Chapter 410 That's How You Do It!
That goal from Roland was all that was needed to seal the game as Litno FC were unable to get back into the game.
They tried really hard to at least pull one back, but all their effort failed to pay off until the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an end.
"There\'s the whistle, it is all over," Jim said as the chants from Unique FC fans got louder. "They started out quite lackluster but they\'re running away now with a two-goal victory."
"They\'re really giving it their all for this title season, it\'s nice seeing the title race having some spice this season, unlike last season." Steve expressed.
"Last season it was just between Supreme United and Dynamo FC and somewhere along the season, Dynamo FC just fell off completely but this season we have three teams battling teams battling, never expected to see Unique FC doing things this season."
Roland was announced as the man of the match at the end of the match and there was no exaggeration there because he was the best person in his position other than Dave and getting that last goal for his team made his rating go further up.
Now that they had zoomed past Litno FC, they were going to be facing Ballena United next.
Ballena United was one of the teams that just got promoted to the Bilbeth Premier League but unlike the others that were struggling near the bottom of the table, they are currently in sixth place on the table, so, they were doing quite well this season.
______ ______
When the day came for that match, Ballena United traveled to Unique City to take on the most in-form team in the league at the moment.
They had the same wins in their last couple of games but what made them the most in-form team ahead of their neighbors was the scoreline with which they won those matches and their overall performance.
Supreme United were still lacking a bit in form, winning their last couple of matches with two goals being the highest they could come up with.
Unique FC\'s match with Ballena United didn\'t start out that well not for Ballena United but for them.
It took only five minutes for the Uniques to concede a penalty that looked quite questionable but the referee gave it still.
Their striker did well in sending Dave the wrong way and putting the ball away into the back of the net.
That goal was all that was needed to shatter Dave\'s quest.
[ Quest failed ]
\'Hmm, it was only offering a hundred and fifty experience points. But then again, how weak can these guys be for me to get a quest only offering me these little experience points?\'
<You\'re making the mistake of underestimating just because of what the system offered you, teams that appear weak can be destructive, especially against big teams>
\'I was only asking a logical question and there\'s no way they\'re a weak team if we look at the table, they\'re in sixth place and a win against us will take them to fifth.\'
That goal from the penalty spot was all Ballena United needed to give themselves an early boost of confidence but that really was all it was.
Unique FC were bossing the game now, the match had just entered the eleventh minute which meant that they still had a lot of time left and didn\'t have to worry about the current situation. All they needed was to work things out slowly and steadily and that was exactly what they were doing here.
"It\'s been a while since I\'ve seen Unique FC concede first in a league match," Jim commented.
"Well, the only times that has happened apart from a few exceptions it was through penalties, and this one gets added to the list," Steve said.
Unique FC were showing Ballena United what they could do here and were stopping them right in their tracks whenever they got close to causing some trouble for them.
Their right winger got hold of the ball and attempted to dribble past Roland but that was a mistake as Roland took the ball off him under a neat challenge before he quickly sent it rolling to Martinez.
"Nicely done by Roland."
Martinez quickly took off down the middle with the ball and just before he could run into any of the opposing players, he sent the ball rolling to Minino who got hold of it and immediately pushed it toward Ferran.
"Ferran."
Ferran wasn\'t in a good spot so he had to send the ball rolling to Merino down the right wing.
"They\'re pushing forward here, are we going to see something this time?"
Merino pushed down the wing because the left-back was blocking his way into the box, and just before he could move past the line with the ball, he quickly turned with it and sent it flying into the box.
Fredinho was able to get his head on the ball and he did pretty well in placing it toward the top right-hand side of the goalkeeper.
However, the goalkeeper was able to get to it right on time, and with his left glove, he sent it over the bar and out for a corner kick.
"So close! That was a fantastic save!"
"Yeah, very wonderful save but now they have a corner kick to deal with," Steve commented.
Ferran was standing over the ball in the spot waiting for the referee\'s whistle as everyone else ran around inside and around the box area.
After making sure that everything was ready, the referee blew his whistle and now it was time to see if they could turn this one into something.
Ferran was already standing a distance away from the ball so all he did was let out a deep breath before he quickly closed up on the ball and sent it flying in.
As soon as the ball got to the middle, Fredinho jumped up to get his head on it, but he wasn\'t without competition.
He still won the header and that was where things got interesting.
With the way his head was placed, the goalkeeper expected him to send the ball toward the right side of the goalpost and even though that was the striker\'s intention, his head sloped back a little when the ball hit it causing it to take the opposite route.
The goalkeeper went toward the right as the ball flew into the goalpost from the left side.
"Goallllllllll!"
Fredinho quickly picked himself up as soon as he saw the ball go in, and without hesitation, he raced to the sidelines and did a knee slide before his teammates could get to him.
"They\'ve finally gotten that equalizer!"
"It didn\'t even take that long but I guess it was expected given the way Unique FC were putting pressure on them," Steve commented. "That was a beautiful goal from Fredinho, the game is back on level terms."
\'Well, that was faster than I expected.\' Dave said subconsciously.
<Yeah>
The chants from the fans got louder with that goal and it didn\'t sound like they were going to stop anytime.
That goal just breathed a whole new and more lively atmosphere into the Wondanimo stadium.
The match had to continue after that wild celebration as Ballena United\'s striker who had the name Brad written above the number seven on the back of his jersey was standing over the ball in the kick-off spot now.
All he was waiting for was the referee\'s whistle and as soon as he heard it, he sent the ball rolling to the midfielder on his right.
The player had Ferran heading toward him as soon as he got hold of the ball and decided to send it flying over to his teammate on the other side, but that was a big mistake as Minino quickly jumped in front of him to steal the ball and just before the player could attempt to take the ball off him while he was a little off balance, he sent the ball rolling to Merino who immediately took off with it down the wing.
"Well, that\'s one way to get the ball."
Merino had to slow down as he got closer to the box because he had two players right in front of him.
He didn\'t like the idea of trying to dribble them so he sent the ball to Ferran who immediately sent it flying over to Mateo.
"Over to Mateo."
Mateo brought the ball down with his chest and quickly cut past the right back there.
He had another player right in front of him so shooting wasn\'t really a good option, he still had other options though.
Fredinho was making his way into the box right at that time, and as soon as the winger cut sight of him, he sent the ball over to him with a little lob.
The defender in the box quickly rushed toward the striker to stop him, but Fredinho wasn\'t going to give him that chance to get close as he stretched his left leg and fired the ball toward the goalpost before it could hit the floor.
"Oh, he\'s gone for the volley?"
The goalkeeper dived toward the right side of the goalpost to get his hand on the ball but he failed as the ball hit the post before falling into the goalpost.
"And he found the back of the net!" Jim exclaimed. "That\'s how you do it!"
As soon as the striker sent that ball in, he quickly raced toward Mateo while pointing at him.
"The equalizer was only scored just a minute ago, now they\'re leading," Steve said in utter astonishment.
"Yeah, that\'s the fastest recovery we\'ve seen this season."
