Chapter 253: Chen Dong’s Transformation

Chapter 253: Chen Dong’s Transformation

The Heaven Execution Training Camp was a familiar yet strange place for Xia Fei. He once desired to become a student of the camp, yet he realized that he did not belong here.

Many people in the training camp remembered Xia Fei, since they all knew about the duel between him and Chen Dong. It was described as the most intense duel in the history of the training camp. In addition to that, Xia Fei also won the Extreme Race and joined the internal division. These had become hot topics among the students.

However, the rumors related to Xia Fei were not all positive. Some said that he had gone missing for an entire year while he was exploring some ancient ruins, and when he came back, he had completely lost his mind; hence, he was not willing to stay at an outstanding place like the internal division for an extended period.

Some people also claimed that Xia Fei despised the Heaven Execution Training Camp. He chose not to sign the contract with the Adjudicator Union because his background was even more impressive. He was able to drive the clouds away with a single wave of his hand.

Either way, there were many rumors related to Xia Fei, and some were utterly ridiculous after countless people added their bits and improvised on them. Most people assumed that he was a weirdo in the camp. Why would someone like him be willing to work as a petty librarian in the old library if he was not a weirdo?

Xia Fei was not fussy about the rumors. He simply ignored both the friendly and hostile looks he received while he was walking on his path in the Heaven Execution Training Camp. It was his life, he did not need to be held accountable for it. Besides, Xia Fei never cared how the others were seeing him. He just needed to keep a clear conscience. He could not care less about other people’s thoughts.

The internal division was empty and deserted as usual. Xia Fei dragged Chen Dong and Moon Song out of the training rooms. The three went to the canteen just like when they first came to the internal division. Xia Fei ordered a cup of tea, while Chen Dong only asked for a cup of water.

Meanwhile, Moon Song seemed to be in a great mood. She ordered a bunch of food and drinks even though she was still holding a cucumber in her hand.

It felt like she absolutely hated cucumber to the marrow of her bones. She would occasionally take a cucumber out and munch on it. Xia Fei once speculated that the cucumbers had some other uses in addition to satisfying her hunger, yet he never had the chance to prove it.

Chen Dong seemed more muscular than before. The man did not like wearing a shirt. His upper body was always naked, exposing his muscles. It was a surprise that he was wearing the training camp’s uniform during the opening ceremony. It was the only time Xia Fei had seen him wearing a shirt. Since then, no matter what occasion and season it was, Chen Dong would only wear a pair of loose pants. From Xia Fei’s observation, its pockets were also empty.

Chen Dong did not change much since they last met. He still had the same cold and determined look in his eyes, but Xia Fei had a feeling that Chen Dong’s ferocious aura had grown even stronger. The canteen felt a little chilly when he sat inside it.

However, it did not mean the temperature would drop significantly. It was like the sunlight after a snow. It might be cold, but it was not bone-chilling. Xia Fei knew that Chen Dong’s transformation was due to him absorbing a large quantity of the Heart of Spirit. Luckily, he was born a righteous man, so he did not go down the evil path.

Moon Song kept munching on her cucumber while talking to them. She was the happiest among them. She was very happy that Xia Fei had come to the internal division to visit her. She did not mind if Xia Fei did not come specifically for her. She proceeded to share the things that happened in the past two years expressively.

“How long are you going to stay at the training camp?” asked Moon Song while placing her slender pale legs on the table. The quality of her purple dress was not bad, and there was a faint fragrance from her too. It was obvious that she did not go back to her room because of a stomach ache. She was making herself look presentable.

However, it was slightly inappropriate for Moon Song to raise her legs in front of Xia Fei and Chen Dong while the two were sitting right opposite to her. They could not even avoid looking into the dress.

Xia Fei could only pretend that he did not see anything. He said, “I’ll be leaving soon.”

Moon Song frowned. She quickly withdrew her legs and said, “How unreliable are you? You said that you’ve come to visit us, yet you are leaving so soon. It’s better if you don’t come.”

Moon Song sounded extremely angry. Her big bust was pulsating continuously, as if the pair of rabbits was on the verge of jumping out.

Xia Fei smiled. “There’s a saying in my hometown: ‘A gentleman’s friendship is as insipid as water.’ While we don’t meet often, we still miss each other deep in our hearts. Isn’t that good enough? I’ve only come to get something for old man Qin Mang in the library as well as to tell you two something in person.”

Chen Dong nodded and said, “It must be something very important if you aren’t willing to discuss it over the phone. I wonder what it is?”

Moon Song roughly pushed Chen Dong aside. “Maniac Chen, wait.”

Moon Song bit her lower lip and asked with a serious expression, “You mentioned that there’s me in your heart—no, I mean, you miss us deeply in your heart; is that true?”

“Of course, I don’t have many friends in this world. I definitely missed you two. After all, we’ve been through so much together. How could I possibly forget you two?” Xia Fei said.

Chen Dong nodded in agreement while Moon Song said with a pleased look, “That’s more like it. I bet you won’t dare to forget us. Fine, what do you need from us?”

Xia Fei proceeded to explain the danger that the Heart of Spirit posed to human bodies to them. He wondered why Moon Song was still the same as before even though he had noticed Chen Dong’s transformation. Could it be that she was naturally resistant toward the Heart of Spirit?

Chen Dong asked sternly after listening to Xia Fei’s explanation, “Are you telling the truth?”

“Every single word,” Xia Fei said.

Chen Dong hit the table. If the table was not solid enough, he would have smashed the table into pieces with a single punch. The tables in the internal division were very sturdy to prevent students from damaging them.

“I was wondering why my temper has been getting worse lately. I could even end up dead if not for my ability being ice-related,” Chen Dong grunted. “It seems that I’ll have to think of a plan.”

Xia Fei came to a realization. The ice abilities were naturally capable of suppressing the evil desire in one’s heart; hence, Chen Dong had been able to hold it back until now. His transformation was not too obvious.

“There’s one solution, but it’s very hard to make it work,” Xia Fei said.

The book that Slaughtershadow gave him recorded three ways of intaking the Heart of Spirit. Among them, one was free of danger, yet it was only possible if they had a pure purple ore. It was very difficult to find that kind of ore.

Chen Dong was slightly uneasy after learning the truth. Xia Fei knew the man was very passionate about his cultivation. His desire to become stronger was second to none. Therefore, Chen Dong immediately sulked when he found out that there was something wrong with the method he was using.

Moon Song suddenly said indifferently, “I was wondering what you wanted to tell us. I already knew that there’s something wrong with the method.”

Chen Dong suddenly asked with wide eyes, “Moon Song, you shouldn’t be able to suppress the evil drive without an ice ability, but how come you’re perfectly fine?”
