Chapter 60 - ICU ROOM

As soon as Ellena got out of the car, she immediately ran towards the largest private hospital building in the city center, she didn't even wait for Lucas first.

Ellena must have been very worried and wanted to see her mother as soon as possible, after Alex gave the news that her mother and sister had been successfully transferred to the hospital.

"Elle, wait!" shouted Lucas who had just gotten out of his car. However, Ellena did not heed her husband's call.

Ellena went straight to the reception desk and asked where her mother was. After that, she immediately ran to the ICU room where her mother was being treated.

Meanwhile, Lucas seemed to be walking slowly into the hospital building while holding his left stomach which still hurt.

"Sssh ...." Lucas groaned trying to hold back the pain in his stomach.

Even though Lucas is still not well, Lucas is trying to take Ellena to the hospital anyway. Ellena had repeatedly forbade it, but Lucas still insisted. After all, Briana is his current mother-in-law, he is also very worried and wants to see the condition of the middle-aged woman.

Lucas seemed to walk while occasionally groaning in pain in his stomach. I don't know what happened to his stomach since last night. It hurts so much when you move. There's no way his stomach hurts just because of food. If it's just for the food, it usually doesn't hurt that much.

"Martin, how is Mom doing?" Ellena asked as she approached Martin who was waiting for her mother right in front of the ICU door. Looks Alex who is also standing to accompany Martin.

"Sister?" Martin immediately turned and looked sadly at Ellena's face. "Mom is inside, Sis. She is still in a coma." Martin answered quietly.

"Actually what happened to Mom?" Ellena looked up questioningly.

"I don't know either, Sis. This afternoon Mom suddenly fainted, while sweeping the floor ...," replied Martin, pausing slightly. "Now Mom is still being treated by a doctor inside, we are waiting for further news." He added later.

"Elle ...." The low voice of a familiar voice managed to distract Ellena, Martin, and Alex.

"Lucas?" Ellena was slightly stunned to look at Lucas who seemed to have difficulty walking because of the pain in his stomach. This was evident from Lucas who was seen holding his stomach in a slightly heavy and slow way.

"Lucas, are you okay?" Ellena immediately came over and wrapped her arms around Lucas.

"I'm fine." Lucas answered, deliberately trying to hide his pain in front of Ellena.

"You'd better sit here." Ellena led Lucas to sit in a waiting chair in front of the ICU.

"Brother, what are you doing? Are you sick?" Martin asked as he approached Lucas and Ellena, even with Alex already standing beside Martin.

"I'm fine, Martin. Just a normal stomach ache." Lucas replied, forcing a little smile.

"You shouldn't have come here with me. Look at your condition, you should see a doctor, Lucas!" Ellena grumbled as she landed beside Lucas.

"Sir, it seems that you are not an ordinary stomach ache, you should immediately go to the doctor. Let me take you while we are in the hospital," said Alex, who also responded.

"No need, Alex," Lucas refused.

"But, Sir—"

"Do I need to repeat what I said?" Lucas looked glaring at Alex and at that moment Alex immediately took a few steps back.

"Sorry, Sir." Alex whispered later.

He immediately understood Lucas' irresistible attitude. Of course he didn't want to see his boss getting angry because he kept trying to force him.

"Lucas, you really are stubborn! Can't you just ignore the people who care about you so much? We're worried, but—"

"Come on, Elle. Think about Mom's current condition. We'll wait for the doctor to come out of the ICU room. You don't have to worry about me, I'm not a child anymore!" Lucas seemed to interrupt Ellena's conversation.

"But, Lucas, you're sick. I don't want your pain to get any worse, just because you care too much about other people and don't care about your own health." Ellena wore a pitiful expression.

"How many times do I have to tell you? I'm fine, Elle. Trust me!" Lucas insisted that he didn't want to worry Ellena, even though he felt the pain in his stomach getting worse.

"You are lying!" said Ellena in disbelief.

How could Ellena believe it, while she looked at Lucas who seemed to be trying to endure the pain. Not to mention the man's face that looks pale. Should she just believe what Lucas said? She thinks everyone would think the same if they were in her position.

"No, Ellena ...." Lucas was silent for a while before he continued. "I've been taking medicine, maybe it will get better soon." He added later, again he lied.

"Are you sure?" Ellena looked at Lucas questioningly and the man only responded by nodding his head while staring at Ellena's face so closely.

"Thank you, Lucas, you've been worrying about my mother." Ellena whispered with tears in her eyes again.

