Chapter 248 Too Easy
Crash!
The sound of ice breaking rang through the air, but was immediately overshadowed by the howl of wind being sucked in by the gravity bomb.
Vander\'s eyes grew wide when he focused on the expanding mass of death and destruction. Already, up to a hundred Demons had been captured within the gravity bomb.
Whoosh!
A body flew past him and was pulled into the gravity bomb. The moment the middle aged Demon came within range of the gravity bomb, his body was ripped to shreds by the immense powers at work within the mass of gravity.
The only reason why Vander was not being pulled in by the gravity bomb was because he was using his own gravity magic to offset the pulling effects of the bomb. He stretched out his hands, pointing them to the gravity bomb, and began to channel the mana within his body.
Hummmm!
A beam of purple light shot out of his outstretched palms and stabbed into the dark purple gravity bomb. Vander wanted to use his own gravity magic to dispel the gravity bomb before it was too late.
"Don\'t think I will let you do that!" Behind Vander, Ugar appeared, his leg snapping forward and slamming onto Vander\'s side. The dungeon butler\'s physical strength proved to be higher as Vander was sent barreling away.
Whoosh!
Two shadows appeared beside Vander and put a stop to his flight. Viktor and Raiko had ugly expressions on their faces as they glared at Leon. Out of the three of them, Viktor seemed to be in the worst shape. His left arm was mangled and twisted beyond recognition. His left foot was also just barely hanging together by threads. He looked as if he had been wrung through a dryer.
"We need to go!" Vander realized that there was nothing they could do to salvage this battle. He looked up and saw that Leon and his allies had gathered together again. Beside Leon, Rhys stood with his arms folded. There was not even a wrinkle in his clothes.
The power of reality warping was truly frightening. The only reason why Viktor had not died was because he was lucky enough to have some defensive treasures on his person. If not for them, he would have died from the first strike.
Raiko had maintained the upper hand in his battle against Oris for most of the time, but he was not able to get a decisive advantage. The longer Oris fought, the more he familiarized himself with his new powers. This led to a situation where the initial advantage that Raiko held over Oris slowly lost its advantage the more they fought. Coupled with Oris\' almost infinite regeneration, Raiko was not able to take down the Dark Wing Eagle!
Vander crushed an artifact in his hands and a golden light poured out of his fist. Threads of golden light rushed out of his glowing fist and wrapped around every Demon who was still alive at this point. They only numbered up to roughly two hundred.
Vander no longer hesitated, and with a flash of light, all living Demons were teleported away from the battlefield and taken back to the island they had set off from.
Even after the Demons had vanished, the gravity bomb continued to expand. Leon glanced at it before cutting off the flow of mana that was feeding its size. Immediately, the spell lost its fuel, and began to stall.
\'Pretty costly move. So much mana burned through in just mere moments.\' Leon shook his head. Luckily for him, he did not need to worry about summoning the dead Demons. He no longer needed their bodies as a channel to summon them. He could feel their lingering souls already.
\'Rise up! Serve your new master!\' Leon chanted in his mind with a feeling of glee. He could not wait to see how the Demons would react to fighting their former comrades when they made their next move.
A deep darkness engulfed the surface of the sea, setting it ablaze with black fire. Within the fire, hundreds of figures rose, mostly C rank, but there were a few dozen B ranks amongst them.
As one, the summons all knelt before Leon, the black fire being solid enough for them to maintain their balance.
Rhys watched this scene with a hint of curiosity, but also a slight hint of caution. He had seen a few Necromancers in his life. The Gublin Empire had a few in its ranks, but they were all rather average when compared to Leon. Leon had just risen over five hundred new summons, and if Rhys had to guess, he would say that the strongest Necromancer in the Gublin Empire\'s army could only store a few hundred summons at a time.
\'His Excellency must hear this. Having this Undead Necromancer as an ally would be a great boon to our Empire!\' Rhys thought to himself.
"Let us return." He turned and spoke to Leon. Leon simply nodded with a smile and recalled his summons. Rhys held up a small golden medallion and poured some mana into it. The medallion lit up and a golden portal appeared before them. On the other side of the portal, Leon could see the defensive line of his summons and the soldiers from the Gublin Empire.
The duo stepped through the portal and appeared in the air above the wall. They quickly descended to meet Leonidas and the others.
"That was a fun fight!" Richard laughed and slapped Leon\'s shoulder.
"Hmm." Leon simply hummed. He was in thought right now. He felt that the initial wave of attackers had been taken care of too easily. They most likely knew that Nasir had betrayed them, and even if they were going to come earlier, they had still come with too little numbers. It just did not make sense.
"That was too easy." Leonidas had the same thought at Leon.
Just then, Lyra\'s eyes snapped open. "Someone is trying to open a portal here!" She exclaimed and raised her arms above her head. Her baggy sleeves slid down to her elbows as a massive amount of mana filled the air. The mana was chaotic and rough as Lyra struggled against whoever it was that was trying to open a portal over the wall.
"Ugh!" With a grunt, Lyra let her hands fall down. Sweat ran down the side of her head even though she had not struggled for long.
"I was not able to chase them far." Lyra looked up with a grim expression.
Hummm!
Just then, the mana in the air turned vibrant and a portal appeared in the sky over the sea not too far from shore. The portal was shaky and unstable, but with each passing moment, its stability became more and more solid, until it became good enough.
A dark leg that was tipped off by sharp and menacing looking claws stepped out of the large portal. The portal was even larger than the one that Lyra had used to transport the soldiers from the Gublin Empire.
When the full body of the creature had stepped out of the portal, the faces of everyone changed. Leonidas especially did not have a good look on his face.
The one that had stepped out of the portal was a particularly popular general of the Demon Continent, Gargoyle Lord, Madox.
This one Demon General had been a particularly terrible foe to fight against during the Great Shift. With his legions of gargoyles taking over the sky, no one was able to stand against him. Only when particularly powerful A ranks came together were they able to take back control of the sky from him and his minions.
"Hahahahaha, insects of the Central Continent, did you miss me?" Madox grinned with a hint of madness in his eyes. He tilted his head to the side as the first of his gargoyle minions began to fly through the portal.
The faces of the defenders changed when seven A rank aura spread out from behind Madox. With Madox himself, that made the number of A rankers on the side of the attackers count up to eight!
While the number was not too intimidating, as the defenders had a similar number on their side, what was actually intimidating was the possibility that the gargoyles would not be the only ones making up the attacking force.
And true to their thoughts, several more people bearing A rank auras stepped out of the portal, followed by a multitude of gargoyles streaming out of the portal.
