitten. Seeing her fawn and flatter Ling Chuxi as such, which part of her resembled the rumored proud, unruly, arrogant and unreasonable image she had right now?
“Waiter! Go and check on why our sweet and sour fish hasn’t arrived yet!” commanded the fifth princess with a shout to the waiter by the door.
When the waiter heard the fifth princess yell at him as such, he shivered and his heart secretly wept. ‘Little one, you have just placed your order. You should go to the kitchen yourself to have a look at what is going on right now. The chefs are busy bustling around, preparing your dish at top speed because they are all worried your slight dissatisfaction will cause the whole kitchen to be ruined!’ Although the waiter wept in his heart, he still opened the door to go out and check in on the kitchen immediately.
The moment he opened the door, the waiter rushed out and almost collided with someone in the corridor. The waiter immediately lowered his head and bent over in apology.
But the other party didn’t seem to appreciate his efforts and began to scold him loudly. “Are you blind?! Don’t you know how to look where you walk?! Can you even afford to compensate me if you stain my clothes?!” screamed a shrill voice, full of anger.
Ling Chuxi continued eating her roasted duck calmly as she offhandedly listened to the drama going on outside in a busybody manner. The person the waiter had almost collided into was a young maiden who was dressed in luxurious garments. She looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years old and had a haughty look about her. A bunch of gold hairpins glittered on her head and a number of shining gold bracelets gleamed on her wrist. Such a display of opulence made it look as though the maiden was afraid others would not know she was rich.
Ling Chuxi kept eating quietly as she listened. Then, she glanced at the fifth princess. It was a meaningful glance. The fifth princess almost leapt out of her seat once she saw how Ling Chuxi was glancing over at her. It was impossible to misunderstand what her master meant with such a glance: ‘Look at this situation. Do you see how ugly you also look when you bully people with your might?’ The fifth princess immediately denied Ling Chuxi’s implication with a glare of her own. ‘How is this the same thing? The maiden outside was some typical hot-tempered person without any inner qualities.’ The fifth princess wasn’t like this at all in her own opinion. Ling Chuxi clocked the fifth princess’ defensiveness and swept another disdainful glance her way: ‘How is this not the same thing? The both of you use your might to bully others into submission unreasonably.’ The fifth princess responded with another defensive glare: ‘She isn’t on my level, all right? So, don’t compare me with this kind of person!’
Ling Yichen and Xia Zhuoyi calmly observed the pair of them, master and disciple glaring at each other over the table and communicating with just their eyes. Strangely enough, they could follow along with the wordless argument. Both Ling Yichen and Xia Zhuoyi’s gazes also shifted to stare at the arrogant and unruly young maiden outside their dining room door before shifting back to the fifth princess again. The two of them nodded their heads simultaneously by coincidence. Seeing this, the fifth princess almost jumped up to fight with them both.