Before Lucas could respond, the ICU door suddenly opened. They immediately shifted their focus to the source of the sound. A tall male doctor and a petite nurse came out of the room.

"Mrs. Briana's family!" called the doctor, then signaled to the nurse who was standing beside him to leave the place first.

Ellena immediately got up and walked over to the doctor. "Me, Doc!" said Ellena who suddenly made the doctor turn to her.

"How is my mother, Doc?" asked Elena excitedly.

"Excuse me, what are you as Mrs. Briana?" the doctor asked just to be sure.

"I'm her daughter, Doc!" Ellena answered so firmly that it made the doctor nod his head as if he could immediately understand Ellena's words.

"Okay. I'll explain a little about Mrs. Briana's current condition...." The doctor was silent for a moment and lowered his gaze.

The attitude of the doctor who seemed to be hiding his anxiety certainly made Ellena very curious and even more worried about her mother's condition.

"Doc, what happened to my mother? Is she okay?" Ellena looked at the doctor with concern and concern.

"Elle, you calm down first, let the doctor explain first how your condition is." Lucas seemed to be trying to steel himself to approach Ellena.

"How can I calm down, Lucas. Mom's still inside and I don't know how she's doing!" said Ellena, pointing to the ICU room with a very panicked expression.

"Yes, I know. Therefore, give the Doctor a chance to talk." Lucas replied as he drew closer to Ellena. Now he was standing beside his wife and facing the doctor.

Without responding to Lucas' words, Ellena immediately turned back to the doctor.

"Mrs. Briana is still unconscious and the coma she is currently in is due to a ruptured blood vessel in her brain. We apologize for not being able to bring Mrs. Briana back to consciousness, despite our best efforts for her." Doctor Andre's explanation managed to make Ellena wide-eyed. Instantly her eyes glazed over again.

"Then what about my mother. Can she recover as usual?" asked Ellena then.

"You should just pray. The chances of Mrs. Briana getting well again are very small, but God still has the will. Me and several other medical teams can only help as much as we can. For the results we leave it to the Almighty." Doctor Andre spoke in an even tone, but full of meaning.

Yes, at least Doctor Andre's words will not make Ellena and the others look even more panicked, even though one's feelings cannot be lied to just like that.

Even so, Ellena still couldn't calm her feelings so easily, before seeing her mother's condition firsthand. What if it turns out that her mother can not recover?

Ah, really. She would be very guilty for not being able to take care of his mother properly. If only he had not lived far from her mother, maybe this bad thing would not have happened because she would always take care of her mother.

"Does that mean my mother will be difficult to heal, Doc?" asked Ellena trying to determine what was bothering her.

"It's not like that, Miss. We just can't be sure. The possibility of recovery is definitely there, it's just that maybe your mother won't be able to do her usual activities. She could have had a mild or severe stroke after she woke up," explained Doctor Andre, a little doubtfully.

Doctor Andre didn't really want to make Ellena even more panicked. However, no matter how bad the patient's condition was, he still had to tell the truth to the patient's family.

Ellena's mouth seemed to open to hear Doctor Andre's explanation. Instantly she covered her mouth with one hand while spilling the clear liquid that had been filling her eyelids.

"No! The doctor must be wrong!" Ellena shook her head repeatedly.

"I'm sorry, but according to her medical record, the results are like that. Let's just pray, hopefully there will be a miracle for Mrs. Briana so that she can get well soon. Maybe that's all I can say. If there are further developments, we will immediately notify you. Excuse me." Doctor Andre seemed to hurry to leave the place.

Ellena tried to dismiss all of Doctor Andre's explanations. Her body collapsed right then and there. She felt that her legs no longer had the strength to support her fragile body in the face of this harsh reality. However, Lucas was lucky to catch her.

Actually, Lucas didn't feel strong enough to hold Ellena's body because his stomach still hurt. However, fortunately Martin was very agile and helped him to hold the woman's body from falling to the floor.

"Sister, calm down. Mom will be fine. You don't be like this, I can't see Mom and you looking weak like now. Haven't you always been strong? I beg you, calm down. Mom really needs our support at this time. " Martin tried to lift Ellena's body while continuing to provide support for his beloved sister.

Lucas and Martin seemed to take Ellena to the waiting chair. They sat Ellena there. Ellena's cheeks were still filled with tears.. The woman was still conscious, only now half of her life seemed to have just disappeared, so she looked limp.
