Chapter 797
Lun Tai rushed forward while quickly assigning instructions to every one of his team members through their guild channel.
At the same time, he also brought out a spare remote controller, using their Tidal Fighter to – from the sky – initiate a wave of bombardment against Thorned Flower Guild’s Tidal Fighter, which was blown up before it could lift off.
After that one wave of attacks, however, Lun Tai quickly had the Tidal Fighter leave the battlefield, hovering someplace safe from the battle.
There was no helping it. Although the Tidal Fighter possessed a formidable firepower, a guild with a deep foundation like Thorned Flower Guild would surely have many methods of taking it down.
And while their Meteor Rock Guild had long since grown beyond what it used to be, a Tidal Fighter was still an unacceptable loss.
Qimu Xi was the fastest one in their guild. Moreover, she had also purchased the Gaze Teleport skill, allowing her to instantly teleport to any location within sight. It was the best way to initiate a raid.
Back when Roddy suddenly charged forward like a madman, Lun Tai had been quick to understand why. Immediately, he ordered Qimu Xi to teleport beside Gaza to entangle him.
Bei Tai was the only one from their team who did not move forward. He remained on the same spot, his liquid metal arm raised up high. It had transformed into a rapid-fire gun, which swiftly unloaded bullets into the distance through a high parabolic angle.
Beside him was a pile of steel ingots that he had brought out from his storage gear beforehand.
When Chen Xiaolian left, he had informed Bei Tai that he had to change his path. His innate skill, Air Incarceration, was an excellent support skill. However, the backlash from using the skill – should he encounter an enemy that was too strong and could break free from the Air Incarceration skill – was equally great.
During the past few months, Bei Tai had changed his development path to the enhancement of his liquid metal arm.
Although his arm could not transform into data streams like the monstrous Tian Lie, its self-repairing ability was almost on the same level. Additionally, it could also transform according to Bei Tai’s thoughts at any moment.
After purchasing its expensive follow-up upgrades, the arm could even replicate any weapons it had touched before.
Naturally, the upgrade for replicating a high-grade energy weapon would require an astronomical number of points. Even with Qiao Qiao’s guidebook BUG to help them earn points, their guild still could not afford that upgrade.
Still, replicating bullet-based weapons alone was enough to give it a sufficiently formidable firepower.
As for the matter of ammo consumption, the solution was simple. He simply needed to provide enough materials for the liquid metal arm to assimilate.
His liquid metal left arm raised up high, Bei Tai fired an intense salvo of bullets at a diagonal angle. After that, his liquid metal left arm swiftly grew smaller. Bei Tai swiftly retracted his left hand to pick up a steel ingot.
After the liquid metal arm made contact with the steel ingot, it immediately flowed like liquid, swallowing the steel ingot. Next, the liquid metal arm grew even bigger than before.
Raising his hand again, Bei Tai quickly fired out another intense salvo of bullets.
Even though he was alone, the fire support from Bei Tai was the equivalent to that of a small team with several members. Countless heavy artillery bombarded the positions taken by the members of Thorned Flower Guild without respite, throwing them into a state of confusion.
Xia Xiaolei had entered his range of fire.
Numerous tendrils suddenly emerged from his whole body. Next, the tip of the tendrils began hardening. Fins grew out from the rear part and the tendrils blasted towards the Magic Mech that was up in the air.
When compared to conventional explosives, the explosive power of these organic missiles was a fair bit weaker. However, by relying on his brainwaves, Xia Xiaolei could control them, giving them considerable maneuverability. Every time the missiles were fired out, they would first spread out before each drawing an arc in the air as they flew towards the Magic Mech from different directions.
On Gaza’s end, his mech only had one arm left. Even though he was constantly sweeping his surroundings with beams of light, he was incapable of blowing up all the organic missiles. Every now and again, a missile would strike the mech’s body.
Despite the formidable might of the Magic Mech’s defensive power, its exterior surface was – bit by bit – taking damage.
Roddy, who had been charging forward, was already approaching the perimeter of the camp. Suddenly, a Thorned Flower Guild member rushed out from behind a bunker to face Roddy.
“Out of my way!”
Roddy roared and the laser blasters on the mech’s two shoulders fired out a series of attacks to force the Player to dodge. At the same time, an alloy war blade popped out from the mech’s right arm and slashed towards the Player’s waist.
