Chapter 364: I’ll Be Counting On You
As a puppet, the Spydragon was able to see, hear, and smell things. It was also capable of generating sounds, though the clarity of voice wasn’t spectacular over long distances.
“…Xuer?” Ranze’s hesitant voice resounded from the side. He was still in the ruins, resting when he suddenly noticed a Spydragon fly before him, startling him as he assumed it was an Origin Beast. But the voice from it belonged to Xuer, confusing him.
“I’m able to speak to you thanks to Lord Gahrat.” Xuer felt Compass Carburettor’s stare on her as she hurriedly let go of any melodrama that she planned to say, jumping to the cusp of the matter, “I found out that the Sect Master and Elder Galda had planned to kill you…”
“Wait, wait, wait! How do you know that? Where are you currently? Are you safe?” Ranze shouted in alarm.
Compass Carburettor had erected an energy blade dome around them, preventing the guards posted outside from hearing anything. That’s how they were able to converse all along.
“Lord Gahrat had planned to take you in as his student. So, he was observing your actions all along.” Xuer then informed him of some things, assuring Ranze that she would be careful and would cultivate harder.
“We won’t be able to meet since they’ll try to kill you the moment they know that you’re alive. Uncle and Aunt would be worried, so there’s no other way but to make it known that you had survived.” Xuer said before looking at Compass Carburettor, nodding in response.
She then spoke, “So, Lord Gahrat proposed you write a letter where you admit your incompetence, and express your willingness to leave the Sect. On my side, I’ll act in accordance to ensure they wouldn’t aim to harm you.”
“You can then bide your time until you become strong enough. Lord Gahrat said that your Divine Martial Spirit is the strongest there is.”
There was silence for a good ten seconds after that as Ranze’s sullen voice resounded, “Lord Gahrat, are you able to hear me?”
“Yea, you’re speaking through my ability anyway.” Compass Carburettor nodded, “What do you wish to ask about?”
“Can you please not tell Xuer about such things? I don’t want her to think about politics and the likes. I want her to stay pure and innocent.” Ranze said.
“Are you dumb?” Compass Carburettor retorted immediately, “Don’t delude yourself into thinking that everything would go your way eventually based on the stories you’ve read. You’re not the main character.”
“I am!”
“W-What the hell are you talking about?” Ranze stuttered.
‘I should correct this aspect of transmigrators. Usually, such characters wise up after a tragedy or two.’ He then looked at Xuer, “If you wish to tell him anything else, do it now. My time is running short. I’ll knock some sense into him on my way out.”
“But Ranze is already smart…” Xuer said.
“He’s not smart enough.” Compass Carburettor said before thinking of something, scratching his head as he thought, ‘They are important to my plans. Might as well do it like this.’
He sighed, informing Grisha as she immediately appeared before Ranze, enveloped him in a cocoon of energy blade and brought him into the Dimensional Space.
Compass Carburettor then brought him out, causing him to look around in confusion, “Where the heck am…Xuer?”
“Ranze? How are you here now?” Xuer too was shocked before realising the scene where Compass Carburettor had abruptly arrived at her room in the first place.
Ranze noticed that he was in her room before turning around to see the figure of Compass Carburettor, frowning as he was deep in thought, feeling that the face was familiar before uttering, “…Compass Carburettor?”
“So, you know me. That means you haven’t transmigrated here at birth.” Compass Carburettor smiled, “That makes things simple.”
“How are you here?” Ranze asked in shock.
“Let’s leave that aside.” Compass Carburettor muttered, gazing at Ranze, “Have you read any webnovels with Systems?”
“Yes, I have.” Ranze nodded, feeling that he could trust the other party for some reason, a mysterious feeling.
“Alright, then I can bring you up to speed quickly.” He said, giving him a summary about the true nature of Systems, shocking Ranze. Moreover, considering how he didn’t even feel anything while muttering about Systems, Compass Carburettor realised that time was indeed running short. He had to hurry up with everything.
“To think they too were real. And now, they are aiming for you?” Ranze frowned, “But, where do I come into this picture?”
“Divine Martial Spirit.” Compass Carburettor muttered, “In this world, there are only four Divine Martial Spirits. Three are still in the Martial Spirit Realm while the fourth is with you. Currently, the System Hosts and I are in a race to grow stronger. And we would obviously be competing for the same things while trying to kill each other. And you’ll be a great obstacle to them, since your luck is also tremendous.”
“Your luck would affect their own. So, they’ll try to eliminate you.” He then pointed at Xuer, “And considering how gullible she is, they would be able to manipulate her into causing your death. Either her or your parents, whoever works the best in causing your demise.”
“You don’t need to believe me. You’ll eventually come across people tremendously superior to you in life experience and fighting abilities concerning their age. And, all of them would possess Heaven Martial Spirits.” Compass Carburettor said, “So, that’s your cue. If you hear any rumours about Heaven Martial Spirits from now on, know that they are System Hosts.”
“Fine, then what do you want me to do? You seem terrifyingly powerful. I can’t think of any way I’ll be of help to you.” Ranze said.
“Nothing much.” Compass Carburettor smiled, “If you come across such people, kill them. Though, if you’re even able to kill one of them, I’ll be surprised.”
Compass Carburettor then frowned, raising his hand to motion for Ranze to shut up, “My time’s up.”
He tossed Ranze into his Dimensional Space after wrapping him in a cocoon of an energy blade to prevent him from seeing anything that was within the Dimensional Space.
He then gazed at Xuer, leaving behind a statement before disappearing, “Work hard to grow stronger so that you can protect yourself and your loved ones. I’ll be counting on you in the future…”
“As Hazen.”
