Chapter 285 Magical Practice 2
Chapter 285 Magical Practice 2
Therefore, the first thing I needed to understand was to make sure how to utilize my mana and activate the spell. After all, memorizing the chant was one thing; making your mana adapt to it was another.
Then, after experimenting with my spell for a little while, I deemed it would be enough since everything looked like it was okay from the outside. I had been using fire magic for almost half a year now, so I had already got familiar with it quite a lot.
Therefore, I started constructing the spell.
"Incandescent flames…..
The incantation danced across my mind and my mouth as I carefully controlled my mana flow. With every word, I felt the power building within myself, ready to be unleashed.
But just as I was at the climax of the spell, suddenly, I felt the mana inside me getting sucked into the spell at a rapid speed.
\'What?\' I couldn\'t understand what was happening as I felt the mana supplied the spell getting over the limit.
\'I made a mistake while constructing the spell.\' Immediately realization hit me. Either the way I had moved my mana was wrong, or I got above myself quite a lot. But in the end, one thing mattered.
\'I need to control the spell, or else I will blow myself up.\'
"Huff…" Releasing a frost breath from my mouth, I calmed myself down as my brain started working at a rapid speed.
Closing my eyes, I focused on the mana around me. At this point, I knew supplying more mana would do more harm than it would do good. Thus, I concentrated on the feeling of mana around me as I started reabsorbing the mana I released. It was a crazy idea for any mage below 5-star to implement, but it didn\'t matter.
<Trait [Child of Mana] activated.>
As I heard the system\'s voice, I sucked more and more mana, though I was not able to absorb all the remaining fire mana.
\'This is all I can do for now.\' With that thought, I conjured a mana barrier all around me as the sound of an explosion filled my ears.
/BOOM/
************
A sudden explosion reverberated through the training grounds, causing everyone to startle and halt their own practices. Smoke billowed from Callius\' cabin, partially obscuring his figure.
Gasps of surprise and concern rippled through the students as they turned their attention toward the unexpected blast. Some instinctively covered their ears, while others hurriedly moved away from the source of the explosion, even though the explosion was not going to hurt them.
Cernais, who had been walking among the cabins, immediately rushed to Callius\' side, his expression a mix of worry and curiosity. He waved his hand, dissipating the lingering smoke to reveal a slightly signed and disheveled Callius.
"Are you all right, Callius? What happened?" Cernais inquired, his voice filled with concern.
However, one little gesture didn\'t pass Callius\' eyes. \'Ho… So, you knew what was going to happen…\' Callius thought as he read the small gestures. After all, the man was sending some transmission lines to another party outside of the class with small sound mana.
But his cheat skill [All Seeing Eye] didn\'t miss that detail. At the same time, it didn\'t look like he was actually aiming for his life. It was more like they were trying to test him.
\'This definitely must be her plan.\' He thought.
Looking at the teacher before him, Callius knew acting tough here would make him look like a fool.
"I made a mistake in constructing the spell, and the supplied mana was more than I expected." And with a simple sentence, he explained what happened here.
Cernais sighed as he kept the act, making it look like relief washed over him as he realized Callius was unharmed. Or, maybe he was genuinely worried.
"Well, mistakes are part of the learning process. It seems you got a bit carried away, my eager student. Remember, precision and control are key to mastering these spells. Still seeing the effect of your spell, it seems the one given to you was a 3-star one, correct?" As he spoke with a small tone, he winked at Callius.
\'Grr…. I really want to punch you right now.\' Callius was fuming inside since there was no way he would normally let a male wink at him like that, but he didn\'t show anything outside. His traits didn\'t let him. \'But it was also my own fault.\'
"Yes. It was a 3-star spell." Callius said, confirming his words.
Other students gathered around, their expressions a mixture of curiosity and concern. They whispered amongst themselves, exchanging speculations and glancing at Callius with both admiration and a hint of caution. After all, everyone was sure they wouldn\'t be able to pull the three-star magic off with such a rapid speed. Even though it was a failure, the strength behind the explosion showed most of the spell was completed.
Even Emma was slightly surprised. Since she was also someone with high-fire affinity, she was also able to feel the mana changes around Callius\' spell.
\'He somehow reduced the mana in the spell.\' However, she still didn\'t know how to do it on her own.
Cernais turned his attention back to Callius, his gaze filled with seriousness to teach. "Please come to my room after this lesson ends. I will guide you with your mana control. We will work on refining your techniques and ensuring you have better mastery over your spells." Cernais said as he spoke with a smile.
\'This is a good opportunity.\' Callius thought knowing his mana control over his spells was one of his weaknesses, and he needed guidance.
