Chapter 260 Let Go Of Me
The housekeeper, Mrs. Jiang, was already outside ready to greet the Madam. She was a bit worried when Zhao Lifei stumbled out of the car, her face white as a sheet. She looked like she was about to throw up any moment from now.
Mrs. Jiang rushed to Zhao Lifei to help her make the small walk to the front entrance. "Welcome home, Madam. Are you alright?"
Zhao Lifei brushed past the housekeeper with an absentminded expression on her face, as if she did not realize there was even a person next to her asking her a question.
"Madam?" The housekeeper walked after Zhao Lifei, guiding her up the stairs and into the bedroom of their Young Master.
Zhao Lifei still did not respond. She kicked off her shoes and climbed into the bed, her body curled into a ball. She was visibly shaken and was whimpering in the bed like a wounded kitty. It did not take long for small sniffles to sound throughout the spacious room. The lights were flickered off, making the atmosphere in the room even more depressing.
The housekeeper was riddled with uneasiness. She had never seen Zhao Lifei in such a state, especially when she was renowned for being cold and confident.
Mrs. Jiang closed the door behind her and ran downstairs to report this to the Old Butler. The Old Butler did not waste any time to inform Chen Gaonan.
Chen Gaonan had just walked out of the Black Room when he received a call. He peered back into the room where an unconscious Zhao Wenjin was laying on the ground, blindfolded and bound by all sorts of ropes with complicated knots.
Chen Gaonan picked up his phone when he saw it was the Old Butler calling. "Yes, the President is with me... He’s currently finishing up today’s paperwork. What?! Alright, I’ll notify him right away."
The Old Butler purposely made the story more dramatic and dire than it truly was in hopes that the Young Master would rush home.
The Old Butler knew his Young Master’s temperament, mainly because he had raised the boy and watched him grow. It was known that Yang Feng did not give two damns when it came to women. He had personally witnessed the Young Master refuse a hospital visitation to one of his past flings who had a high fever. Even though the Old Butler had seen the way Yang Feng treated Zhao Lifei, he could not help himself from worrying that the young man would not return home.
His worry was all put to rest when in less than twenty minutes, a black Maybach drove through the front gates, speeding up the hill path, and out came the dashing and suave young man whose face put the gods to shame.
Yang Feng did not waste any time bolting up the stairs and into his bedroom. His eyes easily adjusted to the darkness. With the lights that rushed in from the hallway, he could see the silhouette of a woman on his bed.
He felt his entire heart being ripped into pieces, stomped on, and ground into dust at the sounds coming from the bed. Her tiny whimpers and sniffles, they were all breaking him.
"My love..." He hoarsely replied, closing the door behind him, shutting them into darkness. The only source of light was from the windows, but the heavy curtains blocked any sunlight from entering.
Yang Feng’s long legs easily crossed the distance between him and Zhao Lifei. He flung the blankets off of her, a protesting wail erupting.
"No!" She cried out, a sob following afterward.
Yang Feng panicked. His heart skipped a beat, drumming one hundred beats per second. He kicked off his shoes and climbed into the bed, scooping her into his arms.
Zhao Lifei’s entire body stiffened before her struggle began. "Let me go! I promise not to run, so please!" She became delusional, believing the person embracing her was the man that had plagued her nightmares for the longest time.
Yang Feng hugged her tighter, pulling her onto his lap. He kept one arm on her back, pressing her into him, while the other came to grab her face. "It’s me, my love. It’s Yang Feng." He leaned his forehead onto hers, watching as the insanity in her eyes was beginning to wash away, tears tumbling down them.
"Yang...Feng?" She croaked, sniffling as she tried to roughly wipe away her tears. Seeing his stormy eyes bore into hers, she was slowly coming back to her senses. Without waiting for his reply, she crashed her body onto his, changing their position so that she could hold onto him for dear life.
Pain spread throughout Yang Feng’s chest at her automatic reaction. Her legs rested on his sides, as her arms tangled themselves around his back, her entire body shaking.
"Yes, my love." He whispered, hugging her with equal intensity. He turned his face to kiss the side of her head, one arm caressing her back, while the other stroked her hair. He did not know what had shaken her up to this extent, but if Wei Hantao was the man behind it, friend or not, he would brutally torture him, then burn him alive, until not a single remnant of him could be found.
"Don’t leave me." She blurted out without thinking.
"I won’t, not even if you beg me to. You’re mine until death do us apart, and even when it does, I will seek you out in our next life." He declared, his arms tightening around her. He was sure of it. Nothing in this world could separate him from her. He was too deeply in love with her to even fathom the idea of leaving her.
Zhao Lifei buried her face into his shoulders, breathing in his scent. It made her brain tingle with reassurance, comfort wrapped around her. In his arms, she felt safe and protected. Her unsettled heart finally calmed down.
Yang Feng continued to lavish her with kisses, whether it was on the crown of her head, her hair, or her shoulders. He closed his eyes as he savored their hug, for nothing in this world could ever replace the feeling of having her so close and in his arms. She was his for this lifetime and the ones after that.

Zhao Lifei had fallen asleep on his shoulders.
Yang Feng realized it when her breaths became steady and her body was rhythmically rising up and down against his. He gingerly placed her on the bed, and because of her inseparable arms that refused to detach from his body, he came down with her. He grabbed the blanket and covered her with it, pulling it up to her chin. It was the middle of the day and he still had a lot of work to do, but none of it mattered to him. The only thing he cared about was the woman in his arms.
He threw his legs over her body and hugged her dearly, completely spooning her. Even as she slept, he continued to monitor her condition. Every few minutes, he would pepper her face with kisses, and when the smallest of creases formed on her forehead, he rushed to soothe it.
It did not take long for the two of them to be tangled in each other’s arms, fast asleep.
