Chapter 44 - 63: Monster in the Kitchen
His deep eyes were focused on the documents on the table. He picked up a file, skimmed through it, and casually tossed it into the trash bin, “Since they’re in such a hurry, I’ll just cut off their hands and feet for her.”
“Yes, sir.” Han Changqing obliged, then got up and left.
Xiao Mohan stood up, moved the bookshelf on the other side of the study aside, then returned to the room from the balcony.
The room was still lit; she was lying on the spacious bed, her sleep was extremely restless!
He reached out and turned off the light, leaving only a desk lamp on.
“From now on, I’m here! There will be no unrest.” He whispered, then rolled onto his side on the bed and reached out his arm, pulling her into his arms.
Gu Chuyan murmured, shrinking into his arms. Her small hand clutched at his clothes, refusing to let go. As if his embrace brought her a sense of safety she craved.
In the middle of the night, Gu Chuyan had a dream. She dreamed that Xiao Mohan was hacked in half with a knife and fell in front of her.
“Xiao Mohan! No!” she sat upright, suddenly.
She sat on the bed, panting heavily! Her sleepwear was soaked in sweat. She shook her head repeatedly. The bedroom was empty, void of Xiao Mohan and of gore.
“It was just a dream.” she whispered, then clambered out of bed.
She descended the stairs barefoot, faintly hearing a sound, she headed downstairs towards the source of the commotion.
“Bang!” she stood in the doorway, looking into the kitchen, where a tall figure was struggling to cook. A chicken egg was tossed from the pan, heading straight for the top of his head.
“**** ” A man’s curse echoed from the kitchen.
Startled, Gu Chuyan took a step back. She saw him pick up a knife and a fishing line. As he swung the knife down, the fish split in two. Worst of all, the fish tail ended up stuck to his face.
The fish head, however, jumped onto his shirt collar and slid down his body. “Ahhh.” A mournful cry ot pain echoed trom inside. The man picked up a chili pepper and started to chop it, his knife work astonishingly fast.
Having chopped up the chili pepper, he turned around without adding oil and tossed the red chili into the pan, stir-frying it.
“Pop pop pop.” The pan sizzled, the chili pepper getting singed and causing him to tear up from the pungent smell.
He kicked out and the pan toppled to the floor!
“Thud.” The hot pan hit the ground, landing on his foot.
“Ouch!” The man hopped up, landing back on the pan, the sharp sound of his burn reaching Gu Chuyan.
All Gu Chuyan saw was a flurry of crows flying overhead, a figure bolting out of the kitchen and landing on the couch!
“Xiao Mohan! I swear I’ll get you!” Wen Shui sprawled out on the couch, pointing towards the ceiling, venting his frustrations.
Ever since he was little, he felt inferior to Xiao Mohan, who also bullied him!
Wen Shui refused to accept this. He was of the most handsome men, full of charm! Although he admitted that Xiao Mohan was all man, that didn’t give him the right to bully him!
“Are you okay?” Gu Chuyan approached him, seeing his despondent face, and asked with concern.
Upon hearing her voice, Wen Shui jumped from the sofa! After glancing at her a couple of times, he hid his hand behind his back, not wanting her to see.
“What exactly did you see just now?” Wen Shui asked defensively.
“I saw everything I needed to see.” She answered.
She looked at the egg white on his head, dripping onto his handsome face! His clothes, studded with fish scales. His hands, cut several times, with an alarming amount of blood. His feet, scalded red, almost cooked to perfection.
“If you dare to tell anyone, I won’t let you off.” Wen Shui extended his hand in front of her, in an X shape, as if threatening to kill her if she said anything..
