Chapter 138

Chapter 138

"Yes, Zhengzheng and I were also in an arranged marriage. Our feelings for each other have only been cultivated in the past few months."

"Wow!" Qi Ji exclaimed in disbelief. Zhengzheng was already two years old, and their feelings had only developed in the past few months.

"Surprised, isn't it? Actually, it was your Sister Shu Yi who opened my eyes, allowing me to face my own feelings. Let me tell you, I'm incredibly insensitive when it comes to emotions."

"Sister Shu Yi is amazing!"

"She's the most rational and clear-headed person. Tonight, when you see her, you can ask her for advice about your emotional issues."

"Okay, what shall we do next?"

"Zhengzheng is asleep, and I want to learn oil painting."

"Great, Sister Yin Yin. After seeing your embroidery works, I think you have an excellent foundation in painting, so learning oil painting should be easy for you."

Shen Yin led Qi Ji to a small storage room on the second floor. Inside was an easel, various oil paints, watercolors, acrylics, and ink.

"Sister Yin Yin, is your family planning to open a painting studio? These supplies are so comprehensive," Qi Ji exclaimed in surprise.

She had a limited perspective; she never imagined there would be so many painting supplies in one room.

These painting supplies were arranged by Xu Xiuhe himself, though she had not paid attention to this room before. Who would have thought there would be so many supplies—it seemed like a new shipment had arrived.

"Sister Yin Yin, let's start!"

Oil painting is neither easy nor difficult. Shen Yin had a foundation in painting, so she just needed to learn the techniques.

Qi Ji first found the paints, oil painting brushes, palette knives, palettes, mediums, canvas boards, and other necessary items from the pile of supplies.

"Goethe said, 'If you want to escape from this world, there is no more reliable way than art; if you want to connect with the world, there is also no more reliable way than art.' I used to want to escape, but since meeting you and Sister Shu Yi, I feel like I've changed a lot," Qi Ji said as she organized the painting tools.

"Throughout our lives, we encounter all kinds of people. They influence us—some make us stronger, some cause us to change, and some become lifelong regrets. You feel you've changed after meeting me and Shu Yi. What about after meeting Xue Jingrui?"

Qi Ji pondered for a moment. "After meeting Brother Jingrui, I also feel like I've changed."

"How did you change?"

"I've become lazier, which is not a good change," Qi Ji said with a serious expression.

"Qi Ji, did you know you're just a happy nut?" Shen Yin felt that Qi Ji could make her laugh with every sentence.

"If Sister Yin Yin feels happy being with me, then I'll come and keep you company often."

"Such a sweet talker."

"Sister, you must be familiar with composition, so I'll just introduce you to the tools used for sketching."

"Mmhmm, okay."

"Charcoal sticks, charcoal pencils, pastel and wax crayons, watercolors and acrylics."

Qi Ji then introduced some specific uses and steps for using the tools. Her content was very detailed and informative. Shen Yin listened attentively.

"For oil painting, color is the most crucial aspect. Through the development of oil painting, we can see that the beauty of color layers is constantly being explored and created. Transparent and opaque colors, the dark effects on the canvas—all have their techniques."

As Qi Ji spoke, she demonstrated various techniques like dabbing, kneading, brushing, and scraping for Shen Yin.

"So interesting," Shen Yin marveled. Indeed, it was a different style from Chinese painting, each with its own charms.

"You give it a try. Do you have any photos of Zhengzheng on your phone? We can start by painting Zhengzheng."

Shen Yin took out her phone and found a photo of Zhengzheng eating.

She began sketching...

With Shen Yin's existing painting foundation, her intelligence, and Qi Ji's guidance, she produced a delightful little portrait of Zhengzheng. The overall composition was aesthetically pleasing, to the point where it could be framed and sold as an artwork.

During the painting process, Qi Ji went upstairs from time to time to check on Zhengzheng in case he woke up and couldn't find them.

Later, when Zhengzheng woke up, Shen Yin started painting directly from him as the model.

"Sister Yin Yin, you're truly an all-rounder. This first oil painting you've done is better than those painted by people who have done it a dozen times."

"Mommy, this is Zhengzheng," Xu Yunzheng said, pointing at the painting.

"Yes, it's Zhengzheng," Shen Yin replied.

"Zhengzheng looks so handsome, and Mommy's painting is also beautiful," Xu Yunzheng complimented himself and Shen Yin.

Qi Ji smiled on the side.

Shen Yin sighed helplessly. He was already so narcissistic at such a young age, clearly inheriting the trait from Xu Xiuhe.

"Mommy, Zhengzheng is thirsty and hungry," Xu Yunzheng whined.

Shen Yin checked the time, and it was indeed late, past five o'clock.

"Okay, let's go out for dinner."

Shen Yin and Qi Ji took Xu Yunzheng and got in the car.

Qi Ji had already told Xue Jingrui in the afternoon that she would be having dinner with Sister Yin Yin and Sister Shu Yi in the evening.

Shen Yin had also informed Xu Xiuhe.

The driver parked the car in front of the restaurant Shu Yi had booked.

The three of them got out and entered the private room Shu Yi had reserved.

As soon as they opened the door, Shu Yi ran over and hugged Xu Yunzheng.

"Zhengzheng, did you miss Auntie?" Shu Yi had been away filming for almost half a month and really missed Yin Yin and the others.

"I missed Auntie," Xu Yunzheng replied.

Upon hearing this, Shu Yi couldn't resist and hugged Xu Yunzheng tightly, planting kisses on his little face.

"Auntie, Mommy said Zhengzheng can't let girls kiss him randomly," Xu Yunzheng said as he touched the spot on his face where Shu Yi had just kissed him.

"Oh no, does that mean Auntie has been rejected by Zhengzheng?" Shu Yi said dramatically, almost to the point of tears.

Xu Yunzheng didn't know what to do and turned to Shen Yin for help. He didn't mean it; why was Auntie crying?

"Auntie is just acting," Shen Yin explained.

"Auntie, I'm sorry. Zhengzheng will give you a kiss," Xu Yunzheng said as he hugged Shu Yi's neck and gently patted her shoulder.

Shu Yi smiled through her tears.

"Will Zhengzheng give Sister a kiss too?" Qi Ji thought it was amusing and joined in the fun.

"Yes."

"Alright, enough standing around. Let's sit and chat," Shen Yin suggested.

A few people sat down on the chairs. The restaurant was a high-end establishment, with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere. Shu Yi had reserved a private family dining room, making it feel warm and intimate.

After they were seated, Shu Yi asked Shen Yin and Qi Ji to order the food while she played with little Zhengzheng.

"Shu Yi, how long will you be staying this time?" Shen Yin asked.

"Just two days, then I have to leave again. I likely won't be back until late September."

"That must be so tiring for you, Sister Shu Yi."

"It is, but I plan on taking a vacation after I finish filming this movie!"

"What about that matter you mentioned last time, when you said you'd tell me more details when you returned?" Shen Yin inquired.
