Chapter 185 Limit
"That one was smooth." The goalkeeper muttered before turning to the balls behind him.
\'I just have to get the ball in the net four more times with seven balls remaining, that\'s definitely going to work.\'
He rolled another ball to the spot before slowly taking four steps backward.
After that, he quickly raced toward the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost but this time, his attempt to reduce the elevation had gone wrong as the ball was sent flying toward the goalpost with high elevation.
The ball was moving toward the goalpost from the middle and it looked like it was just going to hit the crossbar and fly over but the opposite happened as the ball hit the crossbar and bounced on the goal line before rolling into the goalpost.
"Just three more to go now with six balls left." He said with a smile on his face.
The next ball was also sent flying high as Dave had once again failed to control his elevation.
This time the ball was flying toward the goalpost from the right and Dave expected it to at least hit the crossbar but it just zoomed past without making contact with the crossbar.
"That one was a complete waste but it was close." He said before rolling another ball to the spot.
\'I just have to control my elevation.\'
He slowly took four steps backward before he raced toward the ball and sent it flying toward the goalpost this time with a cautious approach to avoid the elevation from going too high.
The ball was still elevated higher than he wanted it to but it wasn\'t that high so the ball was able to make it into the goalpost.
With this approach, he was able to get the next two balls into the goalpost and complete his quest.

"Your shot power is massively incredible for a goalkeeper."
He slowly raised his gaze to see Mateo standing a little distance away from him, he was in the middle of the pitch the last time he saw him.
"You think so."
"I don\'t think so." The winger said before he pushed the ball trapped under his foot a little closer to the edge of the box. "It\'s factual." He added before he sent the ball flying toward the goalpost with a swerve shot.
The ball was heading to the goalpost from the middle but it suddenly changed course to the left side and banged on the crossbar before falling into the goalpost.
"If I had added a certain amount of shot power to that, I wouldn\'t be able to hit the net but that\'s exactly what you\'ve been doing." The winger said.
\'Because that\'s the only way I can make my shots get there.\'
<Another thing you need to work on in the shooting department is your swerve so that you\'ll be able to make shots like the one you just saw>
______ ______
After training for a few more minutes, the two had decided to call it a day and start heading back to the hotel.
The first person they met on entering the building was Norman, their coach who was just making his way out of the building.
"Hey, coach," Mateo said.
"Where are you two coming from?" He asked.
"The stadium, we went to train there," Dave replied.
"Oh, you guys just gave yourselves an extra training session to go with the one we\'re having in the evening."
"Yeah." The goalkeeper replied.
"That\'s good." The coach said with a nod and smile. "You should go get some rest now before 4:00 PM." He added before continuing his walk to where he was going.
The two made their way upstairs to their hotel floor and luckily for them, they didn\'t meet any of their teammates in the hallway until they got to their room. The first thing they did after getting there was slowly walk to their bed before crashing down on them on their faces.
"That was tiring but worth it." The goalkeeper said.
"Yeah." His roommate replied.
The time displayed on the digital wall clock was 1:04 PM and by the time it was 1:10 PM, the two were already fast asleep.
______ ______
The evening training session didn\'t last that long, Norman set it to last for only ninety minutes and by the time the ninety minutes were over, the players had to return to the hotel to freshen up and have their dinner.
After doing those things, they could either go to bed or do whatever they wanted to do as long as they weren\'t going to stay up late which wasn\'t good for them as they had a match against Benfica tomorrow.
"Hey, want to come over today and help me wipe the floor with a few people?" Mateo asked as he made his way to the door.
"Help you wipe the floor? I thought you guys were playing FIFA."
"Yeah, but we\'ve decided to try something different today." The winger said.
"That makes it even worse for me." The goalkeeper muttered.
"Huh?"
"Nothing, just go on without me, I\'ll just end up getting in the way and then we\'ll be the ones being used to wipe the floor."
"Okay," Mateo said with an awkward expression on his face as he opened the door. "See you later then." He said before shutting the door.
Dave stared at the closed door for a while before he let out a sigh and slowly laid down on his bed.
\'Catherine.\' He called.
<Yes>
\'What happens if I reach my limit?\'
<Reach your limit in what sense?>
\'Everybody has his limit, that\'s why some people improve to a certain extent and can\'t go beyond that point, that\'s the reason why some really hard-working players are only able to do so much no matter how hard they work or train and then decline comes with aging, that\'s why we have players who are better than others.\'
<I think you\'ve already answered that question by explaining that>
\'No, I haven\'t, this system can push my body beyond its limits and speed up my improvement with a few side effects of course so that\'s why I\'m wondering what reaching my limit will mean for me.\'
It had already been five minutes since he said that subconsciously but there had not been any form of response from her.
\'Aren\'t you going to answer me, Catherine?\'
<I don\'t know how to answer that question, Dave>
Dave didn\'t say anything for a while and just stared at the ceiling for a while before turning to his right.
\'Fine, we\'ll just talk more during training tonight.\'
