Chapter 566: How Much She Mattered to Him
Yun Bixue put on an expression just like a poor kitten, stirring Xie Limo’s heart. He forced himself to look away from her as he knew that he definitely wouldn’t be able to handle how cute and adorable she was.
He couldn’t allow himself to be soft-hearted. “Yun Bixue, be clear. If you had been careless, could the mark have been so red?” He had been too protective of her all along. He couldn’t imagine how she could have slapped herself. It had been a hard slap, and he could tell that she used a lot of force with one look.
Realizing that pretending to be wronged was useless, a glint flashed across Yun Bixue’s eyes. “Hubby, don’t you care about me anymore? You’re so harsh on me.”
“Don’t interrupt me. I’m not being harsh. When have I ever stopped caring about you? Don’t let your imagination run wild. Didn’t you agree to take care of yourself and share my burden? Is this how you take care of yourself?” She knew that when he had seen her back then, his heart felt as though it was being ripped to pieces.
“I’ll definitely change. I won’t do this anymore.”
“Yun Bixue, you’ve said this multiple times. You’ll still try to get away with this next time.” Xie Limo’s head throbbed. He couldn’t come up with any ideas on how to handle his wife.
Yun Bixue bowed down her head as she listened to him ‘disciplining’ her. She was well aware that when her husband was mad, he would address her by her full name.
Yun Bixue recalled the past few days and suddenly felt that she had suffered greatly. Sniffing, she looked away from him.
“I’m talking to you. Do you hear me?”
Yun Bixue ignored him and didn’t reply.
Xie Limo felt that something was amiss. Looking at how uncomfortable she looked, he lifted her head. She was pouting, and her cheeks were all puffed up, showing that she was feeling unsatisfied and wronged.
Furthermore, her eyes were filled with tears.
This made Xie Limo’s heart ache terribly. “I’m not being harsh, and I’m not scolding you. Why are you crying? Don’t you know that you mean more to me than my own self?” His words carried a lot of weight—he had never said those words so easily. This time, he didn’t have a choice after seeing her cry.
Yun Bixue’s heart shuddered. Waves of emotions crashed and rippled throughout her heart, and it seemed as though tiny flowers bloomed in her heart.
She knew that he cared for her, but she never knew that she actually meant so much to him.
Those words took her by surprise, and she stared blankly at Xie Limo.
“Your face is all messy from crying so much.”
Yun Bixue leaned sweetly on Xie Limo’s shoulder. She didn’t want to cry, but crying and throwing a tantrum was indeed useful. At least he wasn’t angry anymore nor chiding her now.
“Can you tell me what happened after the fire?”
“No, there isn’t much to it anyway.” She was afraid that if she revealed too much, Xie Limo would be angry and worried. Since she was already back, there was no point in discussing it anymore.
He knew that she wouldn’t speak even if he asked.
Xie Limo caressed her head lovingly and resignedly. He then instructed his subordinates to serve their meals.
“Don’t move. You don’t have to get off the bed. We’ll just set up the table here and eat. What do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you.”
Just as Xie Limo was taking care of Yun Bixue’s meal, his phone rang. He lowered his head to look at his phone and saw that Yun Bilu was calling.
“Your younger sister is calling.” After letting Yun Bixue know who it was, he picked up the call.
“Brother-in-law, I’ve been calling my elder sister several times, but she’s not picking up. Is she okay? What happened? I called you before, but you didn’t answer too. I’m so worried.” Yun Bilu bombarded him with a lot of questions, and the worry and anxiety in her voice were very much apparent.
“I’ve been pretty busy lately since there are a lot of things to settle for the wedding, so I didn’t have time to check my phone. Do you want to speak to your elder sister?” As he spoke, Xie Limo passed the phone to Yun Bixue.
