Chapter 134: You’re Not Dead
Chapter 134
She never thought she would fall in love with a paper man.
Even if she went back in the future, this poignant experience would remain the strongest tie in her life that she could never let go of.
"Miaomiao, how many treasure maps have you found so far?" Hua Wuyou suddenly asked.
"Including the one you have, there are two in total. There is one more in the Dark Cabinet that Mo Mo has gone to retrieve, but we still don\'t know the whereabouts of the last one."
Hua Wuyou paused for a moment. "It\'s not that easy to get the treasure map from the chief of Dark Cabinet."
"Do you know where the last treasure map is?" Xia Miaomiao asked.
"I searched for it before too. I got mine from a pirate. I heard one is in Yunnan, and another appeared in Lianhua Village before. I went looking for it but couldn\'t find it."
Xia Miaomiao stood up and looked at him. "Lianhua Village? Where is it?"
"At the border of Yue City and Chu City, a remote village."
"That\'s great, it\'s better to have a lead than nothing. Hua Wuyou, thank you..."
Hua Wuyou pinched her face and smiled. "If you really want to thank me, then give me a kiss."
Xia Miaomiao bit her lips and leaned over to kiss his lips lightly.
Hua Wuyou pressed the back of her head and deepened the kiss.
They lingered, reluctant to part.
Not until the sound of fireworks exploded in the distance did Hua Wuyou reluctantly let her go.
His hand caressed her face as he gazed at her affectionately. Under the fireworks, they made the most beautiful painting.
"Miaomiao, I have to go back to Palace of No Worries tomorrow to take care of some things first, then join you guys to search for the treasure map in Lianhua Village," Hua Wuyou said.
"Okay, I\'ll go back to Palace of No Worries with you."
"Great..."
...
The next day, Xia Miaomiao explained the situation to Sang Li and Xiao Han and accompanied Hua Wuyou back to Palace of No Worries.
Sang Li and Xiao Han stayed in Chu City waiting for them.
The two went out to the streets, planning to walk around and relax after the stressful past two days.
There were quite a few girls out shopping, especially for jewelry, rouge and powder.
The two overheard several girls talking about how the Double Seventh Festival was coming up in several days.
"I didn\'t expect they also celebrated the Double Seventh Festival in ancient times?" Xiao Han laughed.
"They might have more ritual senses than we do today. Look, the streets have already started decorating," Sang Li said.
"Mo Mo loved this festival the most! It would have been so much fun if she were here!"
Sang Li paused, her tone filled with worry, "There has been no news about Mo Mo for almost a month. I don\'t know how she is doing or whether Faceless has gone to find her."
"Sister Li, don\'t worry too much. Mo Mo\'s martial arts skills are so high that it\'s unlikely for her to get into serious trouble. Not to mention Faceless once taught her lightness martial arts too, so she is even more formidable than before!"
Behind Sang Li and Xiao Han, Gu Zhi suddenly caught up to them and grabbed Sang Li\'s hand.
"Zhi, what\'s the matter?"
"Sister, someone has been following us..." Gu Zhi said in a low voice.
"Who?" Xiao Han glanced around but didn\'t see any suspicious figures.
Sang Li focused her senses. "Let\'s go back to the inn first!"
The three returned to the inn and entered the room.
"Zhi, did you see the person following us?" Sang Li asked.
"A black-clothed man wearing a mask." Gu Zhi said grimly.
"A black-clothed man wearing a mask..." Sang Li fell into deep thought, suddenly realizing something.
"Could it be someone from Dark Cabinet?!"
"What?" Xiao Han exclaimed: "Why would people from Dark Cabinet follow us?"
Sang Li hesitated for a moment. "Could something have happened to Mo Mo??"
"Huh? No way, right? What should we do now?"
"Sister, although Faceless was from Dark Cabinet, it\'s not easy for him to leave there. I\'ve heard a little about this organization before. People who enter there either die or can only stay there for life." Gu Zhi said.
Sang Li furrowed her brows. "I wonder what their purpose is for following us."
"Sister, they will likely come find us tonight."
Sang Li stood up. "No, we have to leave here quickly."
"But... Miaomiao and the others haven\'t come back yet." Xiao Han said.
"That\'s why we have to go before they come back. If they were here, wouldn\'t that put them in danger too? Miaomiao just recovered her health and can\'t risk it again."
Xiao Han thought for a moment, realizing Sang Li had a point. Miaomiao\'s health was weak so it would be too risky for her to get involved.
The three checked out and as Sang Li left, she explained the situation to the innkeeper and gave him a few instructions.
They rode out of the city on horses right away.
Not long after leaving the city, several black-clothed men flew out from the woods.
Without a word, they charged forward to attack them.
"Sister, go first, I\'ll hold them off!" Gu Zhi flew forward to fight the black-clothed men.
Sang Li gazed anxiously at Gu Zhi for a moment, but she knew she and Xiao Han had no martial arts skills so would only distract Gu Zhi if they stayed.
After thinking it through, she decisively rode off with Xiao Han.
But after some distance, they realized one person was chasing them from behind.
"Sister Li, let\'s split up. He can only chase one of us!" Xiao Han said, riding her horse towards a different direction.
When the black-clothed man reached the fork in the road, he hesitated for two seconds before deciding to chase Xiao Han, knowing there was a cliff that way so she would have nowhere to run.
After riding for a while and not seeing the man chase her, Sang Li immediately realized he must have gone after Xiao Han instead.
She knitted her brows anxiously and turned back right away to chase in Xiao Han\'s direction.
When Sang Li arrived, she witnessed with her own eyes Xiao Han being forced off the cliff!
"Xiao Han!!!"
Sang Li cried out in despair, taking out her crossbow and shooting at the black-clothed man.
The man swung his sword, slicing the arrow neatly in two.
He turned to Sang Li, who wasn\'t far away, and flew towards her with his sword.
Sang Li pulled the reins for the horse to lower its body to the side, while shooting another arrow from her crossbow.
The man did an aerial flip to dodge, sending out a willow leaf dart as he spun.
The horse\'s leg was struck by the dart, causing it to lose control and throw Sang Li to the ground.
Sang Li landed in the bushes, her crossbow falling out of her hands.
"Go to hell!" The man flew over with his sword about to stab Sang Li, but she showed no fear on her face, calmly closing her eyes and accepting her fate.
At this critical moment, a dark red whip lashed out.
The sword was entangled and the man was forced to land on the ground.
"You?" His gaze was overcast as he looked at Su Mo in her red clothes. "How are you still alive?!"
