Chapter 420 A Mysterious Surprise?
"Why, thank you. It was only normal for me to dispatch him so easily. After all, one of my Domains centers around waging wars against Gods." Michael smirked. Back in the heydays of the Era of Gods, he had been famous for the staunch resistance that he had put up against the oppressive Gods. He had warred with them for decades before the final battle where he had felled a weaker God, stolen its power, and then gotten recognized by the Temple of Gods.
Some of his Domains were Warfare, Fate, History, and Magic. Although these Domains were not too flashy and could be found in various Gods, his aspects were rather unique as he was more known for them amongst the Gods. Warfare was one of his primary Domains, which gave him the upper hand against a God with Warfare as a secondary Domain.
The powers and effective strength of a God was founded upon the Domains that they embodied. A God who embodied just Love, no matter how much longer they had lived for, could not overpower a newly ascended God that embodied War.
Of course, the more Domains a God embodied, the stronger they would become. Plus, they were never restricted to just the Domains that they initially started out with. With a lot of time and effort, they could gradually branch out and adopt more Domains. However, the more Domains they adopted, the more spread out their powers and authority would be. Too much was never the best answer.
Michael possessed multiple Domains. Coincidentally, they all helped him whether in battle or outside battle. While Atrox was also a powerful Major God who had Warfare as a Primary Domain, his initial underestimation of Michael had allowed Michael to seize the initiative and dominate their short confrontation, which he ended up easily winning.
Regardless of the fact that Michael had taken Atrox by storm and surprise, this record would go down in the annals of history, marking it as a day when the powerful Chaos God, Atrox, was dominated and defeated by the newly ascended Major Fate God, Michael.
Michael\'s facial expressions eventually turned more serious and he turned to look at Leon.
"Leon, you are wasting too much time playing these games. War is the best way for you to grow your army, but you also need to focus on your own personal strength. If you had enough strength, then you would have been able to handle the matter that I had just taken care of." Michael berated Leon.
"I get what you mean. But I am here for the experience. I want to see how others use their own Divinity so I can realize my own path." Leon defended himself.
"Very well, then. I won\'t stop you. However, I do have some good news that you might want to hear." Michael said and he smiled mysteriously again.
"Good news?" Leon\'s interest was piqued.
"Yes. But it is not something that we can talk about here. Handle the aftermath of this battle, then when you are free, call out to me. I will bring you to a secure location." Michael said and stood up from his throne. As he got up, the throne turned into dust and fell to the ground, but nothing stained Michael\'s garments.
"Okay, I\'ll do that." Leon agreed and Michael vanished with a nod of acknowledgement.
Then Leon turned around and did as Michael had said. There was not much to do, to be honest. The aftermath of the battle between himself and Garessa, and then the descent of Atrox\'s Incarnation had basically flattened everything in the vicinity. The only parts that were spared were the distant sections of the walls that were not close to the current battlefield.
In other parts of the wall that circled Magair, the fighting had already cooled down. The main army had attacked the strongest point of the war, and that was where Leon was. So, a lot of their assets had been spent and wasted. It was a disastrous loss.
Whoosh.
A strong wind blew, raising a small curtain of dust. The aura of death was heavy in the air and Leon breathed it in, feeling the negative energies resonating with him. Although he did not think and act like normal creatures born of Unholy Energy, in the end, he was fundamentally of the same essence as them.
The aura of death that permeated through the battlefield nourished and boosted his recovery. It was strange, but Leon had long since gotten used to it.
"There is nothing we can do. At least I can turn all the dead into soldiers, so we have not really lost our combat forces. The loss of life is quite bad, though." Leon said to Nedra as the two of them finally separated. Nedra\'s fair face was pale, having used up a lot of energy during their struggle against Alvar, and then against Atrox.
"Mhm." Her lack of energy left her devoid of the energy that she usually put up whenever she interacted with others.
As the two of them looked over the battlefield, a spatial turbulence arose in the sky. Half a dozen magic airships teleported into the area.
Leon looked up as over a dozen powerful A ranks descended from the magic airships, looking over the destruction that had spread out over the battlefield.
"Your Excellency, Leon! What happened here?!" One of them, a Peak A rank Dark Elf, asked as he landed a short distance away from Leon.
Leon took a deep breath and prepared to narrate the events that had happened in quick succession.