"Thank you, Sir Cernais." With a nod, he acknowledged the idea as he spoke.
With a final reassuring smile, Cernais continued the lesson, addressing the other students and guiding them through their respective elemental practices…..
Just like that, the class continued as Callius kept focusing on the booklet before him. \'Something is missing in this spell. No matter how careful I am, I cannot control it properly.\' Callius thought as he tried his spell once again.
In the end, the only thing he could do was to try more and more until he found his mistake.

"What do you think, Angus?" Outside of the classroom, a woman clad in orange attire spoke to her attendant. "Didn\'t I say his innate mana control is something else?"
"Yes, tower master. It was just as you said. Even though the way he conjured his spell still needed work, and he hadn\'t noticed the small missing part we took out from the manual, he still was able to take control of the situation quite fast."
As the attendant beside her spoke, the woman\'s smile on her face widened. "Do you think anyone could find the disappeared part inside the spell in just one gaze?" She asked. "I was not expecting him to find the missing part." The woman said as she displayed a fire mana on her hand, going wild, but suddenly the mana disappeared.
"He used Mana Resurgence even though he shouldn\'t be able to normally. That alone is enough for us not to miss such a talent. I want him beside me as my disciple. Have you talked with others?" As the woman spoke, her eyes were focused on the young boy focusing on the spell.
\'He is still trying to conjure the spell. If you can solve the missing part, a surprise is waiting for you.\' The woman still had her hopes high; after all, she had already fallen in love with the talent she was seeing in her eyes.
"Yes, tower master. For now, it looks like nobody is going to ask him to become their disciple."
"Then, we shall wait until this semester ends. I can\'t wait to see how he will show me in the final exams."
As the man responded, the woman nodded her head. "Still kept observing. I am sure that crafty girl will make her move soon." With that last phrase, the woman left the place where she had been watching the class, followed by her attendant.
"Understood, Tower Master."

After the lesson concluded, Callius made his way to Cernais\' room, carrying his booklet and a serious expression on his face.
\'Let\'s see what I can learn from him.\' He thought as he knocked on the door, and upon receiving a response, he entered the room.
Cernais greeted him with a warm smile. "Ah, Callius, come in. I\'ve been expecting you," he said, motioning for him to take a seat.
Callius sat down. He knew that this was a valuable opportunity to improve his mana control and refine his techniques.
Cernais began by discussing the intricacies of mana manipulation, emphasizing the importance of focus, concentration, and precise control. He provided Callius with specific exercises and techniques to enhance his control over his spells.
Since the classes ended quite early today, Cernais had quite a long time to spare for Callius, and he was happy with it.
For hours, they delved into discussions about mana flow, visualization techniques, and the subtle nuances of spellcasting. Cernais patiently answered Callius\' questions and guided him through various exercises, observing his progress with a discerning eye.
As Callius and Cernais engaged in their discussion about mana control, the seasoned mage reached behind his desk and retrieved a small, leather-bound manual. He placed it gently in front of Callius, his eyes glinting with anticipation.
"Callius, I believe this manual will be of great help to you in refining your mana control," Cernais said, gesturing toward the book. "It contains invaluable insights and techniques that will allow you to smooth out your mana flow and utilize it more efficiently."
Seeing the manual, Callius knew it was not something that was easy to give to students. \'Ah, you really want me, huh?\' He thought.
Curiosity picked up the manual, feeling the weight of knowledge in his hands. He carefully opened it, revealing pages filled with intricate diagrams, formulas, and detailed explanations.
"This manual will guide you through various exercises and practices designed to enhance your mana control," Cernais explained. "It covers topics such as channeling, weaving, and the synchronization of mana with your intentions. It\'s a comprehensive resource that I believe will complement our discussions and aid you on your path to mastery."
As he heard this, the serious crimson gaze turned to Cernais. "I shall thank you for this offer, sir Cernais. However, I will be direct with you now. What is it do you want in exchange for this?"
With his crimson gaze diving deep into Cernais\' eyes, Callius asked.
"Heh…. You are pretty smart, aren\'t you? Well, that is the reason why you are ranked first after all…" Cernais smiled in response as he loosely looked into Callius. "Just consider this a gift from me in return for a favor for the future. That\'s it."
Hearing this, Callius nodded his head. \'He must be referring to that woman.\' He thought.
"Then, I will take my leave."
"Goodnight, student Callius."
With that, Callius left the room and returned to his dormitory(house.)
Just like that, two weeks passed at a rapid speed as the time for the students to test themselves came once again.
Since it was the time for the mid-term exams to start….
