Chapter 3
Shen Yin patted his head appreciatively. “My Nian Nian is so smart. You wait here while I catch that bad guy.”
On that absurd night a few years ago, the unknown man had left her with this child. At one point, she had considered him to be a burden, but if not for his companionship all these years, she probably would not have been able to survive all those years alone overseas.
“Mother, don’t go.” Shen Nian frowned and grabbed her hand. He said disapprovingly, “You might be part of the police force, but you’re not a real police officer. It would be better for you to tell the airport police.”
“It’s okay. After all, I’ve received special training. Don’t worry, just be good and wait for me here.” Shen Yin watched the man’s movements closely. It was obviously too late to look for the airport police. Who knows where the man would have gone by the time the police arrived. She had to bring him under control him first, then transfer him to the police station, and hand him over to airport police.
“All right, then, I’ll help you to eat your share!” Shen Nian smirked and deliberately took a large, exaggerated bite.
He did not ask to go with Shen Yin because he knew he was young and would only be a burden to his mother if he followed her. Nonetheless, he gripped his chopsticks tightly. If something happened to his mother, he would immediately rush over and fight whoever had hurt her.
Shen Yin naturally discerned his nervousness and gently smoothed his short hair. She pretended to be stern and warned Shen Nian, “You’re not to finish my share!”
Shen Nian relaxed and smiled. He could tell that his mother was confident that she could capture the thief.
He knew his mother cherished her life too much to take any risks.
After soothing her son, Shen Yin strode out of the restaurant and pretended to walk past the man. In fact, he was on the phone, and she seized the opportunity, using a beautiful overarm throw to firmly bring him to heel.
The man roared in pain, but Shen Yin pressed her knee firmly against his lower back, immediately immobilizing him.
Shen Yin grabbed the bag. “Come with me to the police station!”
The commotion quickly caused an uproar. Many airport staff had already noticed what was happening.
The man who was pinned down by Shen Yin roared indignantly, “Who are you? What right do you have to hit me?”
“What right do I have?” Shen Yin ignored his words. “You’ll find out when we get to the police station. This bag of yours is stolen!”
“You!” Panic flashed across the man’s eyes. It had not been easy for him to steal the bag when the old man was not looking. He would receive a generous reward as long as he handed it over to his employer as agreed.
He had not expected this woman to suddenly appear out of nowhere!
“Don’t malign me! This bag is mine!” The man denied it vehemently and shamelessly incited the crowd. “Look everyone, how can she hit someone for no reason? She even falsely accused me of stealing something. Isn’t she crazy?”
The crowd pointed at Shen Yin suspiciously. “Little girl, what proof do you have that this bag isn’t his?”
“I…” Shen Yin only relied on her sharp intuition, honed from many years of detective work. If she wanted proof, she would only be able to find it by reviewing the surveillance cameras or checking the contents of the bag.
“Look, she has no proof! She’s just spouting nonsense! Let me go, or I’ll call the police!” The man glared at her threateningly. He was extremely nervous. If he did not get away quickly, the police would arrive and he would not be able to explain himself.
“Young lady, I think you had better let him go.” An elderly passerby advised her gently, “What if it’s a misunderstanding?”
“Grandma, believe me, this person is really a thief!” Shen Yin exerted more force, and the man immediately felt a piercing pain in his wrist.
“You b*tch, let me go!” The man became even more frustrated when he saw that the crowd was unable to dissuade her. He suddenly twisted his body and exerted his full strength to break free from Shen Yin’s grip.
Seeing that the police officers were getting closer and closer, the man glared at Shen Yin with eyes filled with hate. He spat a curse at her, then rushed through the crowd to escape.
“What’s going on?” The airport police officer looked at her sternly. “You have to come back to the station with us to make a statement.”