This Thorned Flower Guild member was a melee combat-type. After nimbly evading the attacks from the laser blasters, he swung forth a flaming sword to clash against the mech’s war blade.
The flaming sword was quite the high-grade weapon. With a clanging sound, the mech’s warblade was cut off in the middle. Several drops of molten iron dripped down the ground from the severed part.
“Damn it! Get out of my way!”
Roddy could already see Nicole, who was lying on the ground not far away from his position. There was no way to tell if she was dead or alive. Thus, Roddy was simply in no mood to fight. The minigun below the mech’s left arm fired out a wave of bullets to create an opening. Next, Roddy pushed the thruster to its limit and continued charging towards Nicole.
The Player swung his flaming sword and was about to give chase when he saw Xia Xiaolei coming in right behind Roddy. Additionally, several organic missiles were also shooting towards him.
The Player inserted his sword into the ground and swiftly threw a pile of dirt from the ground upwards, scattering them in front of him. Next, the clump of hot soil was shattered, spreading forward quickly like a shotgun attack to blow up all the organic missiles. By then, however, Xia Xiaolei had already arrived before him.
Bellowing, the Player slashed his sword at Xia Xiaolei.
The sword moved very quickly. The Player could predict Xia Xiaolei’s movement, making the sword attack unavoidable. Xia Xiaolei, on the other hand, did not avoid it and allowed the sword to stab into his waist from the left.
The Player grew stunned. Before he could recollect himself, though, he saw the muscles on Xia Xiaolei’s waist wriggling, firmly clamping his sword there.
The edge of the sword scraped against bone, creating a sharp sound. The flames coming from the sword were continuously burning Xia Xiaolei’s body, causing a circular area around the sword wound to turn charred. Despite the seriousness of the injury, Xia Xiaolei seemed completely unaffected and his arms rapidly stretched, transforming into two sharp blades. Like a pair of scissors, the blades swung against the Player’s unprotected neck.
This was the first time this Player had encountered such a fighting style, giving one life to take one life. As a result, he failed to respond in time and was decapitated by Xia Xiaolei’s two blades.
Blood sprayed out wildly and Xia Xiaolei kicked the Player away. Looking down, he easily pulled out the sword stuck in his waist before keeping it in his storage gear. At the same time, he shoved his left hand into his abdomen before abruptly tearing away the part of his body that was scorched black by the flames.
“Damn it, it hurts!”
With the bio armour covering Xia Xiaolei’s face, there was no way to tell what face he was making. Hissing, he inhaled and continued to chase after Roddy.
The Player’s actions, however, did entangle Xia Xiaolei for a few seconds, stopping him from firing out the organic missiles at Gaza. This gave Gaza the time to charge up. A wave of light, bringing with it swirling lightning, swooped down towards Roddy and Xia Xiaolei.
Suddenly, a flaming phoenix rose up from behind Xia Xiaolei to clash against the wave of light. The flames collided with the magic energy in mid-air and both exploded at the same time.
After the collision, the flaming phoenix tumbled backwards, landing on the ground before transforming into Soo Soo. Her face instantly paled. Just as quickly, however, her face returned to normal.
A unicorn with a white body suddenly appeared on the ground behind Soo Soo. Its long horn flashed with holy light and it charged towards Soo Soo like a spear.
Soo Soo evaded the attack and quickly swung her left hand, summoning a fire dragon that struck the unicorn’s body. A shield, formed using holy light, flashed out. Even so, the unicorn was still pushed several metres away. A deep scorch mark had been inflicted upon its body, but it was hardly fatal.
“That’s a holy power shield! Unnie!” Soo Soo whispered before abruptly turning her head to rush towards the Player who had summoned the unicorn. Doing so left her back completely open to the unicorn.
The unicorn let out a lengthy hiss. Its hooves flew as it once again charged at Soo Soo. Halfway through its charge, however, a black spider suddenly appeared before it.
Sturdy pincers clamped down on the unicorn’s sharp horn, but they failed to completely stop the momentum of the horn. In the end, the horn managed to partially stab into the lower part of the mandibles. At the same time, though, a sticky cobweb enveloped the unicorn’s body.
Qiao Qiao kicked the ground with both legs and her body became like an arrow whizzing right above the ground as she shot towards the unicorn. The moment she made contact with the unicorn, she transformed into a clump of black mist that enveloped the unicorn’s body.
The unicorn raised its head and released a long hiss of pain. The holy light shield promptly shone brightly, its rays piercing through the black mist. Despite that, the black mist continued to entangle the unicorn, attempting non-stop to go deeper.
Soo Soo, who was running forward, did not even look back. She waved her right hand to summon a flaming phoenix that flew towards the Player who had summoned the unicorn.
The Player remained calm. He sneered and the same holy light shield lit up around his body. The brightness of this shield was even more dazzling compared to the one on the unicorn.
The flaming phoenix struck the top part of the shield. In the end, it only managed to – after exhausting its strength – burn away a small part of the shield. As for the Player, only the left arm part of his protective suit was damaged, albeit lightly.
By then, the Player had raised a war hammer, condensed using holy light. He swung to hurl it towards Soo Soo.
Before he could let go of the war hammer, however, he suddenly screamed. Two bloody blades had appeared on his chest.
Qimu Xi’s attack caused her to lose her stealth mode, but with a cold face filled with killing intent, she swung both blades to either side, cleanly severing the Player’s waist.
The twin blades were enhanced with an armour-breaking attribute. Although the level of enhancement was not enough to break through Gaza’s Magic Mech, it was not something that the holy light shield could withstand.
There was a distance of less than 50 metres between Roddy and Nicole, but the opposing Thunderstorm Tank fired an arc of light that struck the Sentinel mech’s side. As the Sentinel mech had been enhanced using Star Sand before, the attack was not fatal. That said, it did destroy the side thruster. This caused the mech to abruptly lose its balance and it staggered before falling down. Before the mech fell to the ground, however, Roddy raised one of the mech’s hand to prop the mech up before firing a missile at the ground.
The missile exploded the moment it hit the ground, but the explosion did not destroy the mech’s enhanced frame. It simply threw the mech forward.
It was then that the Magic Mech – still up in the sky – suddenly shot backwards before rushing towards Roddy. Several halos had formed on its left hand, wrapping around the left arm, from the shoulder all the way down to its fist.
“A rescue?!”
Gaza sneered and his left fist, propelled by the accelerating Magic Mech, punched towards the head of the Sentinel mech, which was in mid-air. Roddy activated the Sentinel mech’s thrusters, but only managed to barely avoid the punch striking the Sentinel mech’s head. The punch struck its right arm instead.
Even though it had been enhanced using Star Sand, the Sentinel mech was still incapable of withstanding this punch from the Magic Mech. And so, the entire right arm was smashed to pieces.
Just as Gaza was about to swing another punch, Lun Tai roared furiously, swinging a shield forward while putting himself between Roddy and the Magic Mech.
Despite being the slowest, Lun Tai had finally arrived at the battlefield as well.
“Realm of Immunity!”
The Guardian Shield in Lun Tai’s hand was an [A] class equipment. However, seeing how Roddy’s enhanced Sentinel mech could not even withstand a single punch from this enemy, Lun Tai knew that his shield was definitely incapable of withstanding this one attack as well. Thus, he quickly utilized his ultimate skill.
Gaza’s punch struck Lun Tai’s shield.
Both of Lun Tai’s feet remained firmly in place. Surprisingly, Gaza’s punch had failed to inflict any damage to him. Even his shield did not appear damaged in the slightest.
It was the built-in skill of the Guardian Shield; Realm of Immunity, a skill that would last for 30 seconds. Any skills below [S] class would be disregarded. It had a cooldown time of 48 hours.
It was a very strong defensive skill. However, its effective time was too short while its cooldown time was too long.
The area defended by the shield was not large. Thus, Lun Tai had to exert himself to swing his left arm without respite, moving constantly to stop every one of the Magic Mech’s blows.
At any rate, the Realm of Immunity only worked on the shield itself. Lun Tai had no desire to allow the fist to hit his body, not even once.
Qiao Qiao, in her black mist form, finally broke through the unicorn’s holy light shield and disintegrated it to powdery bits. After turning back to her human form, however, she could not stop herself from staggering and she nearly fell to the ground. She hastily shoved two Healing Beast Bloods into her mouth.
As the battle continued, Roddy finally arrived before Nicole. With its remaining left arm, the Sentinel mech scooped up Nicole. Then, without even looking back, it rushed off.
